Can you gamble & not have a few drinks? While I can do this & sometimes do, I always find I have a little bit more fun when I have a few beers . Typically it's not enough to push me over the edge or get me drunk, but I seem to relax & enjoy myself with a couple of beers.

Anyone else have that feeling, of having a better time with a drink or two?

Easy for us. We don't drink at home and don't do it in LV either. We're not opposed to alcohol and do have a drink now and then but I'd rather eat my calories than drink them.

As an unwritten rule I dont drink at home, occasional beer on birthdays things like that so playing without a drink isn't a problem for me.
Coffee in the morning with breakfast, Iced coffee mid afternoon keeps me going and alert. ( I usually travel to Vegas in Aug ) That being said I do concur with the OP that having a drinky or three in the evening does loosen one up and, as long as your not getting tanked on your BR, does usually make playing more enjoyable. Hell why else would they have CW running around if not to loosen up our minds and our wallets to ensure you think your enjoying yourself?:drunk::poke:

I don't really drink much if at all while I am actually gambling. I may nurse a drink and order a new one once out of every 5 times the CW comes by. I'm not sure why I don't, I don't think it would really screw up my play or anything, but I'm just on a high from the gambling anyway.

I mostly drink before or after, the exceptions are if I'm at a table where there is a lot of camaraderie and we all decide to do shots or order the same drink or something. Or if I'm donking around on some low limit game or slot with the main purpose being to drink and just mess around.

I definitely prefer to drink while I gamble. In fact, I am basically drinking all day and night while in Vegas, maintaining a constant buzz for the entire weekend.

I primarily play blackjack and admit that my ability to follow basic strategy does become impaired as the buzz level increases.

I never drank while gambling until about 2008, then I said screw it and ordered a couple. I have found that I don't gamble more or less money nor do I win or lose more when sober vs drinking but I don't get so upset over losses after a few cocktails. :peace:

I prefer to be completely bombed from beginning to end of my Vegas trips, and wouldn't even consider not drinking while gambling. My fav thing to do in Vegas is wake up, eat my breakfast bar and mix a cocktail right on the spot just because I can!

I am in the non-drinking camp. What I have at the tables is soft drinks or an occasional hot chocolate during the winter months at my local casinos.

I mostly get soft drinks at the tables, but this next trip I'm going for broke on the drinking. Hopefully it'll make the inevitable losses a little easier to swallow.

I don't drink at any other gambling venues unless it's in Vegas.

I enjoy trying out different cocktails while gaming and consider it part of the experience and fun of being there.

I could go without it but I don't want to. :wink2:

Well....one of the joys of being in LV is the ability to get a decent drink for just a $1 or $2 tip to the CW. I'm not a big drinker and never have too many but considering the fact that our local riverboat can't offer free drinks (Indiana State Law...), so I never indulge there unless it is free drink nite in the Diamond Lounge. One ritual was to check in, slightly unpack....really just hang up a few things, go to one of my fav machines, lite a cigarette & order a drink. That is when I know I have truly "arrived"....lol. Since I quit smoking, it will now be the same except I will be vaping instead of using tobacco.

Drinking while gambling is the best, it is Vegas. When I gamble at local casinos, I'll have a few drinks. When I'm in Vegas, I start drinking when I wake up, before eating breakfast. When I gamble at the tables, the CW will bring me drinks without ordering after tipping well over and over. I drink like there is no tomorrow. This has also been the cause of some of my biggest losses in Vegas.

I prefer to drink a bunch when I am at the slot machines. I have met a bunch of CW that remember me and bring drinks without asking, of course they get tipped very well. I try to have 2-3 drinks per hour when I play baccarat, but it is difficult. Realistically, I have 6-8 drinks per hour when I play baccarat. Service in the HL is to good to pass down especially when I am usually the one drinking the most.

The two (drinking and gambling) go together for me, which is why I'm not a very serious gambler. I pretty much quit gambling , when I get too buzzed. Since I play a lot of VP, I can pretty much tell when it's time to walk... I start playing too fast and fail to hold cards I should, etc.

Yes I can gamble without drinking and do so when I drive my wife, myself, and our good friends to local casinos. In Vegas, I do drink while I gamble but will stop when it causes me to make bad decisions at the tables.

I agree 100% with ya! I find gambling boring as hell when I'm sober, but get a few drinks in me and its the best thing in the world.
