Unfortunately I don't have access to a sports book when I'm outside of Vegas. I was hoping you could share your experiences with using online sports books and which one(s) you'd recommend? Looking mostly to bet on NFL games.

Find a local bookie that conducts business via a "Pay Per Head" website. Then you can make wagers online 24/7, and settle locally in cash. Shouldn't be too difficult to find one if you play golf or hang around a sports bar.

Just be sure your local bookie has been in business for a few years. It's easy to start up a bookmaking business these days, and many start-up books are under-capitalized and totally unprepared for the variance they will encounter.

Today's offshore sites are plagued with high fees and slow payouts. And the sites that have good reputations today, will likely suck 1-2 years from now.

I don't argue with anything you said, but I've been using the same off shore site now for about 14 years without any problems. Payments wired right to my bank account. Now I will admit I make more payments in using my charge card, then I have collected, but the times I have collected, it has been painless and quick.

I've been offshore since it's infancy. I've never been stiffed and only slow paid once.
Stay away from the "s**T " books.
Stick with the top of the line books.
There are a few open to US players.

    Hardly.

Other books have lines up days before they do.
    They deal dual lines.
They will cut your limits in a heartbeat.
They would be the one book from the list of majors that might disappear and there goes your $$$
What they are ok for is if you have multiple outs and you are looking to play a dog or an under.

They rank below any good book that accepts US players and above scam books.

I guess this will stay up till it gets taken down.

Best books available to US players

5 Dimes-- customer service....ehhh not the greatest, great selection of wagers,
you can speak to the owner if you want, one of the safest books to have your money at

Bookmaker/BetDSI---great selection of wagers, baseball juice higher than at other books, probably the safest of the US available books to have your money at

Heritage--great customer service, low juice, mainly a recreational book, not sure if they accepting new players at this time, nice promotions and contests, one of the safest to have money at

Joe can you PM me the name as well. I've been looking for a better one.

I use 5Dimes and Bookmaker currently. 5D has better regular lines and open parlays but BMaker has better live lines. I've cashed out at 5D but they make you jump through a lot of hoops and I'm no longer comfortable giving them that much info.

I've had an account with CaribSports for many years (10 +).Great cutomer service and with Heritage as well. But have not been playing at all as it now requires a person-to-person $ transaction via WU or MG done at the local supermarket..Just a PIA nowadays..

    Joe please PM me also..Thanks!

That's funny. I know the guy that started CaribSports. He was my local bookie in the 1980's. He quit booking locally and setup offshore back in the early/mid 90's? (he was one of the first offshore books).

CaribSports was fantastic. I bet there for many years. When Jon sold the business, I left.

Glad you have a site that works for you. My results have been spotty at best, since the government crackdown.

Your comment about frequency of payments vs collecting reminded me of a funny story-

A friend of mine was raving about his offshore sportsbook. He would say many positive things, and used them for OVER 10 YEARS.

I asked him "What about when you want paid? Any problems?"

He said "I never won any money. But my deposits always go thru with no problems!""
