what's the best Italian restaurant

We have tries Rao's in the past wondered if there are any other Italian Restaurant's you can recommend on the strip

 

Maggiano's, Onda, Il Fornaio, Trattoria Reggiano.

Fremont - The Grotto

 

if you want real Italian (not the Americanized versions a la Olive Garden, Maggiano's, etc) I would recommend Circo at Bellagio.

 

I would suggest Trevi at the Caesars Forum Shops.

However (comma) Italian is sooooooo subjective!

What type of "Italian" you you mean? Are you looking for a traditional Sicilian red-sauce place? A Northern Italian place? Perhaps an Italian Fusion or Italian-inspired place? Lotsa difference here!

 

I would like to try Northern Italian seeing as my Mother comes from that region and it would be nice to compare

 

You've received some pretty good recommendations in the responses. My recommendation is a little off strip on Convention Center Drive, but it is a 5 star place. Bootleggers bistro was pretty good when we ate there last month ( tho a lot of people would probably call it Americanized Italian food, but that's the kind of Italian food I like). Their chicken parm was deeeliscious....

 

Trevi is good, Fellini's in the Stratosphere is awesome and so is Salvatore's at Suncoast, but the new tops of tops is Carmines in Ceasar's forum shops. It's southern Italian, great sauce.

 

I'm partial to Onda at the Mirage.

 

For atmosphere, Bartolotta @ Wynn is tough to beat. Food is really good too but pricey.

 

I second Trevi. One of my favorites.

 

Totally agree Circo is a place we eat every trip...highly recommend.

 

I am a big fan of Martorano's at the Rio. I usually mention it in these types of threads since no one else does. The food is great and the prices are reasonable. If you check it out on Yelp, you will notice that pretty much all negative reviews are regarding the atmosphere, not the food. It can get louder than most restaurants, and at least once or twice per hour, they will play scenes from classics such as Goodfellas and The Godfather on the TVs with the volume jacked way up. I am a fan of the vibe there; it's a fun place. The negative Yelp reviewers were obviously expecting a traditional buttoned up, white table cloth affair.

I wouldn't call Martoranos reasonable. Pricey is more like it. Food is VERY good however.

 

I happen to like them Batisttas Bootlegger and Chicago Joes a LOT. Not fancy, or showy but good solid places. I know I will get killed for liking Batistta's but never caught a bad meal there.

 

I mean if people want the REAL Italian food..........How many places serve sufritto, manesta porchetta, rabbit loin etc...on the menu REGULARLY. I find it funny that people call it Americanized( almost like its BAD FOOD). Im Sicilian and love the veal chick parms, lasagna, scallops puttanesca etc . The reason why its Americanized its because a lot of people LIKE IT!! If ya want things THAT authentic, the major northeast/Midwest/ west coast cities might be better suited..or a trip across the pond.

FWIW if some knew what or how some of the above food was made sufritto , manesta etc.... ( and do remember the old time Italians/Sicilians-- and ya can add Europeans and others-- used EVERYTHING from the animal), ya might vomit or get scared off.. Just watch Andrew Zimmern when he did the shows from there and our cultures ( or at least my family and those I know)used to cook that way up until about 40-50 years or so ago.
