    hi everyone.

I'll be in vegas 8/15 to 8/18. It's my first time to travel vegas and it's also my first solo trip. I'd welcome any recommendation for food, shows, clubs that shouldnt be missed. Thanks!

A someone who frequently travels solo, my main tip is that there are no shows or restaurants you should avoid because you are traveling solo.

One of the great things about traveling solo is that you can often get amazing seats for shows. I've been in the first or second row for many shows with last minute tickets because they have that one seat left.

And for restaurants, if you are happy eating alone, do it. Sometimes, I eat at the bar, sometimes, I eat at a table by myself. No one cares. Just enjoy your dinner. Even if you may think they do, F--- them, it's Vegas. Do what you want.

My first solo trip I saw Absinthe and tried the wine pairing sample menu at Andres in the Monte Carlo. You can finish up with a cigar if you like. Depending on what you like you can find something to suit your needs and travelling solo gives the benifit of doing things your way and at your pace.

You can do whatever you want without the burden of others... Hate having to do whatever the majority of the group wants when you want something different.

Only downside to me is paying a little more for stuff... Can't split a taxi or rooms.

Loved absinthe. Eating anywhere you want is great. And you can always find a seat at the bar.

I just recently caught the Big Elvis show at Harrah's. It is a free show, you can get there about 15 minutes before show time and still get a seat. I sat at the bar and played some VP (lousy pay tables though) while listening to some pretty good music. He does a good job of interacting well with the audience.

Also, you can often jump the queue at busy restaurants ahead of people waiting for a table if you just want a solo seat at the bar.

Most of my trips were solo and I LOVED IT. I agree with everything said above. The one GREAT thing is the FREEDOM you have. And eating at the bar is a good way to meet people. Enjoy!!!!

When you do eat at restaurants, I would suggest to eat at bar area. Easier to interact with people, and you do not have to sit at the table by yourself.

A few things that I would suggest:

    1. Use the airport shuttle to/from downtown. You'll end up paying about 1/4 what you would otherwise pay a cab. (If you're a gambler, I think solo trips are far better downtown than on the strip...for all of the usual reasons, but mostly because of the close-proximity of all of the casinos to each other.)
    2. Rooms at Fremont & 4-Queens are very reasonable. Since you're solo, the small bathrooms have virtually zero impact.
    3. Skip the buffets and sit at the counter at cafes and diners.
    4. Solo trip? Skip the strip clubs...don't want to go into any of them without a wingman.
    5. If you're primarily a club-hopper & foodie and not a gambler, ignore #1-4, and stay on the strip.

After 32 years, I did my first solo trip in March. The only reason was to use up SWA credit vouchers before they expired.

I enjoyed it and dining solo was never a problem. I always got a table. I'm not a fan of bar or counter dining.

I must admit I did miss my wife not being there. I'm 60, so no strip clubs or hooker stories from me. Gambled and drank:drunk: for the entire trip.

I did my first solo trip in May and I really enjoyed it, it was nice just to do what ever you wanted to do whenever you wanted to.
Apart from my day trip to LA I wasn't restricted by anything so never had any plans really and just decided on the day what I was going to do. I never had any problem eating alone, that never really bothered me, hoping to get to go again soon.

    1) For a solo trip, as stated earlier, stay downtown. Close casinos etc.

    2) Be careful with the booze. I'm sure you can conjur up the many nightmarish scenarios "a drunk tourist all by him/herself was blah blah blah'd today on Las Vegas Blvd..."

    3) Do whatever the fuck you feel like  and enjoy it dude.

I've gone to Vegas 1-3 times a year for the past 10 years and all of them, except for the 1st one, has included some solo time. Anywhere from one day to a whole week. If I was given a choice, the only person I would rather go with than go alone, is my wife.

I like getting up, eating, gambling, or whatever, whenever. I can spend 16 hours in a sports book on a Saturday or Sunday and don't have to answer to anyone.

I haven't eaten at any buffets by myself (not that I wouldn't, I just choose not to) but, I have now problem eating at a restaurant.

In the overall cost of the trip an extra $15 for a cab is no big deal. The only time I've gone to a strip club was when I was staying downtown and I only had a couple of beers. Otherwise, if I am going to drink a lot, I do it at my home casino so it's a short stumble to my room.

My schedule also gets screwed up when I am in Vegas. I wake up way to early and hit the strip at sunrise. So, by afternoon, I like to take a quick nap and then head back out again. I'm sure any traveling buddies would frown on that. (except my wife)

Don't be afraid of doing the more expensive things just because you are solo. I know I find a lot of the places I want to eat more acceptable if I'm only paying for 1. If you end up loving it, you can always go back with others too.

Generally solo trips are a lot more flexible with schedules, so you may be able to enjoy a few happy hours to get some nice discounts.

I rarely go to shows, but I would agree with the advice above. Solo tickets can be some amazing seats even at the last minute.

This is the one time I'll actually read a paper while in Vegas. I'll get a paper, head to a buffet(generally lunch is happening when I'm ready in the morning) and just relax and read the paper while I eat. I found if I don't have the paper I just try and eat as fast as possible and get out of there as fast as possible.

I have the same reaction when eating solo as well. I find I rush through meals more when at a table, but if I'm at the bar I have no issues. My only assumption is I think I feel ok people watching while sitting at the bar, but not at all while sitting at a table.

Solo trips are great, I do about 80% of my trips to Vegas solo. I am primarily a poker player, solo lets you not have to worry about your wife/gf while sitting in a tournament for 6-8 hours.

I dont have a problem eating alone, buffets, bars, restaurants, no problem, and you can eat where and when you like rather than having to please others in your party.

It is nice to have the freedom to spend as much time as you like, where you like rather than having to move on to the next show/casino/bar etc.

In short, you can be selfish without affecting anyone

Being alone means you are responsible for your bankroll and sometimes necessitates you utilize the "daily envelope" approach or some similar fashioned method of keeping track of your losses/winnings without going into the vault thinking you surely will win it back since losing streaks never (unlike run-on sentences) last longer than "this" one. Never.

Seriously, you can get down on a bad streak and chase without too much reflection on the reality of the situation when alone. But unless it is with the significant other or a very compatible "newbie", traveling with another is not such a great thing either with conflicts of schedules and desires / needs; solo tripping is a blast (unlike the 60's).....good luck....

Times have changed....SOLO TRIPS ARE FUN!

I discovered Solo trips to Vegas when I needed to use my airline money. I have
gone to Vegas solo ever since that day.

Here are some great tips for SOLOS: You must go to the NEWYORK, NEWYORK HOTEL for HAPPY HOUR, 4p.m. til 6p.m. at their N.Y. TIME SQUARE BAR.
You will get to meet people to talk with if you want to do that. Great free music
and 50% off food and drinks.

Harrahs has a Happy hour too that is fun. You get to see people making fools of
    themselves.

Learn to take the local bus. Buy a 24 hour bus pass for $8.00 and you will be able
to get off and on all day from hotel to hotel that you want to visit. It even takes
you to downtown too. GREAT DEAL! LucyR.

This advise is for everybody that goes solo to Vegas.
