    Good timing for my October trip. I usually miss these sort of things by a day or two. Looking forward to seeing the new casino.
    Good luck.:beer::beer:

    I was at the Wynn opening, Encore opening, Aria opening and the Cosmo opening... and am excited to be at the Downtown Grand's opening too. I love the excitement of a new joint and even though this is a "rehab", so to speak, It's GREAT news for downtown. The construction jobs and the employees it'll take to run the place are badly needed. Just hope there's enough business for everyone and they take care of the customers.

    Definitely worth a visit on our next visit. Staying DT for a couple nights for the first time next month before moving to the strip for the rest of or stay. It will be interesting to checkout the total vibe of a DT stay

    I really considered getting a room there on October 27th, the first night they are open. But I can imagine the lines will be long and slow. But I am definitely going to go over and check it out then!

    For any members stopping by the Downtown Grand please post your observations, opinions, and reviews of the place.

    I'm interested in what kinds of slot and vp machines are available and how are the paytables for vp.

    Also the table games, the minimums, and odds, especially the craps tables.

    If you eat at any of the restaraunts a review would be appreciated also.

    One of the restaurants at the Downtown Grand will be the Stewart and Ogden Diner Bistro. They haven't released their menu yet but it will likely have steak and prime rib.

    The restaurant is named after rancher Archibald Stewart and fur trader Peter Skene Ogden (of Stewart and Ogden Streets where the Grand is situated). Stewart and Ogden actually started working on the menu 150 years ago!

    I'm a bit of a history buff when it comes to Peter Skene Ogden so I found this 4 minute video kind of fascinating. It won't interest everyone I'm sure but it's interesting to hear how they came to name the restaurant and where they found the buried menu!

    From the blog: http://stewartandogden.com/blog

    In early 2012 we started to hear rumors that local Las Vegas developers had gotten hip to the amazing story of Stewart and Ogden and were actually developing their restaurant. We figured this was just a rumor and didn’t think anything would come of it. Needless to say when we found out earlier this year that the rumors were true we almost lost our minds. Our organization reached out to the developers of the Downtown Grand (yes… the new Las Vegas casino/hotel actually sits between Stewart and Ogden streets!!) and they allowed us to film them! We couldn’t believe it. We were actually a little nervous reaching out to the casino owners (I mean, have you seen the movie Casino?!). But these guys were actually pretty cool. And clearly the one in the bow tie is a big fan of our heroes (and apparently LOVES steak too!). More to come as we have it!

    Just wondering, with it being a "soft opening" will the casino be up and running and restaurants open on the 27th?

    I can't wait to check this out in Nov. I really hope they try to set themselves apart form the Fremont casinos. I think DT could use a little more diversity in this area.
