The only show I remember in Las Vegas where they let you take photos, was Gallagher, like of him smashing the watermelon and such. I don't know if they still allow it.

You can take pictures of the show in "Le Reve - The Dream" in Wynn/Encore. Pretty nice photo opportunities and the show is very nice, too.

When we watched Elton John at Caesers Palce everyone had their camera's taken off them and had to claim them back after the show, when I watched Rod Stewart last year I was told that taking pictures was ok.

The last time I "cheated" was with a Scorpions concert about 10 years ago at Planet Ho.

This was a "hail mary" shot with the camera (older Olympus P&S that I carry in my purse) held over my head and aimed approximately at the stage, no flash. There were others doing it too, some with flash, even though they announced that you were not supposed to.

It was 2008 when we seen him so perhaps he has changed his policy on pictures being taken at his shows, but everyone with a camera had to leave it at the entrance then queue up to get it back after the show.

We saw Elton on 10/9. Security asked to see inside my small purse and I obliged. I had purposely left my Canon Powershot camera at MGM on purpose to avoid the hassle of possibly having to reclaim same. We both had smartphones as did most of the audience. Hubby made small talk with security and got him to say their main concern is safety, i.e. weapons.

I recall being told by security and/or ushers that "no recording equipment" is to be used. I would normally classify a camera, or a smartphone/camera as recording equipment, but it seemed that half of the people there were taking photos throughout the show. I finally took a few photos myself for FOMO!

So, could it be they are mainly against flash-type cameras or film/video-recording equipment?

the rules at any concert are no photos/videos. but everybody has a camera/video recorder in their pocket these days with their smartphone, so they don't really enforce it. everybody takes pictures. but it's so dark in there with those cameras you can hardly see anything. so it's of no threat to them. they would only say anything if you tried to bring in a professional camera of some sort that you could use to get pro photos and sell them.

I work for an arena( not in vegas of course)

We allow anytype of phone and anytype of non professional camera

( what we consider pro is anything with removable lens)

I guess I could have taken my camera without incident for Elton John, after all.
We saw Zumanity on 10/8, and "no photos" was the rule. I don't recall seeing anyone even try, but we were in section 102, row c and I didn't take my eyes off the stage.
