Looking for a very retro-inspire place on the strip or downtown to have a drink or two. Any suggestions? Thanks.

DT - I like the Bar at Oscars at the Plaza, has/had a nice view of Fremont Street. I'm assuming it's still there, the view however may be impeded by the Slotzilla (zip line ride) monstrosity that is currently under construction. I also like all the bars inside the Golden Nugget - vp is absolute shit though. The El Cortez has a lounge called The Parlour Lounge that has a super nice retro feel to it, plus cheap (very retro btw) stiff drinks and great people watching.

The Strip - Ghost Bar or wtf ever it's called on top of the Palms has a great view, may need db blocker though, and be prepared for $10 Budweiser longnecks:rolleyes2: The Top of The World rest and bar at The STRAT - great food good drinks, kinda retro not that bad as far as pricing is concerned.

Top of the World bar (called Level 107) has two for one martinis and half price appetizers from 4-7pm. Both drinks and food were very good. Can highly recommend the cosmic cucumber martinis and bacon wrapped peppadew peppers. Bar looks somewhat like an airport lounge, but what a view.

Surely the Fireside Lounge at the Peppermill tops any list of 'retro' themed drinking establishments.

For retro, I think you have to go with peppermill. For cool, Chandelier bar at Cosmo is tough to beat

    Bars

Asking for a top bar in vegas is like asking what club. there are so many its hard to pick just one.
The Chandelier Bar at Cosmo is great, as well as Peppermill
Seahorse Lounge at Caesars Palace is unique
    Salute inside Palazzo
Petrossian is a classy piano bar in Bellagio
The Griffin is a neat place near downtown, put part of the new bar scene there
West Wing bar at mgm is worth checking out
If your looking for a couple of fun, chill places to go check out The Bar at New York New York and Napoleans Piano Bar at Paris

The Fireside Lounge at The Peppermill is a great spot on the Strip with a cool 70's retro vibe.

Slightly off the Strip, there is a fantastic place called Frankie's Tiki Room and it is vintage 60's tiki lounge all the way - if you want a true retro experience, this is definitely a cool place to check out:

Frankie's and The Griffin are both at the top of my lists with the Griffin having a very good selection of tap beer and two fireplaces going all the time (they keep the AC cranked in the summer and it actually feels great to sit near one of them). I just went to Herbs & Rye last week and it has a very cool retro vibe but go during happy hour for the best deals. If you are downtown head just east of Fremont East and stop by Atomic Liquor, very retro. For a verrrry retro feel, try Commonwealth, also downtown. Check out the photos here:

    peppermill

The Peppermill has a lot of working girls there, depending on the time of day and week. So beware. If you can get a nice spot by the water fireplace. its pretty cool, also great food.

Thanks for the list. I was wondering about hitting 3 of the bars on this list so it sounds like I won't be disappointed.

You might want to check out the Mandarin Bar at the Mandarin Oriental. Some of the best views of the Strip can be had there.

Went to The Laundry Room a couple of weeks ago and highly recommend for old speakeasy feel and great mixology drinks. You'll have to text for reservations, though. You can find the number on their FaceBook page. And the Commonwealth Bar itself looked cool. Plus, only half a block from the Griffin, another of my favourite bars.

I also second the Mandarin Bar on 23rd Fl of Mandarin Oriental.

Voodoo Lounge at Rio has fantastic views of Vegas, as does the 107 Lounge at the Stratosphere .

Can't believe I haven't made it to the Fireside Lounge at the Peppermill yet. On my list

Not retro but the Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan is my favorite.

Doing some surfing for our trip this fall and am mad at myself for not stopping in at this place. It may be worth a try, we drove by it last month but were too tired to stop for a drink. Velveteen Rabbit:
