So my husband and I, dad and stepmom are going to Vegas in January. We are all staying at Caesars. My dad has MS and will need a motorized scooter to get around the casino.

I have about $2000 in reward credits so hubby and I decided we wanted to take the two of them for dinner the night we arrive. My dad won't (well, can't really, due to his MS) leave the property, so the restaurant needs to be at Caesars (otherwise I'd take them to Ruth's Chris at Harrah's in a heartbeat - I had such an amazing experience there in September). So out of the available restaurants at Caesars, what do you think is best for a sort of "splurge" meal, but not so fancy that my dad can't wear dockers and boat shoes?

I will say that he is not a fan of Mexican, so Mesa is out.

I vote for Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill. If you like steaks he knows what he is doing. Suggest you make a reservation. As for Rao's I have eaten there it was good, but IMHO not that much better than any other Italian place on the strip. Didn't get what the hype was for Rao's.

You think Mesa would be good even if he doesn't like mexican? (I added that in my first post). I have been there before and, while I realize they have other stuff, the vibe/flavoring is decidedly Mexican.

    Jen,
Yes sit is a southwestern flair( not a traditional Mexican restaraunt as Mexican restaraunts go), but you can still get great steaks there. If you don't like southwest foods there is seafood as well as other types. The menue I believe is on the caesars web site if you want more details to help you decide.

They don't take Reward Credits, but the Palm at the entrance of the Forum Shoppes is better than Ruth's Chris IMO (by a lot)

I found Old Homestead underwhelming, I'd rather eat at outback.

Unfortunately, both Rao's and Guy Savoy are a little of dressy for your Dad.

I would go to Mesa grill. It southwestern not Mexican. More Chili's less Don Pablos. It's my favorite in Caesars.

Rao's would be good (i've seen LOTS of people in shorts and t shirts in there). I don't love it though.
Nobu is great but stupid pricing. Even using comps it leaves a bad taste in my mouth
Guy Savoy IS too fancy so don't do that (it's amazing though).
Ramsey's pub is probably too casual
The Noodle 9 joint is pretty good but probably too casual for you.
Haven't tried Old Homestead but reviews are solid for it. I can't imagine it wouldn't at least match Ruth Chris.

    Good luck!

I'll echo the Mesa Grill suggestions.

It is definitely NOT a Mexican Restaurant, but rather a higher end Southwestern Flare Fare type of joint.

I recently had a rib-eye there that'd I'd rank in my all time top 5!

Central by Michael Richard is very good.

Old Homstead = Disappointing meal. Steak was not very good and cut was fatty. I'm a steak guy. I won't be visiting that restaurant again.

Mesa Grill = Fantastic. Eat there. Especially if you like your foo with a spicy kick.

Gordon Ramsey's Pub = So so. I was excited to eat there but ultimately not very impressed. Expensive food that didn't really wow me. It's also a limited menu. Atmosphere is reasonable. It's a lunch at best.

Central = Actually pretty good food but the atmosphere is more low-key almost like a nice diner.

Nobu = Expensive but amazing. Worth every $1. If you like Japanese cuisine you must go here for at least one meal. Everything on the menu is perfection.

The Noodle 9 = Believe it or not this is a good restaurant. It's chinese food but it's done very well and authentic. They make their own noodles in the front and you can see them being made by hand. If you're in the mood for Chinese then go here. Great family style dining too.

Rao = Overrated. It's not great for the price and only eat here if you're craving Italian food. Atmosphere is a bit old-world but not in a good way.

Payards = They have a great breakfast/brunch menu and I eat there all the time. They are open for dinner as well but it's a small menu. It's also a small restaurant but very intimate and great service. Good for 2 people to have a quiet meal that's not too expensive.

Guy Savoy = Only eat there for special occassions imho.

Baccanal Buffet (spelling?) = Holy hell best buffet ever! Eat there after starving yourself all day. $45 a person for the best buffet experience you'll likely every have. Go there at least once. I challenge anyone to argue with me that it's superb for a buffet.

And since you're at Caesars you can maybe cheat and eat in the Forum Shops area which has a slew of restaurants as well but of course you rewards won't work there.

    Hope that helps.

I don;t like Mexican, and really disliked Bobby Flay, but I LOVED Mesa Grill. I finally understood what all the Flay hype was about. It really isn't Mexican food. It is SW food, with a heavy emphasis on steaks. The tamales are not anything like normal tamales, and were the highlight of the meal for me.

    Mesa Grill for dinner.

Ramseys for lunch, or lighter dinner.

    Don't forget the massive buffet.

There are three good ways to spend some reward credits. Don't forget show tickets.

    Mesa Grill

Steaks are VERY Good. Burgers are exceptional. Prickly pear margarita is to die for. If you go for brunch, sweet potatoe hash is a culinary delight.

One of my favorite restaurants in all of Vegas.

Ramseys's is awesome to eat at...but you need to know you can order from both the bar and dinner menu. When sitting in a booth they won't tell you that.
My meal was awesome...great service...and great tasting food. Just don't fall for the signature drinks...$15 dollars for a very small drink which suck.

Well, my host screwed up with our room reservations, so we are unable to stay at Caesar's now... so now my dad is at Bally's and husband and I are at Paris. I'm slightly more familiar with the restaurants at those two properties, esp. Paris as I have stayed there many times. I know that Gordon Ramsay's Steak has gotten many good reviews so I made reservations there for one night. And my dad loves Mon Ami Gabi, so we will probably go there another night.

Hope the info in this thread is able to help someone else!
