Another thread inspired me to post this....someone stated in the other thread they were driving to Vegas and the road trip was going to take 31 hours.

How long of drive have you made in order to get to Vegas?

32 hours straight through, but we were young and DUMB. Very lucky we survived.

    Only stops were for gas.

The first time I was ever in Vegas we drove up from spring training in AZ. But that's been it for driving.

I've done it twice, 12 hours each way or 24 hours total. I will probably never do it again.

We were 3:15-3:30 when still in SmogCal. Now we're 6+ and it's rather convoluted.

But it's the West and we do the miles out here. I did straight shots to/from Tucson last week and every couple years still do the run up to the PNW straight through. Hell, we drove 3 hours to Bev Hills several weeks back to meet friends for dinner one Saturday night then drove home. We're not very smart.

It's only 7.5 hours to Vegas from up here in the north, but I've only driven halfway (to Tonapah) on business... that was enough for me to never want to do the second half... I'll take the 55 minute flight!

I've driven an extra 3 hours to Reno, to pickup a few hundred in bounceback, then BACK down to Modesto, THEN to Vegas, basically making it a 14 hour drive...

Several times, I have driven from near Houston to Deming, N.M. on day one ( about 12 hours ).

Day two was Deming to Las Vegas for second 12 hours.

    For me, a spiritual experience.

32 hours straight through from Grand Rapids Michigan. Hated it myself. My wife doesn't mind it and has done this a few times. The only reason I dig it was because I had just had a collapsed lung and my doctor had told me that I couldn't fly. The things us gamblers will do to get to Vegas!!!

A little over three hours. Any more than that and we'd fly. But being so close makes for a nice little drive before we get to Our Favorite Place On Earth.

We drove last spring and the rout we took was almost 2k miles. I'm the only driver so we took about 30 hours driving time over 2 1/2 days. I plan on doing it again this March.

Made the drive from Minneapolis to LA, stopping in Vegas, twice when I was young.
Now, 40 years wiser, I would only make the drive if were planning on staying a month or 2 in AZ and wanted my car.

One of my worst driving experiences ever, turned out to be my best casino experience ever was driving with my wife from Phoenix to Vegas. 10 miles from I-40 on US 93 at 9 PM traffic comes to a complete halt for 4 hours! A motorcycle plowed into someone who then caused a chain reaction with 3 other cars. We are out in the middle of nowhere in December for 4 hours. Now this was a time before cell phones and GPS so we had no idea how to detour.

When we finally got to the "new" Bellagio and told the desk attendant our sob story of why we were getting in at 3 am instead of 11pm, she felt sorry for us and put us in a whale suite for our first night, and a regular suite every other night for free.

Ended up winning a boat load of money at the tables for trip. I vowed never to drive to Vegas again....

From north SLC, it's close to a 7 hour drive including food stops. When I was working we always drove but since we've retired it's been flying however we are now toying with the idea of taking our recently purchased new vehicle to actually see how bad it is with this neat car.

On my trip to Vegas last month with my dad we ended up driving from San Antonio, Texas because the trip was last minute and airfare was crazy high. Going there we stopped in Albuquerque for the night after a 10 hour drive. Left the next morning and arrived at Sam's Town a little after 3:00. Coming back we left Planet Hollywood at 5:30 in the morning and I pulled into my driveway at midnight. All in all it was not a bad drive and I really enjoyed the time with my dad.
