Now, this is my kind of kid. I certainly hope he scored some comps!

NINE YEAR OLD BOY SNEAKS ONTO PLANE WITHOUT TICKET AT MINNEAPOLIS AIRPORT, FLIES TO LAS VEGAS

MINNEAPOLIS -- MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A 9-year-old Minneapolis boy was able to get through security and onto a plane at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport without a ticket, an airport spokesman said Sunday.

Security officials screened the boy at airport shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Metropolitan Airports Commission spokesman Patrick Hogan said. The boy then boarded a Delta flight that left for Las Vegas at 11:15 a.m.

The flight crew became suspicious and contacted Las Vegas police, who met the crew upon landing and transferred the boy to child protection services, Hogan said.

Video also shows the boy at the airport Wednesday, Hogan said. He grabbed a bag from the carousel and ordered lunch at a restaurant outside of the security checkpoints, Hogan said. He ate and then told the server he had to use the bathroom, left the bag and never returned to pay. The owner of the bag was identified, and the bag was returned to him, Hogan said.

Delta and the Transportation Security Agency said in separate statements that they were investigating.

The boy was expected to return to the Twin Cities, but Hogan didn't know Sunday if that had happened yet.

If he's already trying to get to Vegas at this age I'm sure he'll be in Vegas when he turns 21.

My thoughts exactly. He must have been raised by Gypsies.
He steals a bag off the carousel, takes it with him to eat, tells the server he has to use the toilet (she spy's his "bag" and thinks he wouldn't skip out on a check while going potty, his bag is still here), then he bails on paying the bill.
He may be only 9, but he's been trained quite well.............or watches a lot of movies. :evillaugh

Absolutely amazing that he got past the initial front line screeners, AND the gate agent, without having a boarding pass !! Imagine how much we could save, if only we knew his "secret" .... :rolleyes2:

It happened in Minneapolis...Interesting...I just wonder if the Vikings defense is moonlighting as TSA officers because anything can get through them...

seeing how smart the kid was to pull the move at the restaurant, I would bet that he just snuck past the security checkpoint and the gate agent. they're much more focused on what they are doing and are really not paying that much attention to what's going on around them. also being short, he can stay below eye level and blend in with a crowd and nobody would notice.

Our local new reported he took the light rail from Minneapolis to the airport. Security cameras showed him taking the light rail the two previous days before he actually boarded a flight. My question is how can a 9 year old be away from home for that amount of time.. and nobody notices. Wonder what the back story is and how his parents were not aware she was doing this. SCAREY.

Thats what I was wondering. Your 9 year old kid is gone for how long, and your not worried? Gotta wonder about the parents.

Nine years old and he ran away from home? WTF. Was there not an amber alert sent out for a nine year old who runs away? :grrr:
Maybe next time I will fly out of MSP and see if I can hitch a free ride to Vegas.

Update was just on Minneapolis news.

The kid stole an SUV in downtown Mpls on Tuesday and drove it down the freeway until he got pulled over. (Wow.)

His mother reportedly works for the airport.

There have been 4 child protective investigations into him and his family since December. He also has repeatedly also snuck into an indoor waterpark in the area. Investigators have labeled him a "challenging child".

    That's all they reported.

If he had been smart, he would have snuck on a Spirit flight and nobody would have noticed unless he ordered a Mountain Dew and was unable to come up with the cash to pay for it.

This morning on Good Morning America a man who claims to be the boy's father said "He went to take out the trash and never came back. We thought he went to a friend's house. We are not bad parents."

Oh, sure... When your 9 y/o disappears you just assume he went to a friend's house - and go on about your business without giving the kid another thought, until the authorities inform you what your kid has been doing.

Yes, that sounds like good parenting! (sarcasm)
