I booked 2 nights at the MGM using MyVegas

I havent stayed at the MGM since the early 90's im assuming the My vegas room have to be the lowest level and that would be petite king

Couldnt find many recent videos online

    General state of the room/hallways?
    When were they redone?
    Flat screen ?
    In room Safe?
    Separate shower/tub?
    How's the access from/to Strip?
Will they try to sell me an upgrade at check in?
    Is it worth it?
    20$ trick at MGM ?

It will be a solo trip and for comparison im used to PH hollywood Hip / Flamingo Go while in Vegas

If this is a solo trip, the room should be acceptable. There's no doors to the bathroom just the frosted glass door for the toilet. Access to/from the strip is the best out of all the MGM rooms as there is separate elevators back behind the west wing bar with an exit right out into the alley behind the grand canyon gift shop. $20 trick is iffy. When I was there last weekend, they didn't have any suites available to upgrade me to and no grand rooms with king beds left either. There's just a stand up shower in the petite king, but just a tub in the grand king. I actually prefer just the shower. It's not on the scale of hollywood hip or GO but it will work. I like the casino so I enjoy staying there.

The person booking me at myVegas automatically bumped me up into one of their upgraded rooms. If they sound like they are going to book you in the petite king, maybe mention something about if you could possibly get into a "Grand King". They have the ability to put you there (maybe based on availability). It was super nice. If you can get into a "Grand King" it should blow PH/Flamingo away. I thought the room was slightly better than Mirage, ffs. I just like Mirage's location better. :(

Shortly after booking two nights via MyVegas, I was sent an email offering to upgrade to a Grand King for $10/night. When I finally got around to accepting the offer, probably around 5 days later, it had expired. So if you get the email and want to upgrade, don't procrastinate.

Hopefully I can upgrade at check-in.

We were in the Petite King in Feb and found it fine for us (being from the UK we are used to smaller hotel rooms) . If you are solo or with your other half then you should have no problems with the frosted glass set up of the toilet/shower.

As has been said access to the strip is quick if you go out via the bar and out at the Grand Canyon shop , we were at the end of the corridor and were only seconds away from the lifts.

I stayed in a West Wing room once. It was for my second trip in April 2010. On the small side, but nice enough. It does offer quick access to the Strip. Of the seven rooms that I've had, it's the only one that didn't give me a good view.

I stayed in a West Wing room in 2010. Out of all the rooms I have stayed in before and since then, it was a big letdown for me. The hallway was dark, and dirty. The room was the same. It'll work as a place to crash and like others have said, very easy Strip access from the West Wing. I might have just gotten a bad room but didn't bother with trying to move. I have stayed in a new Grand room since then and really enjoyed that room.

You said you've stayed at PH and GO rooms before. I personally have gone back to PH 3 times and will continue to do so in the future. I've always gotten a HH room at PH and didn't have any of the issues I had with a West Wing room. I have also stayed in a GO room as well at the Flamingo. I would choose a room at PH over the West Wing any day, but thats just me. Let us know how it turns out for you.

I just received an email for an upgrade to an Executive King Suite for $25/night. (I booked two nights via myVegas) It will only be me, so I'm trying to justify the extra cost I'd absolutely upgrade to a Grand King for $10/night, but didn't get that offer.

I did, however, notice is that the offer is only coming up for one night; probably because there are two separate reservations for each night. I'll try and call later, hopefully my Skype will work this time. Hmm what to do...

Just got off the phone...the reservation agent was super friendly and actually called the marketing dept and explained my situation. The marketing gal said that IF there were upgrades available that it would be $30/night, she mentioned something about that being the rate that it costs to comp the room? Not sure what she meant by that, but she said that she updated my reservation and noted that IF there are upgrades avail then I will get that quoted rate. I asked her if that was for the Grand King or for the Executive Suite, she made it sound like I was already booked into a Grand King. (Even though when I pull my reservation up on MGM's website it says West Wing King...who knows??! LOL)

I'll just see what they have to offer me at check in. If they offer me an Executive Suite for the quoted price I will take it, but I wont pay that price for a Grand King. I figure it wont hurt to see what they try to charge me, if it's too much I wont take it and I'm not out anything. No biggie.

I check in January 1 (but not til around 9PM) so we'll see what kinds of rooms they have available by then and if people have cleared out from New Years by then. I'll update after checking in.

Go to the MGM Grand's main page, scroll down to the bottom where they have all the teeny tiny print...click on "YOUR RESERVATION"...it will prompt you for the reservation number and either the last 4 digits of the CC# or your email. (CC# didn't pull anything up so I used my email address and it came right up)...you can email your reservation to yourself, print it or cancel from that page. Hope that helps

My wife and I stayed for 7 nights at the end of August and we found the west wing room perfectly fine. We're from the U.K. like a previous poster so don't know if that has something to do with it!

We didn't feel cramped and there was plenty of hanging space and drawer space, in room safe, blackout blind, more than enough power sockets, a good sized comfortable bed and an effective air conditioning unit. The bathroom wasn't a problem but could see how it could make it awkward if staying with a friend or relative. Will say that the shower was a very good size and there were plenty of towels for the two of us.

With regards to access it was brilliant. You can be on the strip or the New York, New York corner in a few minutes and we hardly waited for an elevator at any time of day using the elevators via the west wing bar.

After reading some of the comments/reviews on here I was a little worried but we were pleased with the room and would stay in one again.
