    Hello All,

Will I have a problem cashing traveler's checks at the casino cage with my photo ID?

I know they are kind of a thing of the past, but I hate the fee's that go along with the ATM machines and sadly there is not a Wells Fargo bank, that I know of, along the strip.

    Thanks,
    K-9treatbaker

You shouldn't have any problems at all.
I have used them for a while and was never even asked for a photo ID. At a few places they took a fingerprint, but usually no muss, no fuss.

A couple of weeks ago I cashed some at The Orleans and Flamingo. I showed them my driver's license, signed the checks, and received the cash in record time with no ATM or other fee. :peace:

The only problem I've had with Traveler's Checks lately is finding anyone to issue them around here. My banks both switched to the preloaded VISA card instead of checks. :grrr:

Me too. I can't get them anymore either. I really miss that. I'm not going to use a preloaded Visa that I have to pay a service fee to use. I used to get the checks for free.

To me, making a trip to the bank to get them can be a pain.

We just stick a few thousand in hundreds in our bags and away we go. If I need another $1,000.... the $5 ATM fee is worth it to avoid a trip to the bank.

    Travelers Checks

Thanks to everyone who responded to my traveler check question.

Hopefully, Wells Fargo still has them.

Like another poster that replied here, I will not use a pre paid visa card. I know, I'm ancient.:nworthy:

    Kindly,

A cashier at the Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland told me last week when I cashed travelers checks that the Ohio Gaming Commission requires a lot of information be recorded on each cashed check. The cashier needs to write the presenter's driver's license number, and at least 5 other informational items on the face of each check being cashed. In my case, I was cashing 6 $50 checks and it took the cashier a good ten minutes to complete the transaction. he couldn't even take the information down once for all the checks.

The OGC needs to lighten up to streamline this type of transaction.

As others have said, travelers checks are painless in LV; they are usually as easy as turning in a TITO at the cage.

If you're a member, AAA still offers them for free.

There are Wells Fargo ATM's everywhere in Vegas, no need for obsolete travelers checks.

I always use them from the UK. It means I can budget daily better and I don't get CC and debit card fees for all my transactions. A preloaded visa card is offered, but according to the places I have asked at the only place they can't be used is at a casino. Might have to look into that further!

It is not the Ohio gaming commission regulations, it's their policy. Take that from a casino worker in Ohio who before dealing delt with the commission daily

According to the Internet, there is a Wells Fargo ATM in Harrah's.

We travel almost monthly. Sometimes more. Probably 50 nights a year in hotel rooms, mostly casinos. Around the world. Never, ever lost carryon bag. Or the money in my pocket. Neither wife or I have been robbed, pick pocketed, etc.

Actually, I have a few thousand extra that is somewhat hidden in checked bags. No problems there.

Same for me. Some people are worriers though.

This strikes me as a bit too much of a gamble. Do you do it because you think it will be safe or you like the thrill of seeing if it's still there when you arrive at your destination?

I have used travelers checks many times in the past and never had a problem cashing them at any casino.
