My Trip Report

Who: Girlfriend, Friend from Co. I work at and his Girlfriend/wife to be.

Why: Because I had to go see family and needed to cut that trip short so I made the excuse that this Vegas trip needed to be had! Don't get me wrong, love the family, but I can only take so much at a time LOL!

So it is 3:30am and it has been a few days since I have been back but I had an amazing time at the Cosmopolitan. Service was great, slots were good, company was awesome and Vegas didn't spit me out like normal.

My vacation started out the Thursday before when my girlfriend and I traveled to North Carolina to see my family. I got the Southwest Companion pass so she travels free with me anywhere I book a Southwest flight to (wish they flew to Hawaii!!!) so the flight was $320 total for two tickets that went from SFO to NC to LAS to SFO! What a deal and the first time I used my companion pass.

Left NC on Monday afternoon and out flight was delayed a couple hours due to weather conditions in other parts of the country, but we eventually made it to Vegas around 5:30pm and my friend, who had been there since Friday, came and picked us up. I had just gotten over a cold the last week, and of course my girlfriend had picked one up at her work and I ended up getting that the day before we leave NC and head to Vegas. What luck that I would of just gotten over and cold only to get another a week later when I wanted to let loose! As you will see, it didn't really stop me too much, but didn't help. We drove straight to the Cosmo where I tried the $20 trick and she took off the resort fee ($50 for both nights so it was a win) then I fell for the upsell on $100/night for the Wraparound suite with a view. This was my second time staying at the Cosmo and I really wanted to be right above the fountains and have that corner suite even though it was like 30 degrees out. This is why:

Wrap around suite was huge, had a full kitchen (no plates or utensils but we didn't want to use it anyways) and the balcony of course. No video or pics of the suite really because there are better photographers than me and my cell phone and you can find them all over Youtube. The one photo above embodies it pretty well though, even though that was the end of the show.

Go to eat immediately as we were starving, but nothing memorable. In fact, I seriously don't remember where we went! I was too excited to start gaming, and we did! My friend likes to attempt dice control and enjoyed the tables at Monte Carlo since he had been there so that is where we headed to. I played craps with him and I actually had the better roll. I bet the All Tall, the All Small and then whatever the bet that includes both of those (forgot name but odds were 1 to 176). I held the dice for a good 20 minutes as they fed me drinks and kept telling me different rules with the dice. First rule was I had to hit the backboard, next rule I could not throw the dice too high, next rule was don't throw higher than the stick man's eye level, next rule, well I forgot the next one but you get the picture. I had a streak, winning him $400 and me $150, all on 10 - $24 bets. I then walked away to find my girlfriend who was busy at some slots so I played around the casino floor with her as well.

We then went over to Aria and my friend wanted to shoot craps there by the $15 tables were full and so we started hitting the slots. The 3 hand VP at the Progressive bank was something crazy like $12900, higher than some of the 5 hand and 10 hand jackpots! I said that is the one I wanted to win. Well I went up and down until I made like $20, then put that into a $1 slot and lost it real quick. The craps tables weren't letting up so we decided to leave.

My friend went back to Vdara where he was staying (he had upgraded to a penthouse suite with a 270 degree view of the backside of the hotel and some of the south strip. It was definitely nice. We had some champagne mixed with pomegranite juice that was so delicious, appetizers and more champagne. My friend all the sudden said he wasn't feeling well and had been fighting a cold the whole time he was there (CAN'T WE FIND CURES FOR THESE THINGS YET?!) so we took off so he could sleep. He probably hit it pretty hard over the days before we arrived so it was a good thing. Plus I had big plans for Tuesday afternoon so he needed his rest!

Me and the girlfriend went down and kept playing. I hit the slots first and was breaking pretty much even until I hit a bonus round on the Lord of the Rings slot where it spun the combonation below and paid out $80, then said "Spin that again!" and gave me another $80, then is SAID IT AGAIN! and gave me another $80 then.... IT SAID IT AGAIN! So I got $320 on a max $3.50 bet, which was only my second spin on the machine!

(ok no idea how to embed a youtube even with the button so here is link)

I don't hit too many winners more than $50 despite the amount of times I max bet the machines so you can hear me yelling at the end and my girlfriend being all stoked too. We were so drunk it is hilarious for me to watch now.

I took it and cashed out. Went over and played blackjack at anywhere from $15-$30 a hand for what seemed like a couple hours. but ended up giving them about $50. Not bad for how drunk I was (cranberry and Ciroc vodkas were flowing the whole time). Cocktail service was amazing at the table, and I tipped well. Even with the small glasses and me putting them down really fast, I don't think I was ever without a drink for more than a couple minutes.

After black jack I retired to my room to sleep.

Day 2 is coming up, hopefully soon but all depends on when I get the patience to upload and link the pictures. I will give you a hint as to the afternoon activities, it was a groupon and it was fast and exotic! Plus, the variance hits harder when the casinos are slower!

    Day 2!

So after going to bed around 5am, up a few hundred dollars and a bunch of drinks in me, I have to wake up at 11am for my big day. When the alarm finally (which I strategically placed far enough away where i had to get out of bed to turn off) hits me, about 10 minutes into the ringing, I get up say "OH FUCK" and realize I am still pretty drunk. So I set the alarm for another 30 minutes, chug a bunch of water and go back to sleep. 15 minutes into my morning nap my friend calls wondering what I'm doing because he also knew this was the big day. I tell him I am still pretty drunk and I need to make a call but if he could bring me a large water and 2 red bulls I will be good to go in an hour or two. So I call up the Lamborghini rental office, THAT'S RIGHT THE LAMBO RENTAL OFFICE, and tell them if it is ok to come a little later than my noon appointment. The guy is super chill and says it works out better for him if I show up at 1:30 but no earlier because he won't be there. I get off the phone, call my friend back (who has already made it to the Cosmo lobby) and say we are pushing back our time so I can get some me time to sober up.

