Many of you VMB'rs know about this. The Golden Arm Club was established at the California Hotel shortly after Stanley Fujitake rolled the bones for over 3 hrs., a feat never repeated nor beaten at the Cal.

Now, to be admitted to this elite club, you need to roll the dice a minimum of 1 hr. You get a plaque with your name on it, and it gets hung on the wall of the skybridge that joins the Cal with MSS.

This is not new. Other Casinos have similar recognition for their patrons who roll the dice for extraordinary length's of time. Fremont, for example, have their sharpshooter's club where they track the number of rolls before you 7-out.

Anyway, the purpose of this thread:

How does the pit track how long you hold the dice? I, for example, got pretty close back in 2011 when I was told I rolled 50-something minutes ( I think 53, don't quite remember...) this can't be a true account of my rolls since I remember the dealers taking a long time to pay off bets due to players pressing their bets. Then they had to bring in more black and purple chips which calls for the boxman to count the chips meticulously. (I also wonder if this is a way they cool down hot rollers, lol!)

Anybody out there able to bring light on this subject? Maybe someone out there who is a Golden Arm Member or know some-one who is? How does the pit know I was gonna go on a heater thus started tracking me?

    Or....do they just kinda guess.

I remember when the dreaded 7 finally showed all the players clapped and exclaimed that I reached the Golden Arm requirements. Pit then declared I was just a tad under.

    In other words, no dice....

I admit, this is one of my secret desires, lol! Hope to make it one day...

So, what do you think? Any sure answers? Theories? Everytime I walk past the skybridge and see those plaques I think back to 2011. Hell, it was only 7 minutes short...maybe they made a mistake...?:Þ

My guess is when a roller is hot they have security check the tape so they know when his roll started. Again just a guess.

O got hassled by security one morning for taking pictures of the golden arm display. I was the only one on the bridge and was coming from breakfast at mss.

Thought it was a neat thing so decided to take a few pic. A security guard showed up and was standing right near me, only us two in the bridge. After he saw me snap a couple pics he told me I could not do that and had to leave.

Weird i thought. They are always on me like that for some reason though. I have no idea why.

I agree. It's a rare enough event that security can spend a few minutes to double check the length. And also it's a cheeky way to keep an extra eye on you when you are rolling well.

I can't answer your question but I'll use your thread to comment on something that astonished me about The Californian. It's famous for it's craps because of the Golden Arm club. The shock to me was when I found out they only offer double odds.

I think it is only a general estimate of time. I don't think they actually time each shooter, nor do I think they take the time to review videos as to length of time. I could be mistaken though.

A couple of years ago I was rolling at 3 am. I rolled for 48 minutes, only had about 6 of us on the table. when I crapped out the pit boss said that I shot around 48 minutes (I timed it and it was actually more like 52 minutes) and if it was during the regular times of day or night my roll would probably have been way over an hour with all the bets and payouts that would have taken place. unfortunately that didn't qualify me for the golden arm club either.

Many of the other casinos that have craps awards started them way after the golden arm club was created. the fremont one was only started a few years ago, they have a bj award for hitting so many bj's in a certain time period. Binions has a wall but I am not sure if it was for craps or machine winners. lvc also had a wall by their player's club but it was for slot/vp winners. the fremont sharpshooter one isn't that reliable though, the boxman doesn't always start the counter on roll 1 or increment it regularly (I rolled and looked like he missed at least 7 rolls on a 40 roll period). another thing, if you are playing on the $3 tables you may not qualify for the sharpshooter award. I was on that table this year and asked why the boxman didn't increment the counter on every throw (he did it on every other throw). they mentioned that it was because it was a $3 table.

the golden arm club has a reunion every year, they get together and have a tournament of all previous winners, a very select crowd.

Just FYI, there is an extension to the golden arm club, it is called the platinum arm club. these are for multiple golden arm winners or someone who shot over a certain period of time, it may be 2 hours or an hour and 3/4 or something. on the plaques you can see the platimun arm chit.

yes, they only have double odds, guess because enough people play there that they don't have to offer better odds like MSS. the fremont also only has double odds.

My guess is that if you were Hawaiian you would have had your picture taken with your new Golden Arm jacket.

They don't count the rolls on the come out. Two weeks ago I made it past 30 rolls (pretty sure it was over 45 minutes) and earned enough points to get a Fremont hat. It was late with only three of us playing, I got a chance to ask the box about the count he was managing. He said they only count rolls once a point is set. I wish I could remember if I were on the $3 table.

I wasn't aware that they awarded prize points for decent rolls. The pit manager came and asked for my players card and came back with a note and how many points I had earned for my roll.

On the same trip I witnessed parts of a 2 hour plus roll at MSS, no way you could get on the table. One of the regular Hawaiians playing closest to the dealer asked a few times how long the roll had been going. Each time the pit manager would have an answer for him.

I watched one guy walk away from the table with a rack and a half of $500 chips (Orange) not normally on the table at MSS. I figure it was roughly $75,000. He had max bets on the hard-ways and started betting $100 hard-ways on the hop.

Tipped the shooter a Black chip each time he threw a hard number. One of the dealers cleaned up the tips with a full rack of mostly Black and Green chips.

it depends how you dress and how you look not just what your doing. security cant go after every tom dick and harry who does something suspicios or just looks like trouble so they have to pick and choose by gut. one of my buddies gets hassled by security in tunica sometimes because he looks like a trouble maker. they also have to be careful about people off the street downtown.

    Nice

    Nice.

I've rolled for over an Hr & 1/2 in Tunica.
All I got was a poked by the Stickman & Scowl from the Boxman & repeatedly told make sure you hit the back wall.

    bla bla, bla!:Þ

    Color me up!

yes, I know the come out rolls don't count but I notice that sometimes the boxman either doesn't start the counter until a few throws have passed or seems for forget to increment the count every so often.

yes, don't you hate it to see a hot table and you're not on it.
