I am struggling with my decision of when to take my next trip. My first option was going to be New Years, but unfortunately I have to work the 2nd so that's out. But I got vacation approve for Jan 3 and Jan 6. So I was considering late Jan 2 return To ATL Jan 6. I can get Thurs comped at Aria through MyVegas and can afford the three additional nights. I would enjoy betting on CFB big bowls and NFL playoffs first round. However, the weather would apparently suck and odds are about 90% it would be a solo trip. I would also have slightly less bankroll than I prefer on a trip. The second option is mid-late April. I could probably stay an extra day or two longer if I waited til April. The MyVegas dates do not go this far out yet so I am not certain about room affordability. I'd really like to stay at Aria this trip. Weather would be slightly better. Early season MLB to bet on and NBA playoffs unless I'm looking at it wrong? Chances are slightly better regarding talking someone into going by then and I'd have a slightly larger bankroll thanks to side work during tax season. Really my preference to NFL betting is the only thing attracting me to the January trip! What should I do? I play mostly poker, craps, and blackjack otherwise. I'd also like to go to Hakkasan/Light this time out. I'm so torn on this!
January is the slowest time of the year for Vegas. Not to say it isn't busy, but just a bit not so busy. Early April has perfect weather, so that would be my choice. But if it were up to me.............I would choose both! :evillaugh
Yeah. I'm slowly talking myself into April. I'd obviously prefer both dates as well, but I don't think that's possible. Especially if I want to make another September trip this year. I really wish they'd release some 2014 my Vegas comp dates beyond March...
If the pool is important to you at all, then April definitely. Weather is so much better that time of year. But if you are strictly a gambler, crowds will be a little less in January and you should be better room rates. Plus you'll have the NFL playoffs to bet on.
Just the difference in weather alone would make me say April over early Jan, or any time in Jan. for that matter.
Sounds like the only two variables are the sports seasons and the weather. Weather is obviously better in April, but I have never found Vegas in January to be bad. I always bring a jacket to wear and I'm fine. I like betting pro football, so I would lean toward January. You would be there during the NFL playoffs and that adds a lot of energy. I don't bet on baseball in April, only because I don't usually have a strong sense of the teams that early in the season. NBA playoffs are almost as much fun as NFL playoffs, but be aware that the NBA post season usually does not start until the last week of April.
Wild-card weekend for the NFL would seal the deal for me..Plus the fact it won't be as crowded post NYE.. If you are a futures bettor, you can do both NFL and NBA..Weather? Does it really matter? Best wishes whatever you choose!
i want the pool so we are going april 13-18 in vegas, trip is april 10-18. Hoping to get some decent weather. You really have to look at all the pros/cons and what matters to you. I wish myvegas would release april too, i was told to check early october and of course no such luck. i need to find the # to call and see if they know when.
I have always gone in April and October but booked January for a change Hope it works out. Weather doesn't matter either way just activities available
plan to win big in Jan, return in april also! I like going to vegas during the slower seasons, makes it easier to get around. Less lines, etc. fk
Have been in January and have no complaints. Just bring a light jacket and some jeans to wear if you're walking outside. It really isn't that cold. I definitely enjoyed all of the sporting events at that time. It might be right around the CFB national championship as well, but that's usually on a Monday so you may miss that. That said, I'm sure the weather in April is beautiful. Baseball will be just starting and the NHL season will be winding down if you have any interest in those two sports.
Yeah, the BCS title game is Monday, but I cannot extend my time off work another day or I would. Plan is if everything goes ok to lay some $$ on it at check out and hopefully have a nice start on the next trips bankroll assuming one year to cash ticket.
We went in Jan. this year and loved it! We live in the Midwest, so the weather was great compared to home. Also loved the fact that there were no crowds anywhere. It may have helped that it was my only winning trip ever!! It made me wonder if the machines are better during slow times. We also enjoy betting the football games, so Jan. is good. Hope to be able to go back this Jan.
jamesxnj is soooo right! In fact, my wife and I have 01/02-07 booked for our annual trip. Any of the NFL playoff weekends are terrific times to be in Las Vegas. Prices are low. Crowds are reasonable. It's easy to get around almost anywhere. The games are very competitive and fans are partisan. AND the four games are each on every T.V. in every casino, sports book, and bar. In fact, I believe that the NFL playoffs in Las Vegas are the best entertainment "bang for the buck" in America. January. Definitely.
