Just got done on reading about Extended South Strip.

These are the Silverton with the Bass Pro Shops,

    The South Point,

    And The M.

What caught my interest was one poster said upon these three:

EACH ONE HASE A DIFFERENT VIBE.

    That really caught my attention.

These are all do able via the bus system without a car rental.

Cindy and I, for the first time, will use our free crazy off the strip night, (middle week stay) to Southpoint, instead of Downtown. We no longer have any desire for Downtown, period, for our one night crazy night away from the strip.

But I need to hear more about the Vibe on an earlier post.

    The poster was referring to:

Silverton, South Point, and the M.

Poster was referring to the difference in "VIBE" of these three places..

PLEASE TELL ME MORE... about the VIBE at night for these three places. :drunk:

I don't know much about Silverton.. but Southpoint is decent, it's always busy. It's more of a locals place. I hear they have great video poker. M is a beautiful place, worth checking out... it's generic (reminds me of the local indian casinos), but it's nice and upscale. It's pretty far though, it's near Southpoint, another 5 miles maybe?

Although, none of those places are all that exciting to me... and definitely not must visits.

There is no bus route that services the M.

They have their own shuttle, though

South Point does have very good VP, but I don't love the vibe there.

M is more upscale, but very remote. I love it there. Great restaurants, fabulous waitresses, good comps, all the newest slots and they play great music. It is similar to an Indian casino but it is still a great property and definitely worth a visit. I've spent many a drunken hour at the M bar on the casino floor drinking lemon drops and watching football.

Silverton is my LV "hidden gem". I absolutely love it here. Excellent comps, great restaurants (especially Twin Creeks), very good CW service. Casino is moderate sized but offers a very good selection of games, both new and older. A very laid back atmosphere, very casual, none of the phoney hustle and bustle of Strip properties. Several great bars for hanging out. The giant aquarium (done by the "Tanked" guys) is gorgeous and the Bass Pro Shop is a nice diversion. There's an In'n'Out across the street too (we don't have them in Boston).

Love the Silverton. Although I have not stayed the night. I love the buffet for lunch but I see in Sept they have bogo buffet on thurs . Avoid thurs and senior mon, looooong lines.
The whole place is nicely designed. Very comfortable. Good staff.

They for sure all have a different vibe.

M is rather sheik, everything looks nice and clean, lots of modern artsy feeling about the place, like Cosmo, et al. I think the mins. were a bit higher, like $10 craps table. Breakfast seemed like a pain in the ass, no quick and go. Morning was when we stopped in, but we didn't last long there, we are simple eggs and toast people.

Southpoint. I like the live music they have on the weekend, the piano guy and then either the classic rock band or 80's band. The vibe though for me, was rather Wal-Mart, and for some strange reason as much as I want to love the place I have ended up having two legit bad experiences, none of which was the casino's fault really but still, leaves a bad taste sorta. They have a killer sushi restaurant now near the poker room. Opened in March. for my two week stay I went there three times.

Silverton -the quietest. My favorite place in Vegas. I will say decent CW service, I never got great, but I drink a lot, I also tip well which says something about not great service. I stayed a week and I went to the bar to buy a beer a couple times because it just took to long. Mexican food place is nice, the ambience for me is the best of the three. Bass Pro Shops is the perfect place for me to get lost when I need a break. My fav. pick for one night middle of the week. Rooms are ok, but's it just one night. If you want quiet go here.

The "M" Resort is almost entirely a local's joint. Very few tourists. Lots and lots of senior citizens. The casino is elegant, beautiful, and sometimes boring. If you are looking for a lively craps table with lots of hootin-n-hollerin, look elsewhere. The hotel rooms are easily the nicest of the three.

The Silverton is a mix of tourists and locals. It is the smallest of the three properites. It can be crowded or empty depending on the season. Pluses include Starbucks coffee comped at all casino bars. A great value buffet. And really nice rooms for dirt cheap prices.

The Southpoint has the largest percentage of tourists of the three. It was originally a Boyd property and basically a cookie cutout of the Orleans. It has since changed ownership but essentially the vibe is the same.

When the M opened it drew a lot of youngsters. I'm not sure if they meant to do this or not but, your comments are right on about the current vibe and average age of the majority of guests there.

We used to make the M a must stay/visit but, it's not really worth the trip anymore. They also tightened the slots so that it was very noticeable and the subject of much chatter elsewhere.

We will be at Southpoint next week for five nights and then to Planet Hollywood for three after that with a double booked Sunday night at the Gold Coast in between.

My wife and I have stayed at South Point a few times. It is 6 miles from Mandalay Bay. As I recall, there is a shuttle between Mandalay and South Point running at regular intervals.

South Point has several good restaurants, a decent buffet (good value), a movie theater, a bowling alley and at times has notable entertainment. Easy parking and, because it is not as big as the other strip hotels, it is not as intimidating; a good place to hang out and gamble.

If you rent a car, the interstate entrance is right behind the hotel. You can be anywhere on the strip in just a few minutes.
