    My Trip Report

Woo hoo, finally the time has arrived, leaving Grand Junction now only 3 hours later than I wanted. Now just a quick 7 hour drive. ;)

First 4 days at Gold Coast for VP tourney then on to Aria for 3 nights, will try to post lots of pix as my writing sucks!

Nice relaxing beginning to trip. Check in was incredibly fast at Gold Coast for a Friday night. It literally took longer to walk from valet to registration desk than it did to check in. I was second in line with 3 clerks working. Tried $20 upgrade but nothing was available, they were sold out. Gold Coast is not bad, nothing fancy but nice.

After 7.5 hour drive, started out by hitting VP machines at the main long bar. Nothing better than Full houses but played for an hour on $60, walked with $60, good start.

Switched to $25 Pai Gow Poker, and played rest of night at same table, probably 3 hours. Up and down and all around, you know the drill UNTIL, hit that sweet straight flush with $10 bet, so that was $500. Eventually walked with having turned $200 buy in into $500. I must say, I do like holding a $500 chip in my hand.

On tap for today, have both rounds of my VP tournament around noon today, small turnout, they even reduced prize pool and made it a one day tournament. But I will gladly win first place and the $2500. :D

Dinner tonight at the Hofbrauhaus with a coworker and his wife, never been before, should be fun.

    Nice win! and many more...

GC tables are just the best! What a playground. Their craps tables are usually packed.

Quick update as I prepare to head over to Monte Carlo to watch the Broncos crush San Diego.

Played in the small VP tourney yesterday, only 280 people so prize structure small 1st place 2500 all the way to 35th place which paid $100.
I rubbed Budha n guess it helped as even with my lousy score I got 33rd, so won a $100. So that covered my 3 nights and entry fee, not bad.

Of course I needed a small celebration so had lunch at about 3:30 where you would think it wouldn't be crowded but attached pic says otherwise and of course many of you will recognize this place.

Except for that initial straight flush, gambling has been dismal, still waiting on my first 4oak, hopefully today.

Oh for you Pai Gow folks, progressive at GC is 162,000. Sat morning someone hit 5 aces for a cool 17,800, alas not me!

Nice having your room and a VP tourney paid for by a 33rd place win! And congrats on the straight flush ~ it's been a while since I've seen one. Sending good Pai Gow juju your way!

Pai Gow rules. Couldn't wait till April, going back in January 2014 for another Pai Gow marathon. Hopefully husband will leave Pai Gow table in tact this trip.

Great time at the Pub at Monte Carlo, redeemed $50 MyVegas reward, easy peasy, maybe 2 people in line at Mlife desk. Great place to watch football games by the way. Before I went there, made quick stop at Sunset Station, played a little .25 VP where I finally got a 4 of a Kind, just the 250 coin variety, walked with $30 profit. FYI, progressive jackpot there at 115,000, so for now sticking with the Boyd properties (Coast) because it is 162K.

Tonight dinner will be at Ping Pang Pong, great chinese restaurant at Gold Coast, then hiking tomorrow at Red Rocks and a visit to Red Rock Casino for first time.

Hmm, just finished dinner at Ping Pang Pong, wonderful place, highly recommend it. I started with pot stickers, very good and then ordered the Cantonese Sausage Fried Rice dish, picture attached. Besides the sausage includes egg whites and sliced Chinese broccoli stems. And as you can see, I had plenty for late night snack and lunch tomorrow.

Oh yeah, won $50 playing Pai Gow right before dinner. Just about even for the trip.

How was the Hofbräuhaus? Did you have anything worth mentioning?

Quick update as this is moving day from Gold Coast to Aria, quite the contrast I believe!

Monday was great day, visited Orleans which I hadn't in years, kinda slow on Monday morning but still fun. Didn't gamble any, just collecting data on Pai Gow table conditions.

Headed out to Red Rock Canyon but first stopped at the Red Rock Casino for a quick bite to eat at Rubio's in food court, pretty good tacos. Red Rock casino is nice but we had some hiking to do so left without gambling (oh my).

Red Rock was great as usual plus the weather was perfect. It was a free admission day so park was really crowded. All trail head parking areas were completely full but no problem, you just park on side of the road. I have attached a few pics from the hike, tried getting different ones from the traditional pics of the big Red Rocks. Some are just some interesting rocks, one we so quite a few of, I have now labelled measles rocks, you will see. Sadly, when we were leaving we noticed lots of police activity and even helicopters landing, found out late last night that a 70 year old man died while hiking on one of the trails.

Had a lovely dinner at Border Grill using their email signup coupon for 2for1. Had dinner outside on the upstairs patio that looks out over the swimming pool complex, quite nice. I had a grilled steak with bacon wrapped brussel sprouts, was quite good, sorry forgot pictures.

Then my friend had a pass to Foundation Room so we went up there for drinks. Views of course were spectacular and it is really a nice place to hang out. We were checking out the private rooms looking at the decor but boy as soon as we set down, security was there informing us they were indeed "private" areas and we were welcome to look around but not actually sit down. At least the guy was polite about it.

Got back to hotel about 1am and realized, I did not gamble at all, thought I should correct that but alas, technically since it was past midnight, I still would not have gambled at all on Nov. 11, 2013, yes, marking the date because how often do you spend a day in Las Vegas and not actually gamble at all.

Today is moving day, heading over to Aria for 3 nights on the MyVegas comp, looking forward to it. Can't wait to see what kind of room I get, but trying to keep expectations down since last May when I was there I was upgraded to a SkySuite.

Hoping to head downtown before Aria to finally make it to the Mob Museum.

    I missed it!

Sorry, I had to bail on the Hofbrauhaus, wasn't feeling that good from shall I say the night before drinking activities. My friends that went said they really enjoyed though, thought food was great and well priced. One is a big beer drinker and he was very happy with the selections. They cabbed over and walked back from restaurant to the Monte Carlo so they got some exercise.
