My mother died 3 years ago this month and I miss her terribly. She was a HUGE Vegas fan and introduced me to the glory of Vegas during, what I consider, a fantastic time which was the 80s and 90s, though she had been going since the 70s.

She had asked me years before that, when she passed away, that I'd spread her ashes in Vegas. She had a sense of humor and actually asked me to sprinkle her around the casinos all over town.

Ultimately, I decided to spread her ashes in Red Rock Canyon with a simply stunning view. And here's her view for all time.

Red Rock is a beautiful place and I hope everyone gets a chance to visit.

Just wanted to share and here's to you mom! MUAH!!!

That was a great tribute. Some of my dads ashes were scattered at Red Rock Canyon a few years ago. He also loved Vegas (Westward Ho and Stardust were his places of worship).
My dad asked me to spread his ashes in 3 places.........on my moms grave, at sea (he was a Navy veteran), and RRC. I spread his ashes on the Calico Tanks trail near the Agave Pit overlooking the landscape.
I think you and i did a great thing in having a loved one looking out forever in eternity to a little place "in the meadows".

 Here's to your mom and all our mom's :blowkiss:

Not that we need reasons to remember, but just every so often, when we are wrapped around some mess that ultimately isn't important like I am now, something gives me a reminder of my mom and dad, like your post just did, and reminds me of all the great times I had with my parents and how much they are missed.

I know the missing part is very hard, but it seems like many of us have reasons for veryyyyy fond memories of our parents and Vegas is one of them..Thank you for that this morning and again salute to your mom

Picture this: My 94 year-old party girl mother was in the hospital and not doing well, the family was gathered around her bed when she said, "We're going to have fun soon!"

The family looked at each other and decided that she was "losing it." So I gently asked, "What do you mean, Mom?"

Mom opened her eyes and gave the Mother Look, and said, "We're going to Vegas, baby!"

That is where she wanted her ashes scattered.

BTW, it looks like we both "hauled ash" Red Rock.

Very nice post, as was the OP's! I lost my father this month last year and Mom probably won't be too far behind, but I have LOTS of great memories and the knowledge that parts of both of them live on inside of me and my children as long as we let them! Live, love, laugh!!! :peace:

Very nice tribute! I lost my mom 20 years ago and my dad just this past February. They both loved Vegas and I did take a trip with them there when I was 21. I'm glad I got to do that with them at least once.

    Nice tribute.

I was going to make a joke about her forgetting to tip you a 20 for strip-view but it seemed inappropriate. Glad you had those great times together and you can think of her fondly whenever you visit.

I lost my Vegas-loving mom in January of last year. She and my sisters would take trips there and always invite my to come, but I'd always say I wasn't interested. One day my sister invited me to join them for Mom's retirement celebration in Vegas, and I thought, what the hell, what better reason do I need? Needless to say, I've been hooked ever since and I have Mom to thank for it. There were many trips with Mom and my sisters after that. I couldn't believe I had missed out all those years. And for the record, she was a helluva blackjack player. I was so glad that on our last trip with Mom I sat down and played some BJ with her at MSS.
