Here are a few pics of construction work at Treasure Island and the recently completed Bally's food court from last week. I wanted to take pics at NY/NY/Monte Carlo but the access area was too restricted:

Appreciate the pics. Hate that there is more shopping being added.

Not sure why people get their panties in such a wad over casinos adding retail space, especially this one at TI. The article I read on this stated that this is a 40,000sf development. That's nothing, especially when 25% of it is going to be a CVS/Walgreens (don't recall which). Even plans like what Tropicana has proposed aren't big developments. These retail developments are going to attract more convenience tenants (drugstores, restaurants, etc.). They aren't going to be shopping malls that are on par with Miracle Mile, FSM, Forum Shops, Canal Shoppes, etc.

While I totally understand that not everyone wants to shop while in Vegas (or anywhere for that matter), I don't understand why you would be so against plans for such. Many people don't like to dine at high end restaurants, or go to clubs, or to gamble, or go to shows, but they don't run around to every thread that discusses a new venue to piss on it. If you don't like to shop, don't shop at these new developments, but I don't find anything constructive about bellyaching in every thread about it.

Not liking the latest "trend" is not exactly getting my "panties in such a wad". It's called personal preference. We all have them. If you consider this "pissing" on a thread then you have a very thin skin indeed. I'm sorry you have that condition. Try lightening up, you'll live longer and happier.

It just adds nothing to the discussion. Furthermore, none of these recent developments have even displaced or replaced any existing attractions or venues. They're being built in open space. I get that you and others don't like to shop, but how does a new retail development negatively affect you? It doesn't, you can still do exactly what you like to do right now in Vegas and not bother with these new developments. There are plenty of developments and businesses that come into Vegas that I have absolutely no interest in. I simply choose to not patronize them, and it doesn't affect me one iota.

You've been on every thread discussing retail development on here just to chime in with "I hate retail centers and shopping". I just don't understand what the point is?

A large part of this board is made up of people giving their opinions. Pros and cons. Likes and dislikes. I dislike the new trend of retail and I have said so. If you look at my post history you won't find a long string of retail bashing posts. My intent is not to piss on threads or upset anyone. If I've done so I apologize and move on.

I think a CVS/Wallgreens will do well there. It's always nice to have one nearby to pickup various toiletry items or even cold beer.

Ok I can agree with that :) I do like having one of those nearby wherever I stay. New shoes and clothes and jewelry I can do without ;)

I like a variety. Miracle Mile saved me since I was getting married and forgot my cuff links. Aria wanted to charge $175 for cuff links.

    Miracle Mile.....$25.

    I like variety in Vegas.

My question is why another CVS/Walgreen's there at TI? I stayed at TI for 5 nights last summer and every morning I'd walk across the strip and get my Dr. Pepper fix at the Walgreen's in front of the Venetian. It would take me less than 10 minutes.:confused2::confused2::confused2:

Because on busy days they will get more footfall from two stores. It's why McDonalds are everywhere lol.

I would assume it's a CVS. So we're talking about two different companies. Kind of like asking why would they put a Burger King in across the street from McDonald's. You'll probably just go to whichever is more convenient for you, but your money isn't going to the same company.

I don't dislike that they are adding another retail space, I just hate the way TI / Ruffin is doing it. I always thought the façade at TI was cool. I hate the look now that he butchered the front end to make room for Senor Frogs, Starbucks, Gilleys, and now CVS. There's good design and bad design. TI has opted for bad design. He could take a lesson from other developers around the strip on how to integrate this stuff with his property.

I don't go to Vegas to shop. I guess free shows are on the way out. Put a seven eleven in at the volcano.

Lower end shopping venues are nice to have in Vegas. The ABC liquor store and Walgreens downtown are convenient. I agree though that the TI kind of screwed up the view of the front of their property.:peace::beer:
