Harrah's Atlantic City

Hey guys,

Just moved about a month ago to the DC area and after working non-stop and not knowing anybody, I decided to book a trip to Harrah's AC. Most of my TR credits had been from Harrah's Cherokee in NC (I lived in CLT) and out in Vegas and this will be my first time in AC- regarding that, can you guys give me some details on what to expect at least when juxtaposted with other gaming cities? I only booked Friday (comped) as I don't know if I will want to stay Sat yet as well because I hear its quite dirty there and am not sure about the overall experience.

I should be playing between $25-50 hands of BJ and was hoping that, like Vegas (and unlike Harrah's Cherokee) they comp drinks for table game players? Also, are CET properties in AC pretty good at comping Sat night hotels for someone in my play range? I am in their system at $50 per hand based on the pit management's statements in Cherokee (Who I am also a friend with outside of the casino). Is there anything else I should do to enjoy my trip?

And finally, what CET property is the best as far as rules go for BJ players within my bet range?

Having lived right on the border of Delaware and Pennsylvania for 11 years AC was a short jaunt for us and most of our stays was CET properties. Harrahs is one of the better casino hotels in AC and to know it is not on the boardwalk. We always found Harrahs to be clean and well kept and their buffet was very good during our last trip. Like I always remind people when in AC know your surroundings especially when on the boardwalk or walking outside of the properties.
As for gambling at Harrahs AC no different than what you would find in Vegas.

Since you are now in DC keep in mind you do have a great verity of casinos within a an hour or two drive. You have the 3 in Delaware and the newer Maryland Live casinos, Harrahs Chester Downs right off of I-95 near Philly, to the west of DC there is Charles Town and north into Pa. Penn National.

Harrahs AC is nice, the best among the CET casinos in AC. Its in the marina area, not the boardwalk. So your closest casino nearby is the Borgata which is a great place. Golden Nugget is near there too but I don't know anything about it. As a first timer it is worth making a trip to the boardwalk casinos for a while. Though the outside boardwalk itself will be pretty empty because of the cold.

The blackjack rules are the same at all the CET properties for the most part. Weekend comp rooms in AC are much more difficult than Vegas, but if you got Friday night comped at Harrahs that is pretty good. Ask for the waterfront or bayview towers, if not those than the marina tower.

Yes drinks are free and service at the tables has always been good at Harrahs in my experience. At the machines they use an electronic drink ordering system which is pretty cool. At $50/hand BJ you may be able to play in the high limit room, I often see 1 or 2 tables in there with $50 mins and they are popular. Though Friday night its less likely.

I'd rank the CET casinos in AC from best to worst as: Harrahs, Caesars, Showboat, and Ballys. Ballys is a distant fourth too. The casino is rundown and its where most of the bus passengers arrive, a lot of which are a scraggly bunch. But I got an email from Ballys recently saying they were refurbishing the casino so maybe it will get better.

If you want to grab some good cheap grub outside the casino, grab a sub from White House or a gyro from Bill's Souvalki on the boardwalk.

 

You will be pleasantly surprised at how nice Harrahs AC is. To me it was on par with Vegas casinos and much nicer than Cherokee.

I went on a junket last Feb, got great service, dining was good, and gambling was even better. Was in the older Marina tower but found the room clean and comfortable. Saw a few questionable people in casino during wee hours but security kept an eye on them. Never felt unsafe.

Boardwalk was great, even in the winter, really enjoyed dining at The Pier.

 

I have to agree Harrah's is by far the nicest of the AC- CET properties.

BJ games about the same but no double deck . Side note- I have only found the Sands in Pa. to offer it " locally" and it's 50. Per hand. Please if anyone knows where else I can find it in this area, let me know

AC drink service is ok runs 24 hours a day.
And like a previous poster said, if you have a Friday night you should be able to get a Saturday. AC is hurting so hopefully that could work to your advantage!

One other thing at Showboat high limit room starts at 50.( at least anytime I have been there )

Harrahs is overall a good place to stay

They have a free shuttle that goes back and forth to the Boardwalk if you want to check that out while youre there.
The pool at Harrahs is pretty remarkable ,its in a huge atrium with palm trees so you think youre in Vegas or the Caribbean. Lots of dining options,some good happy hours also.
Weekends the pool converts at night to a club if thats your thing,also the Eden Lounge usually has some good bands and the Xbar has DJ's after 10 or so.
You can walk to the Golden Nugget in 15 min. tops,my favorite spot now,they run all kinds of promos and giveaways during the day.
If you've never been to AC ,theres plenty to see and do,have fun.

 

Harrah's AC is my home casino, athough I mix in Showboat alot in the summer months. The drink service is second to none at Harrahs. Either through the electronic ordering system on the machines, or at the tables, you never go more than a few moments before there's opportunity to order your free drinks.

They have quite the selection of table games including every specialty game you can think of. They have BJ, 21+3, Double attack, spanish, let it ride, pai gow, fortune pai gow, emperor pai gow, baccarat, 4 card poker, 4 card crazy, Ultimate Texas holdem, Bonus Texas holdem, Miss Stud, Caribbean stud, roulette, rapid roulette, craps, 3 card poker (million dollar bet) and about 2000 slot/video poker machines. Whatever you are looking for you will find here.

Plus the hotel is very very nice, with plenty of suites and towers. We like the Atrium suites ($20 trick or diamond gets you in) because the elevators decend to the middle of the casino, right at the heart of the action.

The only draw back is the choice of restaurants, although for cheap food Bills burgers is awesome, and they have a couple of expensive places on the second floor. They also have a food court next to their absolutely beautiful yearround indoor pool, where they have nightly parties. The food court is where we get breakfast (sack o subs).

All the rooms have a mini-fridge but the gift shop does not sell beer and wine or liquor for some reason.If you like to enjoy a drink in your room,you must bring it in from outside or order room service.
Just across the bridge in Brigantine there is the St George's Pub that has packaged goods.It's about 2 miles into the town and make a right at the BurgerKing it is behind it in a strip mall.

Also the pizza place in the food court is pretty good,but as most of the food court places go-it is double your TR comp points.Bill's is still one-for-one I believe and just imagine a fancier Burger King..Nothing spectacular but open pretty late..Have a great trip!

 

Just got back and had a great time, thanks all! It really did have the Vegas strip feel and I won quite a bit which made the 3 1/2 bus ride worth it lol. I ended up hitting Maryland Live last night when I got back also and was pleasantly surprised- the casino is in a mall lol. Good rules at all the games at MD live also, they actually stay on a soft 17 which was nice and all was 3:2

 

those rules are mandated in Maryland like they are in Pennsylvania. Either state is great for mid rollers or higher but low rollers like me will be priced out. Now only if state governments would raise the minimum payback on video poker to 99%. :evillaugh
