Just curious why Mlife has cut down comps, and they have MyVegas games? So the Low-Mid rollers won't forget about them? I have not reduced my play at MGM, and have 2 free nights comped in December, but the Winter offers I am comped 1 night. Maybe they want people to visit their propertys, and play some. Yes we have talked about this in past posts, but it seems like the noose is getting tighter. What are your thoughts.

I don't think the two are really related... the person that chooses to spend hundreds of hours on Facebook to get a free $20 buffet, versus people that are actually making them money. The MyVegas rewards suck now too.. Maybe they don't care about us low-rollers that much, they have enough people spending a lot of their money there?

Honestly it's random, it's different for everyone, your spending patterns, how often you go..

I've decided lately, I'm just gonna do what I want... if you really think about it, you spend hundreds or thousands of dollars for a $59 room. I'd rather just pay for the room where I wanna stay.

 

Don't kid yourself. MyVegas isn't a charity. They're making money off it. I can't find MGM's broken out, but CET brought in revenue of $193 million from their social gaming platform last year. And this is nothing compared to what all these guys hope to bring in with these platforms if/when online gambling is legalized.

 

Where do they make money from their "Social Gaming Platforms"?

 

Comps are down all across the board, not just MLife or CET, but almost everybody.
Comps are given to entice you back into 'said' property to spend your dollars there, but, Vegas is showing an increase in patrons (whether they gamble or not) to their casino's recently, so the need for comps to get you there are not such a priority.

Visitors are spending more money on shows and dining than ever before. Sure, they are spending less on gambling, but there are greater numbers now visiting the mecca, which in return requires less comps to get people to come by.

Hey, at least us low rollers still get some decent comps!

 

Mostly chip purchases and marketing agreements. For example in MyVegas you can do stuff like sign up for a service like Netflix or whatever, watch an ad, join some mailing list, etc and be awarded chips paid for by those companies.

CET's numbers may be higher than MGMs though since CET wholly owns the subsidiaries that operate those games. I believe MGM is partnered with a third party.

 

myVegas may be earning off some...but not all. I assumed myVegas was an incentive to drag CET loyalists over to MGM. I DID learn that MGM hotels kick the crap out of CET hotels. I totally understand why you need to have a much higher ADT to get those hotels comped.

 

I'm also a low/mid roller.

In my experience, MGM's room offers are decided by someone throwing darts at a dartboard. I didn't get a comp room offer for two years, then I get back to back offers at Bellagio, 3 nights + usable on weekends. I haven't figured out their formula (if anyone does my PM inbox is open).

I think myvegas is genius from a casino hotel standpoint. Most of the room offers are sun-thursday, the majority of the buffet offers are sun-thursday too. Most of the customers are trained on slots - the casino's highest margin game.

 

There's at least 500,000 monthly users according to the app page. Out of those lets say 5% buy chips at $5 a month. Then you have all the ad revenue. Pretty easy to see how the game could be profitable.

They're not handing out crazy comps anyway and they know there's a chance you'll leave your kids tuition money at the slots or tables once they give you your comped room.

 

We haven't found our M life offers dropping at all and our gaming budget has been the same for that past 3 years. We have combined our play onto one card and the offers have gone up slightly since, before we each got similar offers.

We both enjoy playing MyVegas and use it to buffer trips if need be but, we will never spend money for chips. We collect for a week or two and keep our bets for maximum LP earnings. DH has earned over 500k and I am over 1 million lifetime on the game. We are on our third trip this year with My Vegas rewards; we just find we redeem ones we look forward to now rather than wasting time running from casino to casino for redemption's.

Isn't Caesar's Bingo Online, CET's first step into online gambling?? And forgive me for asking as I'm not sure if it would qualify as a social gaming aspect but could part of the $193 million in revenue come from this source?

 

YES (just edited) but as a licensing deal, the online gaming outside the US is run by third parties licensing the Caesars brand. They run a real money poker game inside of NV only. Caesars Interactive Entertainment (CIE) is their subsidiary that runs social gaming, here is its website: http://caesarsinteractive.com/

CIE is the largest social casino gaming company in the world now in terms of revenue. MGM started late and obviously wants to get into this space. Here are just the 2013 Q2 revenues of the largest social casino gaming companies. And of course their real objective is to have the platform and market share in place if/when online gambling becomes legal here:
