What is the best way for me to visit Fremont from the strip? I am staying at the Vdara and will have a monorail pass as well.

If you can make your way (via walking) to Paris, there is a bus stop on the strip right in front of Sugar Factory. Buy an all-inclusive bus ticket from the ticket vending machine at the bus stop ($8 for a 24 hour pass). Hop on the bus called the SDX (Strip & Downtown Express) when it comes by. The bus will make a couple of stops (Wynn, Bonneville Transit Center) before dropping you off downtown (near Golden Nugget). The bus ride is about 25 minutes.

You won't need to swipe your ticket to get on the bus, but you may need to show your ticket to a bus security officer if she/he asks.

To go back to the strip, board the SDX at the corner of Fremont @ Casino Center (right by Binion's) and the bus will drop you off in front of Bellagio.

The SDX runs from about 9am until 1230am, so if you are traveling outside of those hours, you will want to hop on the Deuce. The Deuce makes many more stops so the ride will take longer, but it runs 24 hours. The bus pass you buy for the SDX will also work on the Deuce. You can catch the Deuce on the strip in front of almost any casino. Downtown, you can catch the Deuce at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd @ Fremont st (near Hennessey's, and right across the street from the bar called Park on Fremont).

I hope that helps. Of course, you can always take a cab. It'll probably run just over $20 (depending on traffic) to take a cab one way from Vdara to downtown.

One more thought: You mentioned you'll have a monorail pass. So, the directions above will probably work for getting you downtown from the Bally's/Paris monorail station. However, if you take the monorail to the MGM Grand, you can hop on the WAX (Westcliff Airport Express) bus at the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd (picks up on Tropicana by NYNY). This bus runs less frequently than the SDX, but uses the highway to get downtown so it's a fairly quick trip. The WAX drops off downtown at the corner of 4th @ Carson. A one way trip on the WAX costs $2, and you can pay with exact change/cash on the bus.

To go back to Tropicana @ Las Vegas Blvd from downtown, the WAX picks up from downtown at the corner of Fremont @ Casino Center (right next to Binion's).

Check out rtcsnv.com for a schedule.

Thank you very much! That was a great help. I have been to Vegas 4 times and never ventured off the strip so it will be long over due.
