Has anyone got any chip collections from various casinos they've been to? Read a lot about people who get a $1 chip from each casino they've been to which I think is pretty neat.

Anyone have any limited edition chips or celebration chips at all they want to share?

    Oh yeah, good thread! :)

I started about 20 years ago, keeping a $1 chip from every casino I was at. As some of those casinos closed I thought it was cool I had a chip from a place that no longer existed. Then I started doing more serious collecting, buying chips from closed casinos online. And before the internet there was a Vegas guy who had a monthly chip newsletter and sold chips, I bought several from him. Most of my chips are $1 but I have probably a couple dozen $5 chips.

Chip collecting really took off and casinos noticed. They started issuing all kinds of collectible chips in many denominations. There were tons of Y2K chips. I've kind of stopped collecting in recent years but your thread is going to make me get out my chips tonight and see what I all have. I probably have a couple hundred.

A few places do $8 Chinese New Year chips. I believe Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio and Aria do but may be others. The chips are red (red and the number 8 are considered lucky) and have that years animal on them. I bought one from the Wynn for this year since it is year of the snake and my birth year is also year of the snake.

The chips are larger than a regular chip, I bought it to see if it brought me luck and I got a royal flush for $1000 dollars within 20 minutes of buying it. Superstitious I know but you better believe that chip will be in my pocket my next casino trip.

I really wish I would have started earlier in life, but I only have been keeping $1 chips for about 10 years or so. I don't go out of my way to purchase online chips, but just keep a chip from the casinos I go to. Vegas only. I may have 50 or so.

    that is all !

I wish I had started collecting chips much earlier. Most of the places are gone now. But we do have a very nice collection of .999 Silver Strikes from all over the place, which is some consolation (at least as long as bullion prices stay high!) :D

My husband has been collecting these for prob 20 years. He collects mostly $1 chips, but somehow he has a bunch of $5 also. Usually every trip, a green chip from whatever our home casino is, gets mixed up with the collectables. These are always a nice start on our next trip, lol.

Rather than chips, I have collected the metal $1 slot tokens. They quite common when I started but have virtually become extinct with the advent of TITO machines. I still collect them whenever I see them at a property we haven't been to before, but they are rarely seen today. It was our way of bringing home a cheap rememberance.

    Tokens and chips

I was strictly a slot player when we started going to Vegas in 1995 so I started collecting dollar slot tokens. I have 105 different ones from Vegas but with TITO I no longer have any to collect.

I have a few random chips but usually from special occasions. I have a $5.00 07/07/07 chip from Four Queens that I got on 07/12/07. I also kept my $5.00 and $25.00 Margaritaville chips from this pic in October 2012.

I started about 50 years ago collecting chips. My guess is I have about 300 of them. They range from 0.50 to $100. I have played in every casino shown, but I do have duplicates because of special issues and style changes. I even have chips from my cruise ship travels and from overseas casino's. I always said it was the cheapest souvenir I own. I have discovered, like my coin and currency collection, the value of many have increased over time.

Awesome to hear so many people collect chips, does anyone display them at all? I was thinking about bringing a few cheap ones back with the clear display cases as cheap gifts for people when I'm next there.

There are plenty of methods available for displaying chips, whether in binders, frames, display racks. Individual, 10 chips, 84 chips, whatever you want most anything is available. There is a company that makes customized frames.
Just google chip collecting, message boards, dealers that sell chips plus supplies for chip collectors are out there. eBay is loaded with chips for sell.

If you really want to get involved there is a national club, we have a convention every year in Vegas, summertime, last couple have been at Southpoint.
There are also regional chapters that have meetings for trading and selling.
AC, Riverboat, etc. The national club offers alot of information about collecting.

I started some 25 years ago and have more chips than I can count, all denominations. The ones I value the most are the ones I actually got myself, and speaking of value, chip prices have declined a great deal in the last 5 years.

Just like coins, condition is everything, especially if you eventually join a club and try to trade or sell.

We had ours in frames hanging up, similar to the frame pictured above. We took them down to paint, and everything fell apart. I guess we should be getting new ones, lol

    Hey Now!!!!

I've only been collecting for a few years, but I've managed to collect 128 so far. All the AC, MD, and DEL. casinos, and the rest from the Vegas area. Oh- and one from the Dominican Republic. Almost all are $1 chips, I always look for new series in whichever casinos I already have them from. I'm down to a handful of Vegas area casinos left. Nice to have the ones from places that have closed or changed hands. I stop by the cage, and ask if they have tokens in addition to chips. They will usually find clean ones. I also collect silver strikes, but only ones that I have actually won. I display them in a couple of glass covered shadow boxes I got on ebay.

I collect them at all the casinos i visit. my collection is up to about 250 casinos all over the US and a few from a cruise I went on a few years ago. Ive got most from the entire state of NV. Plenty of indian casinos out there on the road. I ran across one in the middle of nowhere Minnesota a few weeks ago.

I keep mine in a binder with the clear plastic pages. I actually had to buy more pages last time I was in Vegas cause I was out of room.

They have cut outs, like coin collectors have, that can be then matted and framed. I've seen a couple people's collections that were framed this way and they are pretty cool.:peace::beer:
