Ferris Wheel near Mandalay Bay

    Hi all

    Are they still planning on building a Ferris wheel near Mandalay Bay or have they changes their minds??

    They are building it over by the Flamingo. Should open next year

    They claim they are still building it, but work seems to have stopped. Last I heard, they found enough money to pay the convicts from the local jail that were doing the welding on it.

    The one across from Mandalay Bay was to be called Sky Vue
    The one at the Linq at Harrahs is called High Roller for the present time, but is looking for a new name.

    There are two being built right now, the one across from MB and the one down behind The Quad...the one near Quad is still progressing nicely...the one near MB has stalled...

    Unless something dramatic happens - that wheel is dead. The developer can't get further financing. And, the reason he can't get it is because he failed to line up potential tenants for the site. We all like to see projects succeed in LV. But, I don't think this one will make it.

    I don't understand how it makes sense to have two giant ferris wheels on the strip. Does either of them have anything remarkable about them, other than size? I thought LV was trying to get away from amusement-type attractions.
