Do you prefer casino hopping over concentrated play at one property?

Yes! I absolutely love to casino hop. That is one of the things about downtown that is so appealing is that it is easy to casino hop. Play for an hour two here...walk down the street, stop into another joint and play for a while. Get up, move downt the block. Rinse and repeat. Yep, thats the way I do it.

I like being able to 'casino-hop'. That's one reason why I love downtown.
If I'm doing well at a given property, I will stay there - sometimes for many consecutive hours.
But if I start having a bad run, at multiple tables, I like being able to walk 200ft (often less) and be in another casino.

I enjoy casino hopping. But it’s more about seeing other places and getting a “change of scenery” than it is gambling in other places. Sure, I’ll gamble at pretty much any casino I stop in. But I usually prefer to do my more “serious” gambling at my home casino.

I like that over the course of a few days, I get to know the dealers, pit bosses, bartenders, CWs etc. (Or if I’ve stayed at that casino recently, I already sort of know them.) In addition to the fact that I feel this makes for better conversation (rather than the usual “where ya from” type stuff), I also think I get better service this way: Dealers and servers, I think, are more apt to give you good service after they already know that you’ll tip them reasonably well. And a pit boss who knows you blew a boatload of money the night before (and were still friendly and tipped) is more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt when there’s a mistake or misdeal or if you just want a “courtesy shuffle”. And I’d be willing to bet that regulars who aren’t dicks get rated a bit better than someone the PB doesn’t know from Adam.

I also like the convenience of gambling in my home casino. If I get tired or too drunk, I’m only a short walk from my room. I don’t have to find the cab stand in an unfamiliar place or have to walk half the strip when all I want to do is crash. And if I should happen to win big, I don’t have to worry about looking over my shoulder as I walk through the less populated areas of the strip. I just go up to my room and put the cash in the safe.

And, of course, the comps are better when your play is concentrated.

So I guess what I’m saying is: I like to casino hop. But I prefer gambling in my home casino.

I love to casino hop, I rarely give a majority of my play to the place I stay. Most of my trips are relatively short, 2-3 days, but I still manage to play in 6-8 casinos.

I don't know if this casino hopping as much as hotel changing. We usually have offers for two nights here, three nights there, and so on, which provides a good incentive for relocating over a weeklong trip. However, even if we could stay in one place for free (and sometimes we can), we'd still move just for the change in venue. When we get caught in a losing trend, we'll find something else to do or go to another casino even if it's out of the way; such as from Suncoast to downtown. Whatever it takes!

I do like casino hopping, but don't do it as much as I like. Given the up front comps that I get, I usually try to give my home casino the majority of my play.

Some. It depends on what hotel we are staying at. But we usually give almost all of our play to our base casino.

I prefer casino hopping for booze and food and generally checking stuff out...and sometimes I even gamble a bit as I hop.

This very accurately sums up my feelings. On a three day weekend trip, I like to do at least one evening of casino hopping from after dinner to 1:00 AM or so... then back to home base to finish out the night for a few more hours.

Yep, that's one ambitious (to use but one word) plan, and just illustrates how one person's fun is not necessarily someone else's idea of fun. To me, it sounds like a sentence at hard labor. Heck - I wouldn't even want to go to Vegas if I had to do it! I'd be worn out and probably sick by the end of the day. Have a great time and let us know how it goes.

Absolutely. I tend to roam the strip usually heading south to as far as some craps at Excalibur and hit each casino for some blackjack/vp play all the way to Palazzo.

Love to casino hop. 30 years ago I would start at the Sahara and go south to the Trop, cross the Strip to the Hacienda and work my way back to the Stardust.

Now that I'm in my 50s I still like to do mini strip hops, but like to do the majority of my gambling downtown. Everything is so close and if I catch a cold shoe or a surly dealer another casino is two minutes away.:peace:

Wow this is amazing, I might keep this bookmarked when I am there next week and pop by one of the hotels to witness this extravaganza. I am particularly interested to see what things look like at Casino Royale at 10PM.

For those of us interested, how can we spot you guys (or will this be obvious?) and can we join in on a drink.

One drink at each place??? Come on that is an impressive list and would lead to a ridiculous bender with our group.

Hope to read a TR after you get back about it.

    Enjoy.
