For all of us who just constantly get the $2 scratch cards...MSS had a $5,000 scratch card winner on Oct 2nd. That probably means there won't be another for a year +. :poke:

I've never done better than $15. Has there ever been anything published about how many they give out in a day or month and, for example, in a month's worth of scratch cards how many are for $5K? -- Lorna

Never seen anything published. We go 5-6 times per year and this is just anecdotal from my observations, but I would say one about every year to 18 months for the $5,000 cards.

Got one last week and told the floor attendant I'd split it with her if she gave me a big one. She laughed but hung around just in case. $2.

The new rule is they have to see you scratch it off and play the hand off. Apparently, some ruling from the gaming commission, or at least that's what I've been told by a couple of sources.

Of all the scratch cards that I got in April and September at MSS, they watched me sratch all of them, but NEVER asked me to play off the winning hand. One of the floor attendants told me that the reason for watching the scratch-offs was to prevent someone from counterfeiting one that was not witnessed.

I have never been to MSS but have it on my "to-do" list this trip ( 777 restaurant) anyway I was thinking I'd sign up for a players card. Can any of you tell me about this scratch card? And do they match teirs from other properties?

    Thanks:beer:

I am just happy to know that the $5000 cards really DO exist!!! LOL!

No they don't match tiers there. If you get a four of a kind, put on your service light and they will bring you over a scratch card.

Happygirl21: The scratch cards are given when you hit a four of a kind in video poker without wild cards. It's also given for straight flushes and royal flushes. When you hit such a hand, you put on your change light and a slot attendant comes over and gives you a card.

I'm not aware if Boyd properties will give you an upgraded players card based on a high level at another property.

Good luck on your upcoming trip. -- Lorna

This is a good deal for the players, but I feel like this is a lot of work for the employees. I wonder how many cards a single attendant gives out in a day.

I stayed 3 nights at MSS in late August and played VP for maybe 4-5 hours each day there.

I think I got something like 20 scratch cards total over the course of this time... 19 or so quads and one straight flush.

If I recall correctly, 18 of them were for $2, one was for $3 and one was for $5.

It's not a lot of money overall, true, but it probably pushes the value of 99.54% JoB (full pay) even closer to 100%, so I'm not complaining.

It sure would be nice to get a $5,000 one, though...

Even those $5 cards seem to have become even more rare.

Yeah, Joe, I read the guy's trip report. Would have been sweet to get a royal like I did in August then have the pot sweetened with 5k.

Here is part of his trip report describing the scratch card win:

I entered my last day only down $250.00 due to the sports bets mostly covering my video poker losses. I decided on my last day I would hit the 10/7 Double Bonus slant tops at Main Street Station. My mother won massively on those machines all week winning around two thousand dollars as she seemingly couldn't go more than five minutes without hitting a four of a kind. I mean she was winning BIG every day without hitting a Royal.

I joined her on our last day and I started hitting 4 OAKS too. I got dealt Aces once, then another time I dumped all five cards and four Aces came up again. After hitting twelve four of a kinds in less than two hours, I found myself caught all the way up and about $600.00 ahead for the trip. So finally after four years, with only one minor winning trip, I was going to go home with some substantial money. I continued to play and held a pair of eights and drew the other two. Those of you familiar with Main Street Station know you get a scratch card with each 4 OAK. All my cards up to that point were two and three dollars. I turned on my change light and the MSS employee came up and recorded my slot number and handed me the card. I scratced it off and he said, "How much this time?" I did a double take and said, "Five thousand." He said "Are you kidding me man?" I said "Nope, I have a five thousand dollar card."

I gave it back to him and he called someone on his two way. You'd have thought I won Powerball. The employees were more excited that I was. The slot shift manager, Mark Sullivan came out followed by Hal Welch the slot manager and a couple of other management employees. They must have taken thirty pictures of the card and the machine. Other total strangers wanted to shake my hand. Damn near the entire staff working the casino came over to see the card. They asked if I would sign a waiver allowing my picture to posted in the casino and I said sure. After filling out some paper work, that took forever, they led me back to the cage to sign more paperwork and collect a W2G and receive my 50, one hundred dollar bills. I had a car and drove straight to Bank of America to make my deposit and came back where I was now every employee's best friend. I did give the slot attendant who gave the the card, fifty bucks and a couple of cocktail waitresses twenty each.

Oh, I missed that report. One of the bartenders and me are friends on Facebook and I just happened to see the picture he reposted. Was the TR posted on VMB or somewhere else?

I've gotten them several times - always two dollars. Would love to get something bigger.
