I think it depends. I lost $100 on the machines in an hour before so it all depends on how long you figure to play each day, if you have a limit on play, luck, etc.

hard to say as everyone is different, some will keep on playing, while others like me will stop if I lose a certain amount.

Yeah, it really depends on gambling volume per day. If you play 3 hours a day, then you're rarely going broke. If it's 8 hours a day...eh not as much, especially if you plan to play bad Strip paytables.

Also if NLHE has to come from the VP budget, that could throw a wrench in things too. $1/$2 NLHE is quite swingy as well.

If you take a break if you're not winning anything you'll be ok. I can't believe it but 20 yrs ago, my bride and I would go for Sat to Sat and only take $1K for both of us to gamble with.

Back in those days we had to pay for everything and now we get our room and food for "free":rolleyes2:.....with an increased budget of $6-7K that is:poke:

Like thay say, there's no free lunch but in Vegas if you're going to be a degenerate gambler, you may as well get what you can. I will (honestly) say that if it weren't for the comps, I would back way off the gambling or possibly not even go....it would be too expensive of a trip.

I think that should be enough. I mostly play DDB VP and $1k would easily last 3 days. Substituting the less volatile JoB when DDB is being mean should help.

It just matters how long you will play and how critical it is that you play that long. 20 hours on $1k seems like it could be a stretch.

You should be fine, just depends if that horrible bad streak happens and you only get 8 hours of play. Is that ok?

I agree with above as well, you can throw in some JoB if you are having some bad luck.

Like higgiel said, playing JoB will be less volatile and will aid in the stamina of your bankroll. VMB member westie posted this article link yesterday to better explain volatility and variance: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96670

My wife plays the penny machine of JOBs with 100 hands which comes to $1 per turn. Based on her results, $1K would be more than enough.

Wouldn't that be $5 per spin if she is playing all 100 hands?

Not if she's only playing 1 credit per hand.

Why not play 20 hands at 5 credits?

The last two times I went I brought $700 and $900 about, stayed 5-6 days and I never went broke playing and eating using that money. I had a few good and bad days but if you budget youll be fine. This time I have a better job so I am going to bring a lot more and budget myself daily. just knowing when to stop and knowing little cheap places to eat will help you big time. $1.99 foot long hot dogs in casino royale i lived on for 2-3 days, not because I was broke but it was actually good and helped me save money haha.

Haha, yep the ole $1.99 hot dog, I had a few of those my last trip, I splurge for Panda express or Chipotle if i do decent lol

$1000 should be OK, I usually bring $700-$2000k per trip, and the wife and I both gamble throughout most of the day she never brings more than $800-$900

My bankroll doesn't include food and entertainment. Only gambling. I take extra for all that.

Again you "should" be fine. The only time it will be a problem is if you have very bad luck.

If you are really really concerned, include the number of hours you want to play and % of the time you are ok with playing JoB vs DDB. At least then maybe someone can tell you the chance of going broke before that time. Saying 2-3 days is pretty vague.

Otherwise, just go enjoy Vegas. :)

I get bored pretty fast at video poker and I will be with my wife who doesn't gamble. So my guess would be 3-4 hours a day max.

Your grand "should" be enough, however if you're like a lot of people(me included), when you are down a fair amount you will start concocting plans of how you can get it back quick, such as ramping up to the high buck machines(because you're due), or walking over to that BJ table , betting a couple hundred...and letting it ride. Alcohol could also play a small role! :drunk:

Budget daily limits and you'll be fine. Casino hopping really extends the roll. $40 here, $30 there, and you'd be surprised at how many hit and runs you'll enjoy.

Gaming, cabs, tips and drinks are cash. Everything else is plastic.

Variance is a fickle bitch. The second or third time I played Deuces Wild (25ยข), I hit quad deuces twice within 5 minutes. "What a game!" I thought. It was a crappy pay schedule as well.

So I go home, research the game, learn about Full Pay, and stuck a Benjamin into a Full Pay Deuces Wild machine on my next trip. It may have lasted me 20 minutes.
