So, we are going to Vegas in May for my girlfriends 21st (she has never been before). I've been multiple times, and have stayed in a corner suite at Aria/1BR Penthouse at Bellagio in the past. I am 22, and she will be 21.

I gave her a choice of hotels, and she really likes the Cosmopolitan. While I have never stayed there, anytime I've been in it I've really enjoyed the atmosphere and have considered staying there for future trips.

However, I've been reading up on it on tripadvisor and I've seen some less than desirable reviews. While I know this is inevitable with a hotel as big as this, it just seems to be rated significantly lower than Aria and other comparable hotels.

    I guess I have a few questions:
    1. How is the pool? While I know its a "younger" hotel, is there any pool that is moreso relaxing than partying all the time?
    2. Is the spa any good? If not, would you recommened just going to Aria/elsewhere for the spa?
    3. Experiences you have had with Cosmo (good/bad)?
    4. Looking at booking a terrace 1bdr (fountain view of course), is it a nice room?

I am a Cosmo fan, but for everall experience, Bellagio may be the better choice of the 3...especially when you factor in the pools.

I have my issues with Cosmo, but it's more about personalities and gaming than the house side, and I will be one of the first people to stand up, step forward and say that the hotel side of Cosmo is awesome. I have said that you can describe the Cosmo in one word, and that's "sexy." It's a sexy hotel, from door to room to hotel lobby, it's a sexy place...no ifs ands or buts.

At that age, there is no other place I would want to stay. It's a hip, chic, sexy place with a real party atmosphere

Cosmo has the best rooms if you are going for the balcony suites and above. If she has never been, that one will wow you both. If you want a better casino, just hop over to another, if you want pool options with a younger crowd, Cosmo is the best right now. if you want the most popular night club, its in the Cosmo as well. have fun!

I like all of the hotels you mentioned and have stayed at each one multiple times (cosmo most recently).

As for the pools, it is definitely a party vibe at the main boulevard pool. The other ones might be a bit more relaxing. if you want a pool that has a party vibe but also some relaxing areas, you can't go wrong with Mandalay Bay.

The spa at Cosmo is small, but very good for its size. It doesn't compare to Aria, however, and is a notch below Bellagio as well.

The 1BR fountain view at Cosmo is a really nice standard room. I think it may actually be better than the corner suite at Aria (which felt a bit cramped to me). But its not nearly as good as the bellgaio penthouse suite.

Really, between those three, you can't go wrong

    1. Cosmo have 3 different pool ares. The Main Pool area Is the blvd pool with great scenary and people watching overlooking the strip. Then there is bamboo pool that is more quiet and good for relaxation and not as busy. They also have a dayclub in Marquee pool that is open for non hotel guests as well.

    2. Never got to try it but its very close to Mandarin Oriental that has one of the best spas on the strip.

    3. I have pretty much only have good experiences when staying there and i just love the vibe in the casino, bars and restaurants. I much prefer Cosmo over both Aria and Bellagio.

    4. Its a good room but nothing special to the other standard rooms at Cosmo, i acctualy prefer the terrace studio over it because of the layout. The terrace suite would however be a real upgrade and they all have fountain views.

Reality is on the first trip for a 21 year old, you could just about sleep on street and it would be great.

Depending on budget, Cosmo will be great. You mentioned Aria, so maybe you have some Mlife comps? Fountain view at Bellagio is awesome as well.

Well of course, I know what its like on a first Vegas trip. No comps for Mlife tho.

All of these posts really make me think Cosmo is right for us on this trip. Thank you everyone!

Haven't really had the check out the dining options inside of Cosmo, any particular favorites out there?

If room cost vs comps at Aria aren't an issue, go for Cosmo. It's her birthday.

Costs aren't a super big issue here, I just wanted to make sure that Cosmo lives up to what I expect it to be. The gaming/lobby areas have really impressed me when I've been there so I'm hoping that transfers over to the hotel.

If you dont care about the cost and you like the gaming/lobby areas of Cosmo, than go ahead and book it without doubt. The rooms are better than Aria in my opinion, the views better and if you are in the East tower at Cosmo the hallways are a small square, all very quick walks to the room and you are around the corner from the strip when getting off the elevator.

Yes, the Cosmo rooms are very nice, if you are 21, like the vibe of the casino, and can afford to stay there I don't think you have a better option.

    Stay at Cosmo

As others have said, if I were 21, it would be COSMO! The atmosphere and vibe are right for that set.

The pools are very small and definitely a scene. This is probably why I will not stay there in the summers.

The spa is EXCELLENT, but small compared to QUA at Caesars for example. But it is a great spa experience.

I like the restaurant choices at Cosmo as well. The Henry is a great upscale coffee shop, plus you have fine dining at Milos and so on. Very nice.

Love the rooms. They are very different from your Bellagio rooms and not nearly as dated. Fun and the outside balconies make it.

    Enjoy your trip.

Most have it covered but top 5 here

Most everyone here have covered the pools at Cosmopolitan.

    Trick, tips, treats...

    1. Cosmo is Marriott ran hotel, means NON Smoking in rooms (but you can smoke on balcony)
    2. Lake view from Cosmo: there is no better way for a romantic time with your loved one...especially in May at 1am in the morning...Awesome, baby !!!!
    3. Vibe is more on the younger party crowd...which fits you guys perfectly
    4. TWO Towers, Eat and West. Both have benefits....

EAST: Closer to the strip, and Blvd. Pool and easy access to most all restaurants, also better fountain views
WEST: closer to Buffet, lobby area and spa (exercise room)

    5. Restaurants: all are good, none are excellent. Comme Ca is reasonable (for Vegas) and very nice strip side dining. SKA has a young Vibe...but better steak options in Vegas. One night you must hit the Pizza place (get the full "pie" as you can take to room for snack later)...ALL rooms have microwave.

    6. SPA: for pure luxury I would go to Bellagio.

    TIP:
how long are you going?, many you can split up and do 1 night at Bellagio (make this spa day) and rest at Cosmopolitan.

    Have fun

PM me if you have any more questions, I have stayed at Cosmo over 10 times

The Cosmo is a pretty nice place overall, new furnishings, clean but the hotel check-in area smells really bad for some reason. The scent is ever-present so it must be intentional.. To me it is reminiscent of sewage and a few people agreed.

The staff is ok, service is polite but doesn't really go the extra mile ever. Drink service is average (better than some, worse than others but in general it's just pretty average).

So, I don't think you can really go wrong staying at the Comso if it's in your budget. At the same time I don't think you'll ever be in for some amazing over-the-top experience either. It'll just be.. good :)
