I was just in Vegas the weekend on the 13th and Bill's looked gutted down to the concrete. It had the look of something being removed, not something being renovated. But I have not seen or heard any discussion of its fate. Does anybody know?

Our limo driver from Presidential told us it is definitely a renovation. She said there had been a lot of discussion about it and that the owners (Boyd?) decided to keep the concrete and steel beams and go from there verus using the implode method.

Just a heavy remodel, not a removal! No implosion planned.

you are correct that it is a CET property, but the Gansevoort in Miami went broke shortly after it opened and is now called Perry Southbeach so it is questionable if they really know what they are doing

and in New York they run a club that has some rooms with beds in them that could be construed as a hotel

You haven't looked. Its reconstruction and rebranding has been all over the Vegas newspapers, message boards and internet for over a year now. Like the first thing up on a Google search.

If I'm not mistaken, they had to gut the building so they could increase the support structure to accommodate the added weight and other additions to the top of the building.

Whenever it opens, it won't be Bill's again or anything close.

    Gansevoort is Michael Achenbaum

and yes there will be a Drai club at the Gansevoort, but Gansevoort is the hotel portion

and here is one restaurant owners perspective on working with them in Miami

    http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/shortorder/2011/11/philippe_by_philippe_chows_str.php

asking for a "completion bond" and then going under themselves.....nice....laughing at him about the economy having ups and downs.....nice.....running room service out of a 200 sqft shed.....classy

not surprising the only thing worse was bank ownership of the property haha, but at least that restaurant owner was a survivor and a fighter and a smart businessman

They had to gut the building because it was a dump and it is being turned into a luxury property.

yes gavensport has great parties in nyc and drias will run the clubs.

so one big pool party followed by nite club party.it will be a good addision for cet for young people they need that vibe in there portfolio.
its a class of hotel theey lack.

it will interesting how they will do going head to head with sls.i think bills locoation will be a big advantage over sls.

Opposite the above poster, I'm hating the rebrand. Barbary Coast/Bill's was a nice, low-key place in the center of the Strip where you weren't going to be bothered by "young people." The people who worked there were nice, the limits were low and Fat Elvis rocked.

I won't set foot in the new place for love or money.

Strictly Slots had an article that read :
"Chef, author and television personality Giada De Laurentis plans to open her very first restaurant at the Gansvoort Las Vegas, a brand-new resort scheduled to open in early 2014."

Did a google on "Gansvoort Las Vegas" and found it was part of what was Bills.

    Drais/old bills

It is real nice to see Drais work a deal. At first they were going to tear it down and start the process for parking for remodel of flamingo but it seems that passed by. Drais does some nice clubs and I frequent the new one in Vegas as well as LA. A friend said the club and the new pool will be one of the best in town, cant wait.

In my defense the club scene is wayyyyyyy back in my rear-view mirror.
And not everything planned in Vegas comes to pass. I knew a renovation was the original plan, but after a year and nothing new added to the building, I didn't know if plans had changed.
I do see now they plan on making it the Cosmo of the CET empire, won't that be loud, I mean lovely.
