    Hey,
    I have some good friends that are relocating to England, small town close to Whitehaven. We have done all the regular farewells etc, but these were my drinking buddies. I am thinking of putting 20 pound note in a card and saying first round is on me! It is just a symbolic thing but I know they would appreciate it. My question is, 20 pounds would buy a first round or two yes??

    And what they drink. Last week in Ulverston I was paying £2.80 for a pint (20 fl oz) of Stella in a pub.

    Where are they moving to? If it's in the Lake District tourist area, it might not be enough.

    Thanks for all the answers. 20 should be enough, again it is just symbolic. They will be in Whitehaven on the coast. I am hoping that during their 2 year assignment, I will be able to get over for a visit.
