My wife is a little skittish concerning anything beyond Fremont Street. If we stayed at Main Street Station can we take the bridge to the California and exit on Fremont Street, rather than walking down Main Street?

The Cal puts you closer but not on Fremont. You used to be able to cross the road and walk through Las Vegas Club but the exit is now closed.

I will say the Main street is a LOT safer to walk than Fremont street in my opinion. In other words neither is dangerous.

I would say walk across the skywalk to The Cal...
Then go THROUGH The Cal and exit in front of the "Diamond Head" Progressives and then you'll basically be right at the back of Binions parking garage...only a few feet more and you're at FSE
    Hell, it's all safe...
My wife and I walked from the Bonneville Transit Center DOWN Main to MSS at 1am! We saw bums, sure...but we never felt NOT safe (there was cars going up and down the road as well as WELL LIT)

Can't one still cut through the Binion's poker room from Ogden?
I've done that so many times, I've lost count.

What Tim and topcard said. Go through the Cal and you will end up kitty corner to the back of Binion's. 2 crosswalks, go through Binion's and you're there. Easy peasy.

Your wife need not worry. As other posters mentioned, either way is safe, but the thru-the-Cal way is more comfortable imho.

If she's still not convinced then just take a cab. Be sure to say "no tunnel"...:poke:

All good advice, especially the part about being a safe walk.

Even though the far NW door to Vegas Club has been closed, you can still enter about 50 ft up on Main Street through another door. Nothing to see in there, depressing actually, but can walk from there, through the casino, to Fremont.

Yeah, that's what I say too.

You have nothing to be concerned about.

so they finally closed that back door to the Vegas Club huh? When did that happen, I know it was open last April when I was there. Nothing to see back there anymore but it was still open. Did they close off the whole room back there or just the door?? I believe there used to be a check in desk back there as well at one time. Man that place was a cool casino when it was seeing its better days. Loved the upstairs restaurant, they had some great hash browns and breakfast for cheap cheap!!

Like others said, if you feel unsafe walking the area, just take the overhead walkway to the Cal, exit the cal at the southeastern corner (by the Cal lanai restaurant) and walk across the street into Binions to get to fremont. I take that path when it is cold (wintertime....brrr) and when it is hot.

You can play it by ear, take the walkway to the Cal and if your wife feels uncomfortable then cross into binions, otherwise you can walk on the street to fremont.

I don't take the main street path unless I am going to the Plaza but I usually go to the fremont or other casinos so go the binions way.
