One item that I forgot to include in my November report ....
We were at the Orleans to do our Matchplay coupons at one of their Roulette tables. And, as we were preparing to place our single bets, a young fellow, about 30, buys in for $500 in chips. He then proceeded to spread his entire stack on the top half of the layout ... single numbers, 2-number splits, 3-number rows, 4 number boxes, the zeroes, etc., etc., all on the top half of the table layout.

The wheel spins, and the ball fell in 33-Black ... and the dealer sweeps away ALL of his losing chips ... all $500 worth ... and the guy walks away like he was in complete shock.

At first, I felt bad for him as we made a $10 profit on our bets, but then I thought how crazy it was for him to make those bets for his entire buy-in.
It was sad ... very sad .....

Some roulette players are a strange breed. Not sure why he chose to eliminate half the wheel on his bets. $500 would last me a long time at the wheel.

He may have just as well put it all on an even chance! But roulette players like the 35/1 payoff when they hit their straight up, even though the end result would be almost the same dependent on way the chips were placed.

He could have gotten kicked in the junk on the strip and actually made himself $20 in the process.

I saw something like that at the craps table years ago. A young marine it looked like came up with a few hundred. threw it on the field and of course lost.

Came back about an hour later and did the same thing, same result.

The next time a couple of us tried to talk him out of it but he told us to screw off and of course lost again.

I asked the dealer if he knew how much he blew and he said it was about $1700 or so.

No fun whatsoever just trying to show off for his girlfriend.

Maybe he came back later and bought in for a thousand and spread out his chips on the lower half of the board.... you know, the old "chase" strategy. :poke:

That $500 could very well have been nothing to him. I do not play roulette often, but I will occasionally throw $75-$100 on one spin as I pass by...3 quarters covering 6 numbers, plus middle field. Perhaps his "pass-by" shot is $500.

I have a funny story. Was playing at the golden nugget and some guy tried to place 10 bucks on 11 and it was a $20 min table so they said sorry sir it's a 20 dollar min so he took his remaining 15 dollars and put it with his bet on number 11 And guess what it landed on 11.

I walked past a roulette table in the Flamingo on my August trip this year and noticed 8 blacks in a row showing on the results board and thought fuck it I'm in for a hundy on red. Drunkish bloke next to me said yeah me too its a dead cert and put his hundy on red.
I casualy said "mate never a dead cert with roulette" ( me and my big mouth ) friggin zero pops up :vomit:

I was playing at a $5 min table at Paris and I saw the same thing, however the dealer told us the player had just won $7,000 at the table next to ours so need not feel sorry for him.

I never let that kind of thing phase me. You never know what the guy did three hours earlier....he may have run a $250 buy in up to $25000.

The reverse is also true....I see someone who hits for a $5000 win. You don't know if he was already down $50,000 for the day

I won every night at the tiny casino at our hotel in Dominican a few years ago playing BJ, a quick in with $100 buy in and out with a $500 win cap. After about the 3rd night it was uncomfortable being watched like a hawk. Last night there I got down to $25 after up and down, so decided to cash out. The cage didn't have a $5 bill and asked me to wait,,,,,,,really???! There was a roulette table right there so I said never mind and the green on number 13....yep it hit and I felt all eyes on me as I cashed out. Weird little casino where minimal play is being watched.

Not roulette, but I played some bj at some casino in Lima Peru when I was there on vacation. I hit a hot streak and literally cleaned out the entire rack. The last win they paid me with like 50 $1 chips (or whatever the equiv Peruvian peso chip was). I wasn't betting too much (I think max bet allowed was a little less than $200 usd) but it was def. out of the ordinary there. It was mostly locals and other Peruvian hotel guests playing min bet (a few usd).

I tipped really well so I'm sure they were loving me / cheered me on as I attempted to clear the entire rack (I think It ended up being about $3.5k). Mission accomplished but I ended up giving it all back over the remainder of the trip.

there is nothing i love more than the 1-spin $500 buy-in at a roulette table.

Done it many many times and the big wins are more than enough to erase the surely larger number of losses from my memory.

My all-time favorite was one Sunday morning at the Palazzo, literally no one else in the area and hit the #17 w/$200 straight up for $7,000 on a trip where I had been down $5,000. On this spin the ball came down initially right on the #17, bounced hard back up and straight back down into the #17 where it stayed. Don't often see that kind of landing!

I know I've posted these before, but I never get tired of seeing them :evillaugh:
