    Looking for a good snack downtown, about midnight. Any 1.99 or cheaper ideas?

    Mermaids closes around midnight and has dollar hot dogs, fried oreos and fried twinkies. mcds of course has apple pies, cheeseburgers, sundaes, fries, etc for a buck. i think one dupars pancake is 3 bucks so that is out of range. a bagel with cream cheese is easy to get at magnolias and should be about 2 bucks. dennys has pancake puppies for 1.99. I like the red velvet or strawberry ones. i think there is a dunkin donuts at fremont and most donuts are about a buck.

    Mermaids serves Nathans Hot Dogs for $1.25 (not .99 anymore)
    Mermaids serves very good, fresh, hot from the grease and it's a pretty large order of french fries for $1.25 (not .99 anymore)
    Both quite good and very filling.
