    My Trip Report

Greetings fellow VMB's!!! Due to an impending divorce coming up in early November, a Vegas trip was definitely needed to get out of town for awhile. Once the legal process was started, a trip was booked. I won't bore you with details in regards to the cause of the divorce, but, I can say with 110% certainty that I will be much better off in the long run. And, please no "I'm sorry comments or posts, it is so much for the better.

The trip is in process right now as I am currently typing away in my cousins living room in North Las Vegas. My cousin and her husband recently moved here as he is in the US Air Force and is currently stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. I arrived from Milwaukee on Wednesday night around 6:30 pm local time after about an hour delay in MKE. 4 Southwest drink tix kept me company on the flight over. My cousin picked me up from LAS and whisked me away to their house in North Las Vegas. Once there, we had dinner and relaxed with a whole bunch of Coors Light for an hour or so. But, as some of you know or may have read previously, I have a slight Video Poker problem. The problem, I love playing it.

My cousin had to work Thursday morning at 0700, so being the nice gal that she is, she dumped me and her husband off at The Cannery in North Vegas around 10ish. I head to the Can Club and pick up card just for fun and I start to get down to business. The original plan was to stay till 1ish and then take a cab home. But, plans change. I settle into some $1 DDB batops with a shitty paytable of 7/5. Yes, that's right, 7/5 at a locals casino. I'm into my 5th $100 bill when and about my 3rd beer, when I was dealt two aces and pulled up the other two on the draw. No kicker, but, a good start.

We then walk around the casino for a bit and try out some various vp machine on the floor and really we had a good time just doing that. Afterwards, I head to Pinups which is the center bar at The Cannery. I peel thru about $500 without a hint of a 4OAK. My cousin Joe and I talk about leaving but I saw a couple open spots at a $5 min DD blackjack game. The game had good rules in my opinion. BJ pays 3:2, double on any 2 cards, double after split. I buy in for $300 and feel like just playing a few shoes and then head home. I start playing and went on what I can only describe as some type of heater(and you never leave the table on a heater). The gorgeous cocktail waitress always made sure our drinks/beer were full. I think after the tips she was getting, she came back quite often which was usually in the $5 range.

I buyin for my $300, am just getting hit with the deck. Blackjacks, tons of 20's, the dealer would keep busting, splits and doubledowns all hitting. We played for about 5 hours at the same table and I remember the cards being changed at least 3 times while we were there. Joe and I were warned a couple times due to our constant dropping of the F bomb in every other sentence. We would apologize and then do it again 20 minutes later. We were heavily intoxicated and really just having a great time playing and chatting. Long story short, I cashed out at around 5:30 or so to the tune of $1500 or so. So plus $1200 onthe BJ table, my single best session ever. My bets were creeping up into the $150 range at one point and time and we just kept winning.

Thursday I finally get up and moving around 2:30 or so. We hang out at the house and wait for my cousin to get home from work. She arrives around 4:30 and we have to head to Planet Hollywood so I can check in. Check-in was a breeze as I'm a lowly platinum member. I originally was going to stay at Flamingo but after reading recently about the sewage issue, chose against it. I booked a Hollywood Hip room for 5 nights and was originally charged $101 for Saturday night. After some looking at rates, the price dropped to $51. So I called the reservation number and was able to get the reduced rate of $51, the day I left. Awesome!!!

Checked-in, asked for a high room with a strip view. I told him I'd throw him a $20 if he good get me resort room and he came thru for me. Went up and this is one very, very nice room. on the 20th floor kinda facing the strip and Paris. We leave the Ho for greener pastures and head to Casino Royale to check my comp dollar balance and get a bite to eat. I have $164 in food comps at the Royale and take a comp ticket for $160 to use at Outback Steakhouse. We use it all up plus another $1.61. We all had steaks and it was quite a decent meal. I left a $40 tip on the $161 tab and we went down and played a little bit. I lost a few hundred and then we bailed from there. We did some tourists things such as watching the Mirage Volcano and the Bellagio Fountains. Afterwards, we headed back to the vehicle and were back at home by 10:30 or so I retire to bed around midnight. Have to save my live for the weekend.

The tentative plan today is to check out Nellis Air Force base with my cousins husband and head to Planet Hollywood early this afternoon. I spoke with Kimsa70 from the board and may meet up with her tonight for some VP and a beer chugging contest (which I'll probably lose). I met up with her when I was here in March at a meetup at MSS along with Joe, Turtleman and his wife, and another couple who I don't remember (sorry). She pretty much drank me under the table that day so we'll see what tonight's shenanigans are.

If I remember correctly, Planet Dailies has free wifi so watch for some potential updates from there. As always you can follow me on Twitter @kaboom_poker and watch or some random pics and updates thru there.

Forgot to mention that I'll be here till Tuesday. So lots of time for drunken debauchery and gambling. Hoping to be up by 9am on Saturday to watch Wisconsin just kick the shit out of UMASS. But' we'll see how late I'm up on Friday and how many alcoholic beverages are consumed.

So, your title is "Predivorce celebration"? hmmmm, be careful posting your winnings... Not a wise choice - :poke:

We LOVE to see those wins - but perhaps your "ex-to-be" probably likes them more than us...:evillaugh

    K'now what I'm sayin'?

I'm reminded of the old joke, "Do you know why divorce is so expensive? Because it's worth it."

    congrats on the divorce.

My only regret is not doing it years earlier!!

You will be sad to know that they dont give you a certificate suitable for framing. Just some boring paperwork. Thats ok though, its well worth it for your freedom.

    Welcome to freedom my man.
