    My Trip Report

We just got back from Reno. This is our second visit in the last few months to the Peppermill. I have to say I am impressed with the staff and accommodations at the Peppermill.

    Room
The Luxury Suite we stayed in was comfortable. We had an offer from Peppermill based on our last trip for a standard room in the Tuscany Tower, but we did not like that room and upgraded to a Peppermill tower suite with a separate room and whirlpool tub. I love those things! When I booked, they told me the upgrade would be 130.00 per night, which I was fine with as my husband likes some privacy.

    Restaurants
We enjoyed the room and the restaurants we went to were decent for what they are-- They also have Reno prices and not Vegas prices. Our first trip we had tried the steakhouse which was expensive and horrid. So, I was happy that the other restaurants seemed better.

    Gambling
We mostly play 1.00 Video Poker and some craps. At the MGM we played DDB double double bonus poker and did OK though we came out with a loss in the end. We started out Thursday night playing DDB aces and faces which is a new game for us and has better odds than DDB. From the start it felt wrong and we just lost and lost. DDB can be a fickle friend and we knew that if we kept playing we would eventually hit something. We did not. How I love and hate this game!!!! We switched back to regular 9/6 DDB, and had a few hits, but we were still big in the red. Finally our last day we hit 9/6 Jack or better and had our first winning streak. That was fun! We gained back over half our losses to that point in our final hours before we left. Phew---not sure we can stomach DDB anymore. It takes guts and a giant bankroll. We may not be playing that as much as we have.

Drink service was great on the casino floor, and the craps dealers are great.

    Comps

So at Peppermill we got a call our second night from a host saying they were going to comp the remainder of our now upgraded room, and we should come meet her the next day sometime. At Peppermill, express comps are very aggressive, but the hosts do not comp meals or other things charged to your room. In the end we payed nothing for the room or our meals and we still have about 100.00 left in comps. Our new host was very nice and she told us to contact her in the future should we wish to come back. This was nice personalized service. I think I could get used to having a host! She did say they do not look at how much you win or loose, it is all about how much you play.

    Tiers:
This was strange. When we got back from our first trip we noticed we had jumped several tiers to platinum. I was dubious and thought it might be a ploy and they would just switch it back once we got there, or try to get us to gamble more to keep it next year. I was wrong. They are honoring our status through next year. That meant we get to check in and out at the VIP services desk and have access to the VIP lounge--which has a hosted bar. A really nice touch.

    Overall
We really like this place--but we mostly gamble and are not into shows or other forms entertainment. We like the feel of the place and the staff and rooms are great. The comps are decent and we will be back.

    Glad you enjoyed Reno/Peppermill..
I have a few comments though...

-I'm REALLY surprised you chose a Tower Room over a Tuscany room...last year for Balloon Races, we got comped a Tuscany Suite (I would imagine just a "standard" room in the Tuscany lineup) and it was AMAZING! I have also stayed in the Tower rooms, and it was just leaps and bounds better
-They're good on comps...but if you consistently win & play videopoker...expect to be cut WAAAAY back. ESPECIALLY if you were playing the 10/6 DDB machines.

    yes--thats what we hear

We have also heard the rooms are nicer in the Tuscany Tower side. Next time! Also, at the moment we have no worries about winning too much. We have gotten quite good at loosing.:rolleyes2: Hooray for comps.

    Thanks for the advice!

Really happy to read this report... thanks for sharin'. The Peppermill and Atlantis are probably the "class" of the Reno properties and they do have a Vegas "feel" to them IMHO. The Reno gaming scene often gets a bad rap here on the board, but they do offer good value, comps and odds for the most part.

I whole-heartedly agree...If I went soley on gambling ALONE, I would choose Reno over Vegas EVERYTIME.
    Faster cocktail service
    Better food value
    Better paytables/odds

I wholly agrethat the two best are the Peppermill and Atlantis. They certainly do real well doing HAN as do the other casinos. That being said there is something about them regarding their customer service compared to a number of other properties in the Reno area. Just my opinion.

I went to a 21st birthday at Peppermill Nov 15-17.
Highlights:The Tuscany Tower room was fantastic.
The sushi place was so good we went Friday AND Saturday nights. (Don't do the all you can eat for $25 each.) Order the Oceano and Mountain rolls.
Every single dealer said thank you every single time I tipped. If I laid it out as a bet for them, they thanked me twice.
Steak and eggs at the cafe was delicious. $7 after midnight. I was a big spender and picked up the check.
Liquor store right across the street.
A hot craps table doesn't hurt the experience, either.
    The pool area is beautiful.
HD tv screens showing scenes all over the world (including Antarctica) all throughout the casino are beautiful.

I highly reccommend the Peppermill for Reno trips.