He comes up to the room, plastic bag in hand, and hands me a water right as he walks in the room. I thank him but go straight for the red bull and chug it in seconds. I move back to the water to wash it down and surprise my liver for the first time on the trip. At this point it is just crawling past noon so we hang out in the room for a little while, checking out the view off the balcony and talking about how we want to drive this beast. I sober up some, we go down to the casino, I grab a bite of something and off we go to find the Exotic car rental behind Mandalay Bay. In the car I am feeling about 90% sober and the red bull had woken me up and taken the edge off so I am legally good to go! Get to the place and see my baby sitting outside, unlocked, no one else around. So I do what any normal man about to drive a 1/4 million $$$ car would do, I GET IN!

Our contact shows up shortly after, has me sign some paper work, lets me know each tire is $500 and each rim is $5,000, shows me how to use my new toy and then lets me go. We immediately head to a parking lot behind Excalibur, while I am making sure I go over every little bump in the road with extreme caution and ease. There are speed bumps in the parking lot so I avoid them as best I can while going as slow as possible. We park, I show my friend how to drive and he goes around the lot a couple times for fun. After about 30 minutes over driving around the parking lot, he comes back and I say "I'm going to the freeway, this thing is awesome!" So he follows me to the freeway with his rented Altima and off I go as I please, let me tell you, that thing was a blast!

My girlfriend hadn't gotten out of bed so I called her at the Cosmo and I told her I would be picking her up in 10 minutes so put on some clothes and get down to the garage. Pulling up to the Cosmo in a two tone Lambo felt like wearing the perfect Tux to a fancy ball. It was the perfect combination of two extravagent and luxurious things coming together, I know she felt special getting into that car in front of all those people, so I was happy too. I didnt have much time left so we hit the highway real fast and headed back.

    One last picture

2 hours was just enough time to have with it (was a groupon I bought and worth every penny!) and I returned it. I think if I have a few friends who want to race around in Lambos for a few hours, I will go back to this place due to the service and beautiful vehicles (3 Lambos, a Ferrari, and a Delorean).

My sickness started catching up with me a little bit but we still went out and ate, then gambled then had a dinner at Andres scheduled for 8:30 from a travelzoo voucher we got. I did one of these before at the Simon restaurant in the Palms, and I was sick then too with food poisoning so I had been really looking forward to this. As luck would have it, I was sick again, but not nearly as bad.

We had a 3 course meal which started with some lobster bisque, then sea bass as the entree and finished off with a creme brulee. It was a nice dinner in a nice place, but not a place I would visit again, not because it was bad, but because it didn't stand out and there are so many places to visit in Vegas, you have to spread yourself out.

After that more gambling to a point where I gave most of my money back and went to bed early because I was getting worse. We woke up 12 hours later, packed and found out our flight was delayed so we got a bite to eat at The Hendry then headed to the airport in a cab. The cabbie took a right out of the Cosmo, going behind and over the highway, only to circle back around the side of NY NY. When I realized he was either going to take the highway or doing something else stupid, I turned on the GPS with sound and let it start spouting directions. I was not in the mood to argue and he had only gone about 1/2 out of the way at that point so I let it go (never have before, but I think I tackled it before it became a problem).

Flight home on SW was no big deal and we got a ride home from a friend. I came home about even except what I spent on food (hotel was comped) and the rental car so overall I would say it was a success!

After we came home the girlfriend started talking about her upcoming birthday this month and how she was hanging out with friends in northern California at the new Graton casino. I read yelp reviews and the machines sound too tight for anyone in their right mind to go there so I suggested Vegas, did a little convincing and now we have TWO TRIPS IN THE SAME MONTH! This one is planned out to leave after I get off work next week on the Friday - Sun after Christmas. I usually hate Vegas in the Winter, but I even talked myself into it. It seems this is a busy weekend and she wants to go to Marquee to see the guy from Jersey Shores DJ or Britney and Britney tickets are too expensive (opening weekend). We will be staying at the Aria and I hope I have another fun report to provide after using all yours to pass the time until my trips!

Nice job on the two trips in a month...

On the Wraparound upgrade: what type of room did you originally have reserved at Cosmo?

How much did the Lambo rental cost, and it was for 2 hours right? I might have to give that a try.

If you loved that you definitely need to check out http://www.exoticsracing.com/ You can race that same Lambo on a track and drive it as fast as you can. I drove a Ferrari last March and it was one of the coolest things I've ever done.

Had a comp for 2 nights in a terrace studio, so all I paid was upgrade fee. Was well worth it when the room didn't cost anything!

It did but I did not use them, I was still a little worried even though I was ready to race!

I have seen the Exotic Racing pop up on Groupon as well, but really wanted one to just drive around the city streets/highway. I wanted the freedom without any restrictions or anyone watching ;)

As for price, it was a groupon, $109 for 2 hours and 25 miles (guy was chill and said 35 miles was fine for free, but we only used like 20) or $189 for 4 hours and 50 miles. What a steal considering the lowest I have seen is around $400!

If it pops up again, I am going to buy the max and use them on each trip.

    https://www.groupon.com/deals/elite-exotic-car-rentals

Don't fall for the Driving "Experience" groupons, someone rides with you so no passenger except the instructor and it is a designated course down the strip.

That groupon deal is insane! I'm going to be on the lookout now thanks to you. Hopefully there is a deal when I get the west end penthouse at the cosmo next weekend!
