I was surprised to receive 3 nights(sun-thur) and 300 free credit at the Wynn casino- I played all of 4 hours at the Wynn on my last visit.

It states to ask for a king suite at the encore for a mid week upgrade.

which place/rooms are best in your opinion?

thanks in advance for all reply's!

The Wynn side is more bustling. More gamblers, more activity, more people passing through. I guess which place is better depends on what you prefer. Both Wynn and Encore are very nice. They just have different energy levels

My GF and I stayed at Encore in the base tower suite rooms first (on a trip with my folks) and then subsequently on the very same offer you got we stayed in a Wynn King room. We found Encore to be more pleasant. The rooms are newer despite the Wynn reno and feel it, or maybe we just got a "bad" Wynn room. It wasn't bad in comparison to anything other than the Encore room though. You just have to be willing to walk a bit further through the shops in between the two hotels.

Really, the rooms in both places are fantastic. Wynn’s rooms are newer - having been reno'd in the past few years. But Encore’s aren’t exactly “old” (the whole place has only been around for less than five years). Encore’s rooms are a little bigger. But Wynn’s rooms are still huge compared with almost every other “standard” room in LV (I think the only bigger ones are Encore, Venetian and Palazzo).

So, for me it would come down to the overall resort. Wynn is much larger and has more of a typical “Vegas Strip” feel in my opinion. There are many more gamblers, sightseers, people going to bars/restaurants etc. While Encore (with the exceptions I’ll mention below) usually has a quieter and more relaxed feel.

Unfortunately (for people like me), Encore has two of the more popular nightclubs in Vegas as well as one of the most popular dayclub/pool scenes. So, most nights from about 11 pm until the wee hours, you have to deal with all the people waiting in line to get into the clubs or coming out of the clubs drunk and loud. (To their credit, Encore does a decent job of trying to “segregate” the club goers from the rest of the place.) And during the warm months, you will also have to deal with the steam of people coming out of the pool parties in the late afternoons. They’ve usually been drinking all day and can be fairly hard to take if you’re still nursing a hangover.

Perhaps the biggest problem for some people, though, is that the noise from the clubs can be heard in some of the rooms at Encore. I’ve never found it so bad that I can’t sleep. But, it is a bit annoying to hear the “thump thump thump” of the bass in your room at three am. You can avoid this noise by getting a north facing room, though.

I don’t want to make it seem as if Encore is nothing but drunken partiers making life miserable for everyone else, because that’s not the case. But at certain times of day, it does take away from the overall “upscale” feel of the place.

If you’re not as easily annoyed as I am, then none of this will bother you much and you’ll be fine at Encore. (And to be honest, the majority of the time, it is my favorite place to be in Las Vegas.)

Also, Wynn will have better gambling, for the most part. Their blackjack games (with the exception of the HL rooms) have better rules. And you’ll find more good paytables on Wynn’s video poker games.

^^^What he said. Encore has nicer rooms, IMO, but Wynn has a better casino. But Sinatra is at Encore. 6-5 you pick.

thecarve made many good points about the floor scene at the resorts. We have stayed at the Encore three times and visited a Wynn room when we took a trip with friends in June 2012. They also visited us in our room at the Encore. All of us thought the Encore room was nicer.

The resorts are pretty darn close together, so walking between the two shouldn't be a problem.

I did a similar offer back in July. Travel mid-week and ask for the free upgrade to a suite at Encore. As mentioned, when checking-in, I asked for something on the North side of the hotel, so to be far away from the club noise.
No problem they said. Also was up high enough to see my new favorite dining place: Tacos el Gordo. It's a 5 minute walk from Encore.

This is a normal offer from Wynncore to see what your play is going to be like if you stay there as well.

Six weeks after I got back from that trip, I received another mailer from Wynncore for the same offer! Too bad I'm still broke from that last trip. :grrr:

Carve pretty much nailed it. I am assuming you got the same mailer (fall/winter offer) that I did that went out on 1 Oct. It's good for 1 Oct to 28 Feb so if you're thinking of that timeframe, you won't have any issues with the Beach Club crowd as that venue will be closed. I honestly don't find the evening nightclub crowd that anoying as they are not drunk & drugged yet. For me, it's when I get up about 0600 and go down for coffee and some gambling...there is always a few left and the people that are up this time of day after indulging all night are not pretty....or any fun to be around. Good news is by about 7 or when it gets light, they seem to disappear.

I love late srping, summer and early fall in Vegas for the nice warm weather and pool time (great break from gambling) but seriously thinking of trying a winter or early spring trip just for that reason of going when EBC is closed.

Personally, I like the rooms and decor at Encore better and the two are so close together that the walk is no more than you might make at some other property getting to a restaurant. The Wynn room is more open where the Encore room has a half wall dividing the sleeping area and living area with a flat screen that swivels between the two.

If you really need/want a strip view (south facing) room that overlooks XS, ask for a high room. That should solve the thumping unless you're a light sleeper. In that case as others have said, ask for a north facing room....or stay at Wynn.

    Try it....you'll love it.

I am usually a Palazzo girl, but I took the Wynn up on that same offer in June. I chose the Encore, and the room was very nice ( the sheets are so nice I even took a nap one day) but if I stay there again I will stay at the Wynn for all the reasons mentioned above. I was a little annoyed with the club kids, and I also preferred the Wynn casino and the restaurants I liked better were on that side. But, either way you can't go wrong.

Wynn is very good at taking new card signups and, after playing a few hours, giving a promo for 3 comped nights. If you show signs you might be someone who could play for a long period of time, they take a chance and offer you comped nights. I like that attitude toward players.

Future offers wont be as easy to get unless you have a lot of daily play or take a significant beating.
