Has anyone staying at the tower rooms at the El Cortez been able to get and use the Downtown FREE WiFI Signal?
    Thanks

I will be bringing a Alfa High Gain USB Wireless Long-Rang WiFi network Adapter with 7dBi Panel Antenna which normally picks up signals from a long way away, otherwise I will try for a change to the small deluxe cabana room which has FREE WiFi....or if that doesn't work....I guess I will just have to experiment and see what signals I can grab.
    I need my WiFi:cry:

It worked well for me down on the street (Fremont). My phone could see the network but not connect from the Rush tower looking out the window towards Fremont or from a Fremont room looking down on Casino Center Dr.

Great, then there is hope for me yet.

Do they really have 31 floors at the GN or is that something like the 117th room on the 3rd floor?

I got rid of my internet provider a year or two ago and miss it little for what I need. I assume your units amplify the free wifi signal. Is it worth the cost. What does a unit run approximately and are their good, better and best ones? I guess yo can find them at BestBuy but are there better places to pick one up like online? Thanks for any advice you can offer.

The alfa's are considered to be the best for the money, the Alfa with the 7Dbi antenna is the best of the Alfa series for about $28.
    Search eBay for:
    Alfa 1000mW Wi-Fi AWUS036H w 5 dB OMNI & 7 dB DIRECTIONAL antenna LONG RANGE KIT
    Ships very quickly.

Very Pleased and Netflix works too.

I figure that is a pretty cheap way out of 11.99/day for wifi so I ordered what you have and it arrived in 2 or 3 days. I read the quick instructions and put the cd in my computer but the screens that came up did not display anything close to wht I was supposed to click on. There is no Tech # to call. I loaded something in and finally it sees like it was instructions for installing a router. I have a hp Satellite L455 with windows 7. Any ideas?

The same issue was reported by several users on the Amazon, com site. Here’s the link to the discussion and the fix for the problem.

I'm not that big a computer guy and each year I know less. My wife has an iPad, is there a way to use this antenna with it? The iPad has no USB port.

Without a usb port I don't think it will work , otherwise email alfa support and see what they say.

    Thanks Sam and Foos,
I clicked on the site and had no clue. I played and looked and clicked on things and felt so stupid, then I looked and a green light was flashing and my signals were all doubled. I have no idea what I did or if it was right but I got a great signal from my office where at times there was no signal at all. I don't think I could do it again or explain to anyone how I did it but it's working now anyway! tHANKS AGAIN.
