Ouch. They strung along their employees for a month.

Wow. Firing a whole crew of people 4 days before the holiday. Stay classy, TI.

Even though it was pretty cheesy, it is a loss to lose a free on-strip show. (if you want to call it that!). But for 1st timers coming to Vegas and on a budget it was something to do and see.
We saw it when it was the pirate show and once again later when it was the sirens show. Was going to take our 1st timer friends to see this....oh well, but its too bad.

Yea, I haven't seen it in years but it was cool for Vegas newbies.

The bigger question is what are they going to do with all that space? If they build in front of Senor Frogs that really screws their whole patio draw to the place. Maybe Ruffin is just going to be cheap and leave the ships static until he gets a good offer to do something with the space?!?

Sure the show was free. But it drew tremendous crowds, which in turn drew people into the casino after the show; the original intent of this attraction.

Now what? That part of the Strip is becoming a no-mans land already. What's gonna attract the crowds? The Tram from Mirage? :evillaugh

I hate it when people lose their jobs over the holidays...

Can't say I'll shed any tears over the Sirens show ending; I loved the old Pirate show, though. It is a loss to the Strip and one of the attractions that was a crowd pleaser for young and old and a 1st trip "must see". Too bad, and right before the holidays. Real class, TI!

Can't say I will miss this show in the least. Watching it on an overcrowded sidewalk was one of the worst Vegas experiences I have had.

Though I feel sorry for the performers, this change was long overdue. I'd rather have more restaurant and shopping choices than that cheese-ball show. I'm looking forward to the new direction TI is taking.

I would like it if it was a nicely themed space that blended well with TI, and extended the property out to the strip. However Ruffin has shown he has no taste for design. The changes he has made to the TI façade was the undoing of Wynn's great design.

I could care less about the show, but I expect the outcome will be a cobbled together eyesore to generate some revenue. He should take a cue from his neighbors who have much better taste in exterior styling, minus "The Quad".

I wouldn't b surprised if this thought crossed their mind. The show has a reputation as one of the places that pickpockets thrive. You don't want that kind of of name in the tourist community.

I'm sorry to see the performers lose their jobs, especially right before Turkey Day, but I'm glad to see one less Disneyesque attraction. I thought the original show was pretty cool, but absolutely hated the Sirens.

Fortunately that did not happen to me, but you're right, it seems like the ideal spot for that kind of stuff. instead of being robbed, I just had a thousand people bump into me and step on my feet. Big fun

    Well this sucks, IMO.

I saw the show the first time I went to Vegas and as people have said it's a great little show for Vegas 1st timers.
We had some friends with us and we took them there and it was nothing special for us, but they loved it.

So personally it doesn't affect me because I've seen it twice now and had no intention of standing in the crowd to see it again, but it does suck that Vegas seems to be taking a huge jump away from the themes of casinos.

I said this in another post, if the more boring facade's of places like Cosmo, Wynn and now The Quad are the new thing in Vegas, fine. Use that on new properties. But places like Riviera, and downtown should keep the older Vegas look/feel. And all of the themed resorts that went up over the years should extenuate those themes, not strip them away until they look and feel like every other place on the strip.

But all that aside, sleazy move to lie to the performers for a month and then can them days before Thanksgiving. :grrr:

Does this mean the ships are going away? I always thought that the pirate theme, show or not, was pretty cool.

The article said it's to make way for more retail space. I can't fathom that this will help draw new people to the property.

Soon it will all be a "Strip" mall.

Goodbye to the Las Vegas I knew.

As many said, I won't miss it. But it's a part of the Vegas that's disappearing that made vegas feel special. More shopping? Gosh, I hope not. There's plenty with the fashion show mall in that area. TI had potential, Ruffin is just following the herd mentality. What the strip needs is a hotel/casino that caters to the gambler more so than ever now! Make it a joint with good VP tables, better BJ rules and watch how many will come and play there. I bet the bottom line would increase and it would catch on! :poke:

I'm guessing they extend Senor Frogs out into the pirate bay. There were rumors it would be extended into the new mall to accomodate more guests.....but I think they'll just come forward now. The front facade will be Gilleys and Senor Frogs to try and lure people into the property.
