Hello. This maybe a daft question but hear we go. I'm British and have ordered my dollars. I have no idea what the denominations are though. No option to select this I'd obviously prefer not to have it all in hundreds or even twenties. Could I use the casino cashier to change say 500 each day to whatever I need our duo they only deal in chips and vouchers from slots? Of prefer not to have to find a bank all the time. Regards
If all this cash is for spending/gambling in Vegas, just get it all in $100s. The $100 bill is the coin of the realm in Vegas, and you'll have no trouble breaking or spending them. The ticket redemption machines also usually have a bill-breaking function as well. But to your original question, the casino cage is happy to make change.
Get 100's and a bunch of 20's, once you start doing transactions you will have plenty of the smaller stuff.
I'd like to have plenty of dollar bills for tipping each day. And I'm not putting a hundred in a machine. I'll only occasionally stick a twenty in. Tables are a different story though.
Like WrongWayWade said the redemption machines for slot tickets almost always break bills also. So if you don't feel like going to a cage you can use these.
I was with my brother at the cage once before heading to a strip club and he handed over $500 and asked for 20 $20s and 100 $1s and the cashier didn't blink an eye. Get all the singles you want.
getting 20s maybe, but not for getting 5s and 1s. I always get change from the cage to reload my tip money and have never had a problem.
I believe I put a 20 in the redemption machines at Aria in July and it will as you if you want four 5 dollar bills or three 5's and five 1's. Also if you put a 5 in it will give you 5 ones.
I try to land with at least enough small bills to get me to the hotel/casino (if I'm taking a taxi, bus, or shuttle) usually a couple 20's and a couple 5's and a few singles. Once at the casino breaking bills is dead easy. Every casino has those ticket redemption machines put in a 100 it spits out 5 20's, a 20 gets you 4 5's etc. If you only get 100s from the bank, ask among your friends who have been to the states if they have any small bills left over you can buy from them.
Put in a hundred, you get 5 twentys. Put in a twenty, you get 4 fives, then put in a five and you get 5 singles. Not the most efficient way, but sometimes the line at the cage is too long and there is a changer/redemption near where I play.
If you put in a $20 you get the option of 4x $5 or 3x $5 plus 5x $1. At least MGM and Aria machines do that. I'd go with $100s and a few smaller bills and exchange as you go. There are so many ATM/bill breaking machines out that there is no reason to carry many small bills.
What Joe said! Do it all the time. Travel with almost all $100's. Breaking them down at these machines is fast and easy. Easy to keep small bills on hand. Good Luck!
Put $100 in a machine, play a bit, lose $10, redeem the $90 voucher in the redemption kiosk. Viola, instant small change.
$100's tend to look like $1's after a few adult beverages. I'd recommend keeping them separate for the first time you are in Vegas.
I once put a $193 TITO into a change machine and got a $100 and 93 $1 bills...it was annoying to say the least
If you attempt to put a $1 bill into the bill breaker machine, a red light goes off and security escorts you out for being so cheap. Except at Casino Royale, Slots a Fun, and perhaps Circus Circus.
Hell, they start looking like singles the minute you touch down at McCarran. Once the booze starts flowing, it might as well be Monopoly money.
