Iam sure that most others here agree that there is no place on this planet like vegas.

wife and I have been to vegas 20 plus times since 1987 and had a blast every single time.

my wife passed away in january and I decided to try vegas last month just to get away and rest my mind and I can`t believe I had an ok time solo!

the bad part is after only a month I would like to go back again for a few days as it is such a great escape for me.

It is not just the gambling as we have casinos right here and I have no desire to go there at all.

I'm sorry to hear of your wife's passing... my sincere condolences. I do agree with your Vegas assessment. I live close to plenty of gaming and NEVER put a dime in up here. For me, Vegas is where it's at!!!

Almost 3 weeks since I have got home from Vegas, and I haven't gambled since. Probably will a bit in the next few weeks (Chicago and/or Tunica), but really just want to go back to escape to Vegas again! It is a drug I think!

Like the saying goes. "Vegas is not a place....it's a state of mind."
Those of us on this forum know exactly what that quote means. We are like a whole different person in Vegas

Drugs would be a cheaper addiction.

It's not "like" a drug Gerry, it is a drug and I am happy to hear you are still addicted and had a blast! I am sorry to hear of your wife's passing and I bet ('cuz I hardly ever do that lol) that she was happy you were enjoying the happy place you shared!

Go see your doctor. Maybe he or she can write you a prescription for "Vegas therapy trip" and have your insurance pay for it with some gambling money. :evillaugh

So sorry to read about your wife. My condolences.

But really happy to read you were willing to "get back up on the horse" and do Vegas solo. Many times that can be the best therapy there is, and as long as you can afford the flights and everything else, I'd go as often as I could.

    My condolences for your loss.

I'm sure I'll kick the bucket long before my wife but this thread got me thinking. If I was alone, what would I do. Not vacation at all, or would I end up in Vegas every month?

Or, would I even move back there and give it another try? I don't know the answer. Hopefully that doesn't come up for a long time and again I am sorry for your loss!

No way you'd move. Your future is to be the addled old man dragging along behind a malfunctioning snow blower mumbling about the times you bartended in Curacao under the never-ending summer sun. :)

To the OP, as other's have said, such sad news. But so awesome you could get back on the horse. Good on ya, mate.

Yes, Vegas is a drug. Now we never saw Vegas as a place where we'd go to adopt alternate personas, but it had an addictive grip on us for sure.

It's funny how Vegas can draw you in.

Last year we went for the first time ever in late June and we only went because there was a Scorpions concert that was simply just unaffordable if we were to see them here in Canada.

Up to this point my GF and I had maybe actually gambled less than $500 between us in our lifetimes.

So we go, and arrive, and hit the strip and OMG you can drink on the strip!! WTF you can smoke inside!! We were in Vegas for an hour and fell in love with the place. We were there 7 nights and still didn't gamble, well maybe $100 between us, never got a comp drink nothin'.

So upon our return home I start reading and reading and start playing a VP trainer. She notices this and starts playing the trainer too.

In Dec. she says to me I think we need to go back, so I book us 3 nights just before Xmas. Well it was cold and windy, I was sick so we start in on the VP and to a small extent BJ. VP was kind, very kind to both of us and we learned about drink service LOL. We played all over got a comp buffet at some DT casino. Great trip and we come home almost even.

Then the offers begin to arrive.....

Back at home and dying to get back to Vegas. We couldn't schedule a damn trip until July this year. Now a lot more savvy and with sizable (for us) bankrolls we return. 7 nights at the TI, limo to and from, lots of VP, incredible drink service some myVegas comps etc. etc. etc. We played all over again and although we both left our bankroll behind we also came home with a lot of coin in.

Back home again and I start getting some teaser type offers then some better offers but nothing great then 3 nights comp room and slot tourney at Paris. Well this sucks I say it's at a bad time. Last Sat night out of the blue I get a 3 night Samba Suite offer from the Rio during our Thanksgiving weekend, GF says book it now LOL.

So off we go again in 11 days.

Is it a drug? Well it could be for us as we are smiling like a couple of fools and giddy like school girls, I also know there's gonna be a downer when we get home too.

Is it a state of mind? Hell yes! When we are there it's like the rest of the world doesn't exist, life is all rainbows and unicorns, cheers and no worries.

My name is Billy and I've partaken in the koolaid that is known as Vegas:licklips:

    Vegas is a separate REALITY.
    *
    It doesn't exist ANYWHERE.......except Vegas.
    *
You can't get it at Atlantic City.....or any local casino.
    *
    Truly.....Adult DisneyWorld.
    *
    ...not even a drug !
