I saw this machine a few years ago and the Wizard Of Oz machine just wonder if any one played them and are they any good.
Meh. I prefer the original WoZ machine or the two new ones with the touch screens (Enchanted Forest and Emerald City). Ruby Slippers is ok, but I could never seem to get it to pay off, unlike the others.
I like Ruby Slippers. If you get the Glinda bonus you can make some money. Pricey though as max bet is 4.80 on the penny machine. You should check out you tube and query Ruby Slippers slot machine..there are alot of videos and some great payoffs.
I've received a few good payouts on Emerald City, but only lost on the Enchanted Forest. I don't recall seeing the new one yet.
I've played it, and I think its just "OK" for a slot machine. The original Wizard of Oz was extremely popular (hence why there are so many spin offs of that line now) but Ruby Slippers never seemed to really catch on. I think the two main problems it had were: - The bonuses can sometimes be quite rare and they aren't all that interesting and for a game that is heavily reliant upon the bonuses for you to have a chance to get ahead they usually don't pay well. - When they put the game out WMS was really stuck in a groove where all the games they were making at the time played very much the same and were all designed where you got almost no long term continuous play (the machine sucks your money up like crazy) and then if you are one of the lucky ones you'll occasionally hit a gigantic miracle win. IE: almost every time you win anything on the game its going to be less than or equal to your wager... bet 40 cents a spin and you keep winning between 5 and 50 credits back when you win. They have put out a few new Wizard of Oz themed games since and the two newest ones are proving to be quite popular, and nice looking machines too (Emerald City and Haunted Forest).
Emerald City and Haunted Forest really are beautiful new cabinets. But my GF and I played them probably a combined total of 20 times on our last trip and they were terrible every single time paywise. The WMS trend is towards low volatility slots which while it extends play, gives you very little chance of walking away up.
You are dead on with your analysis of WMS. Low volatility and poor paybacks are the result of casinos being so far in the red.
I played these in the vancouver area. They were paying the first week. I play them once inawhile now, terrible, if , no returns. I think they are sure money pits. Hopefully some new machines and games for me soon.
Generally jackpots that get that high are tied into whats called a wide area progressive - meaning thy're all tied into one pot of cash so to speak spread out through several if not hundreds of casinos in an area or state.. The most popular are the Megabucks machines that jackpot it up to about 11.4 million now.
:eek2:eek2 wow! Most ive won from a slot was $1100 playing Grease lol No idea if they even have it anymore. Certainly not here. Didnt seem to last long.
It's still around. Speaking of 50's nostalgia, I won a bunch of money playing Happy Days on 2 separate occasions in the same casino a few years back..
