I just stumbled upon this site last night, based on what I have I already seen I think I may be very happy here:)

What can I say, Vegas IS my " Happy Place" and going there solo can' t be beat. I'm currently feeling like a kid at Christmas as I have a trip coming up next month.

Being that I'm from NJ I am more-or-less a CET person, with Atlantic City about 2 hours away and Harrah's, in Philly, a little closer it just easy and I am always able to get comped rooms in LV.

My game...BJ, that's it for almost 22 years, lol. But growing more curious about craps so if anyone can recommend a beginners site please do tell. For some reason I find the entire betting of that game just confusing.

Anyway hope everyone is having a lucky day!!!

    Welcome to the board.

I grew up in north jersey, right in the heart of sopranos country. Where do you like to play in AC? I've become a mostly marina person sticking to the borgata and harrahs. It's a poor substitute for Vegas but sometimes provides a much needed fix, as does reading this board.

First let me start by saying kickenchicken, I like it,lol. Not sure what it means but it's catchy!

Once upon a time I was a marina side player. But over the years I have found myself on the boardwalk. My SO does not gamble so if he goes down there with me he will parade up and down the b-walk while I play plus if the kids are with us they like the beach and It's Sugar at the mall. Usually I'll stay at Bally's or Showboat mainly due to the fact they have a platinum check in and Caesars doesn't, down there it's all the same to me, this way we can just move along a little quicker, lol.

Basically my gaming takes place at anyone of those. However, Showboat has a high limit BJ game at 50 as opposed to the others set at 100. Depending on my bank roll and how well the cards are playing I could be anywhere.

Have you been to the GN in AC? I'm thinking that my next trip down there shooting over to check it out. Wondering if my players card from GN LV works there, do you know?

Also I am about an hour from the Sands in Bethlehem, Pa. And Mt. Airy in Poconos. I like the Sands b/c they have a few double deck bj tables ( my favorite) but again the tables are at 50.00. So it can be a pretty quick visit :(

    Sybgal,
Thank you and I most certainly will. Planning on going to PHOF, Neon Boneyard and seeing CdS MJ One. Can't wait!

Welcome Happy from another Jersey native (Pt.Pleasant).
Was at the Rio a couple weeks ago and there were $5 craps tables 2 of them actually..I'm still learning the game as I am mathmatically slow/with regard to proper odds bets etc.But when I'm am rolling and if the point is a hard-way possibility I bet the hard way 2 times, one for me and one for the dealers and they put up with me..
Good luck with the BJ,you should find what you are looking for in the high-limit CET rooms, but at the Rio I was screwed finding a $15 3/2 table.Of course the 6/5 tables were busy as hell...I always make it a point to ask the dealers where a 'normal'table is open.
So I was pretty surprised to see $5 craps as opposed to $10..
    Anyways best wishes,go get em!!

Welcome to the board and best of luck with learning the game of craps. It is my favorite game and a number of casinos will offer complimentary lessons on various mornings and afternoons.

Excalibur, Planet Hollywood and Imperial Palace (now the Quad) offered craps lessons in the past. There are probably a few casinos offering lessons downtown as well if you are staying in that area.

The Wizard of Odds site as previously mentioned will allow you to practice online but I would invest in a book or two on the game (typically $10 - $15 at Amazon) which can provide you with some simple strategies to get started (and not lose your shirt in the process)!

    Enjoy your upcoming trip!

Thanks for the warm welcome to all of you:)

    PokerfaceNJ,
I have yet to make my way to Parx but tell me, what's your opinion compared to The Sands ( in Pa, if you have been there)? Parx is a little closer than Harrah's in Chester outside of Philly. But I seem to feel "stuck" with CET properties for the Nj/ LV connection.

I'm not opposed to paying for a room but why do it if I don't have too???

Are you aware if Parx is connected to any prop in LV?

I'd rather go to Harrah's Chester or AC to stay with the CET properties. Parx is a little boring to me and doesn't give comps so why waste money there. Only good thing is there's live horse racing in the next building and I grew up betting the ponies.

    Hi and Welcome.
I live in Belmar and used to be a die hard Borgata lover. When they lost the connection to MGM, I had no choice but to go to CET. I liked being able to use my AC comps in Vegas. CET treats me right in Vegas don't get me wrong, just would rather be in Bellagio or Aria comped more than Caesars.

I would favor harrahs Chester over Parx to be honest as you are correct in that Parx has no other affiliation. I end up going there since it is only 45 mins from my home. Sands is just too far for me but thought it was ok for the one time I was there.
