another subjective thread about the airlines... :rolleyes2:

sure enough, if you want to go from DET to LAS on Nov 24-28 (Sun-Thurs) you can get the $30/one way fares

...and if you want to go Nov 28-Dec 3 you approach the $300 mark mentioned above

I paid $350 for my Delta roundtrip to Vegas from Detroit for Nov 30 - Dec 3.

I don't regret it one bit.

Paying a couple hundred extra is worth not having to risk flying Spirit.

$28.89?? How the f@&k do they do that? That's like half of what it costs me to just get to the airport which is barely 15 miles away.

Risk of flying on Spirit?? what risk? Is the plane going to crash because its Spirit airlines?? They are still required to meet all FAA rules and regulations and maintain the same maintenance schedules as all other airlines...

You may risk a delay...but there is no risk of bodily injury...let's be real here

I personally have flown spirit twice. Both times I had major delays. One time missing my connection so far out I had to stay the night at a hotel in the connecting city and fly back the next morning. And got no voucher, hotel reimbursement etc. Just a your SOL. We were coming back from the Dominican and had a layover of 3 hours in florida. The flight was delayed an hour then we got on the plane and it was delayed another hour and half sitting on the tarmac. They said they lost the flight plan. They rushed us through when we got off the plane and made it to our gate with 5 minutes to spare, but they already closed the doors and wouldn't let us on. There was no more flights to our city after that, and they wouldnt pay for a different airline. After a lot of complaining and talking to a manager at the airport, they gave us nothing and said it was not their fault we missed our connection. We were one of many that missed their connection. I think the thing that actually made me the most upset is we actually got to the gate on time,

Only other time using spirit both flight were delayed going there and back but there only a half hour and back only an hour. Decided after that I couldn't fly with them again at any price.

Add in all the other fees and its not $29 one way. I personally would not fly with them.

This is from memory, but isn't it something like:
    $50 per bag...even a carry-on.
    $20 for a guaranteed non-middle seat.
    $3 for water.
$30 (in this case) for the airfare.

    That's $103 each way.

My recent SW flight to/from Dallas was $122 each way, total... and I'd bet it was far more pleasant than it would've been on Spirit.

I wasn't referring to bodily injury at all.

The "risk" is that you'll have a terrible travel experience, which Spirit apparently specializes in.

When I get to the airport, I don't want delays, poor customer service, unexpected charges, etc. Anything that cuts into my Vegas time/money is just gonna PISS ME OFF.

I flew RT from MSP to LAS last April for $59.80 total cost. I took a backpack for luggage that fit under the seat... No hassle from the Spirit people & no cost. Was given a window seat at the checkin counter at no cost I have flown them 3 times this year with only one 2 hour delay.... Spring blizzard...would have happened with any airline. Booked another flight to Vegas for Dec... Total cost will be $98 and if I was a member of their $9 club it would have been even less
