I have read a couple people on the board say that on a Friday night nothing was going on at Hakkasan or that there was no line on a Friday.

What is your experience with Hakkasan? And has it turned into the new "hottest" club on the strip as it intended?

More so than other venues, Hakkasan relies on big name DJs to bring people in. So when the DJ for the night is less well-known, it can be pretty slow. The venue itself has generally not been well reviewed due to its somewhat confusing layout and lack of an outdoor area.

One of my buddies knows some of the servers there. The joined us for a few drinks last Thursday. They were all smoking hot so I don't know how the place isn't full of dudes every night just to check them out.

I'm curious, how does one become a "big name DJ"? Are they better at pressing buttons than regular DJs? Maybe they just do it with more style?

SO there is no/little interest in hakkasan when the big Djs are not there?

I am sure H has made a name for itself but is it in the top 2 nightlife position right now?

A legitimate question, which I would be curious to know as well.

I know I like DJs that plays the right music the whole night and just gives back to back hits and danceable tunes with the right mix. But these DJs are HUGE and get paid in the millions.

I go for the food, as they still have a killer kitchen. They will escort you up to the club levels if you ask nicely and you can avoid all of the crap that the line guys put people through.

My experience: Their food is superb and the dining room is impeccably designed. The quieter bar/lounge area is also chill, luxe and very well serviced by a great staff. The main room doesn't do it for me at all.

My friends that are way too into their music would say "by selling out".

I guess it all comes down to their ability to excite a crowd and keep the party going. I really don't know much about EDM, but I can tell the difference between a good DJ that makes you WANT to dance vs a poor one.

All of the clubs are full of dudes. All of the hot girls are escorted to and around the big table spenders, and the main floor is left with one group...the screaming, obnoxious, pushing, shoving, sweaty, and no regard for other human existence asians.

Now I love asians, but when I go to Marquee and want to hang on the main floor to enjoy the atmosphere...I am usually stiff arming groups of rapid asian girls away from my space (and when I mean personal space at a club, i mean pretty much them using people's shoulders as a perch for their camera phones, and their boyfriends practically grinding their sweaty body all over you). It is a different breed at the clubs, it is strange.

This is why I love EDC events - I keep telling myself this :) I do one night at the clubs now and the rest of the nights my group just has more fun bar hopping.

Keep in mind, no line doesn't mean it's dead inside. Even though there was no line when we went, it was busy inside.

I have been there 3 times. Two times during my trip on labor day weekend. One night Calvin Harris was there. $150. It didnt even take 30-40mins to go through GA. Unbelievable. Once you got inside it was a different story. Couldnt even move. Almost left.

Place is huge, 3 floors with 3 djs. I wouldnt judge so much about the line.

It is easier these days to mix due to all the electronics, but speaking as someone who knows a lot of DJ's and has had a go at it I can safely say it ain't that easy.

The big names are all producing/creating tracks along with dj'ing. Kaskade, Nicky Romero, Tiesto, Guetta, Harris and the list goes on. Because their songs crossover to mainstream they are able to get the big dollars as the article said a few months ago in Forbes if I remember correctly.

You have to remember, Vegas is a tourist attraction which turns over people every so many days so for the clubs it's a new group every weekend which equals crazy pricing and people willing to spend the money to be part of the scene.

Im not sure if you were referring to this past weekend. But I was there this past Thursday the 7th. Crowd was still decent. Was actually pretty packed, felt like a weekend night.

I only went because its really the only thing happening on a Thursday night, so we ended up getting a table that night. I'm not a big fan of Hakkassan at all. Ive been there as Studio 54 and it sucked then, its still same to me now.

The reason I dont like it much is that theres so much walk space that everyone gets spread out. Alot of the tables are so far back that you can barely see the stage/dancefloor. There's pillars and walls blocking the view in some tables.

Unless you get a dancefloor table or the next tier behind it, thats the only way I personally would have fun at Hakkasan.

The layout at other places feels better to me. DJ wise, theres a great choice of comin through that place so its always good in that sense.

I did have fun this past trip at HK just because I met some cool Italian tourists that ended up hanging out with us. LOL. We did an outside table at Marquee that Friday and a Tier 2 table at Light on Saturday. Best layout for me with any table that you get is Light. Marquee and XS still is good if you get something inside.

this is because they are not really "DJs" per say. They all produce their own music, write their own lyrics for someone to sing to their produced music. It is much more common to call them a DJ to be easy, as they do mix in others music along with theirs. To each artist, you will hear many of their songs so that would get more people on a certain night
