How far down (or up) will you go before you say "No, I will not stay there, even comp?"

This is not a "let's talk crap about a hotel/casino" and likely is going to be based on your perceptions, not necessarily any real experiences.

For me, I know I am not going to stay at El Cortez or any of the motels on LVB heading to downtown, even though I have never stepped foot in any of them.

Maybe some of you don't like the feel of a Wynn/Encore or Bellagio

    So, what's your limit?

Alone, I'm not a snob. When my wife is along, then there is no way we are staying at GG, even with a comp. The rooms are just too small in the original hotel.

Never stayed at ElCo, so I can't comment. We have stayed at MSS, Cal, Four Queens and Plaza all on comps.

When we first started going to Vegas we stayed at Riviera, Vegas Club, Boulder Station-places like that. We would give the better places some play and it was fun casino hopping. When we started getting offers for the "good" hotels, we never went back to the dregs. I have to say, I miss the casino hopping but I like the perks that come with limiting our play to the nicer props where we get comps. So......are we casino snobs? I guess we are to a certain extent. They couldn't pay me to stay at, for example, the Quad.

If I,m flying solo, then it does not bother me, I,ll move around every 2-3 days to get free rooms, obviously I,ll take the better rooms 1st. If I have my better half with me, then she likes the higher end places, although she also loves Sams town, no, I dont get it either:confused2:

I'm sure I'm a snob. I don't get, though I do respect, people who say all I need is a "bed, shower and shitter" and "how much time do you spend in the room anyways?" I like a nice view, I want some space and I don't wanna live off the bed... I enjoy a separate sitting-area. I must have a large, stand alone shower... shower/tub combos with the shower curtain's are for the Travelodge down the street. I expect a clean and well-refreshed room. I'm not a "top of the line penthouse" kinda guy, but for sure a top "20 percenter type".

My favorite is when people start topics on this or other Vegas forums that are along of the lines of....."Should I stay in this penthouse/skysuite or this penthouse/skysuite?" I just wanna smack the shit out of people for their overly pretentious post. Look at pics online, draw a conclusion, we know you have money, F off.

Yes I am....didn't used to be but now I am. I'm very fortunate that I have been able to increase my gambling budget significantly over the past 3 to 4 years...therefore my types of comps have also increased significantly. So yes I have grown accustomed to the finer things in life. Therefore I do like a very refined room...minimum is Loft Suite, Hotel32, mostly though enjoy the Penthouse Suite in Hotel32. I like to have a separate living room/dining area and a full size glass enclosed shower with a separate jetted tub. Again I'm not bragging I'm blessed to be able to enjoy these things. I to do not hold anything against those who just say they need a bed and shower. Although you will find me in these nice accommodations, I do still like to spend some of my money downtown, especially at the "D" plopping actual quarters in those machines on the second floor....

    I am a total snob.

I'll never stay downtown, even if it's free. (I'm not sure if this has to do with the quality of the hotels as much as me just not liking the vibe of downtown. Maybe in 40 years when my hair turns blue).

I'll never stay at a CET hotel (even Paris and PH are below my standards for rooms). I'd consider Caesars, but it'd have to be in one of the nicer towers. But I could never get that comped.

NYNY/Monte are about as low as I'll go down the MLife chain. I do like NYNY more than some other people seem to though.

Between downtown and the strip, there is nothing too high or too low for me. I do prefer strip properties however. Now off-strip can get too sketchy for me especially isolated places but there are great properties off-strip.

When I am at Quad, Four Queens, Venetian or Wynn, I am happy! But I do find myself throwing on my blazer, cocktail dresses and heels more at the latter properties...hmm...

Sam's town is so cute, like an enchanting park/cabin feel.

WHile I understand your viewpoint, I think they should also have the luxury of asking for help choosing rooms! Different rooms offer different things.

My friend stayed at PH once. I saw his room. NYNY's lowest standard room is better.

In room quality, I think NYNY is above Paris and PH. CET room quality generally, particularly their standard rooms, does not match MGM's.

One of the nice features of this board is that you can hover over a thread without opening it and see a preview of the first post. That feature has saved me lots of time that would have been wasted reading threads I don't care about.

My wife has higher standards for accommodations than I do. Fortunately, there are places she will go that my modest play gets us into cheap or free.

I am a bit - really prefer the high end strip casinos.

As for the reply: "...'Should I stay in this penthouse/skysuite or this penthouse/skysuite?' I just wanna smack the shit out of people for their overly pretentious post. Look at pics online, draw a conclusion, we know you have money, F off."

Wow, nice attitude!?!? Why are you here? One of the many, many reasons people read this board is to live vicariously through the experiences of others. Super high end trips reports by people like Natedog and Mike182 are favorites on this board.

Ask, share, answer, laugh, sympathize, even share constructive criticism... but simply throwing stones without adding any value is not helpful to the quality of the board.

But is it OK then for there to be a million threads about, "Should I pay $58.99 for 5 nights at dump X, $42.99 for 5 nights at dump Y, or take a full comp at dump Q?" You could just tell them to look at pics online as well, but it would be highly insulting to tell them "we know you have no money F off." There is no reason to insult the penthouse suite crowd either.

This board covers the entire spectrum, which is one of its attractive features. None of us has to read or respond to threads we aren't interested in.

I am a major hotel snob, brought on by years of business travel NOT to LV. I'm only really interested in the highest tier hotels, but I don't think I will add any more fuel to what I imagine may turn into a very explosive thread.

I'm not a snob at all. Although, even on a comp, I'll never stay at The Quad (Imperial Palace) ever again. The elevator situation was horrible & I didn't feel comfortable in the room.

I really like staying at Silverton, Orleans, Gold Coast...

I'm pretty sure we are not snobs. We can get comped at Caesars, Paris and Planet Hollywood, all of which would generally be considered "nicer" than Flamingo, but we choose, consistently, to stay at Flamingo because we feel more like a medium fish in a smaller pond there, instead of a guppy in the ocean.

Now, at the other end of the spectrum, we could also be comped at Quad, Harrah's and Bally's, but we choose not to stay there. Maybe that does make us a little snobby?

When we first started gambling enough to be "on the radar" for CET and figured out the whole system, we always stayed at IP, because that is what we could get comped and it freed up more money for gambling, which, in tern, got us comps at "nicer" places, so we moved up the food chain a bit, but, like I said, for now, we're comfortable at Flamingo even though we could technically get comped more.

Sorry that was a little long.
