Oh...I'm such a degenerate gambler:hmmm: - I'd have to get out my tax records to count the W2-G's. Don't get me wrong, I'm not proud of it - when I look back at how much I've won in a year I get sick because I rarely bring it home!

I have gotten a handful of hand pays over the years but only one w-2G. I'm trying to figure out why that would be. Were their lower limits for handpays years ago? I'm thinking that before TITO's, a machine wasn't going to spit out $800+ in coins, thus a hand pay..??

I am primarily a dollar vp player with some slots thrown in. I have 15 W2G's so far this year including a 5X multiplier with kicker aces for $10K....my single largest vp jackpot yet. I'm hanging on by my fingernails to a $1K ahead for the year total.....but with 4 more trips to Vegas before the end of the year, it will be hard to stay in the black.

I don't play slots, so this is all in reference to VP. It all depends on the casino. For instance at Suncoast you can collect up to $1,199 with TITO and a jackpot.

At the downtown Boyd properties, even though they have TITO any jackpot requires a hand pay, even if it is under $1,199.

This does not count cumulative winnings. Several smaller wins, but not jackpots, it will spit out a ticket for every dollar over $1,199 and you can continue to play or cash out a ticket for the balance.

4, but three have been because of hitting three times the 1006-1014 USD jackpot of the (cherry?) slot machine..

one has been a real one, i am more of a table player though...still getting all the flashy lights beats the DAS win somehow...

Just 2. $2000 at Harrahs for 4 A's with kicker playing dollars. At Suncoast this year had a 50 cent Royal for $2000.

1 - for me, but I'm not a big slot player...this one came at 3:45 a.m. at the Monte Carlo for a little over $1400.00. I was getting tired and basically just hitting the button at a $1.00 three reel slot machine to run my money out, next to last spin bam...$1400.00 that will wake you up...LOL

One hand pay, I usually don't pay slots. Hit a $1 three reel machine for $1015. $100 in, almost immediately hit a bonus, played it down to about $75 and hit the progressive jackpot.

Fun question! Three for me and luckily I have two of them up on my YouTube channel for those interested in seeing - DProxima is the channel name. My third HP was $4000 on a $2 bet - a Double Double Diamond machine. Good times!

Yeah, before the TITO era, bigger wins were hand-paid to avoid more hopper fills I'd assume. As you said, an $800 win would probably facilitate a hand pay, especially if it was a quarter machine. The tax threshold has been $1200 for decades. For example, the nickel Loose Deuces at the D, which is a coindropper, forces a handpay for 4 Deuces (2500 nickels) and the Royal (4000 nickels). Neither of these come close to being taxed.
