Making my annual family trip to Laughlin staying at the GN for 5 days

I play mainly Blackjack and VP

We went on a Harrahs charter to Laughlin 3 weeks ago. We were there 4 nights but rented a car and drove into Vegas for one night. We only played at Harrahs and Riverside so I can' speak for the rest.

Seems the VP payout at Harrahs is typical Caesars propeties (not so good). We really enjoyed a new table game called High Flush poker and won a good bit on it.

Riverside VP payout was much better than Harrahs. We actually talked with three different Harrahs employess who told us they normally play at Riverside. Also, Riverside has a Dueces Hold Em Fold Em table game we like. Ended up hitting the .25 cent VP progressive Royal at one of the bars.

Between the high flush poker game and Riverside VP on the last day of play, we won back enough to leave even.

I will say the staff at both casinos and the airport were very friendly. We really had a good time.

    Hope this helps.

There is a bank of full pay VP machines at Aquarius and some full pay and non full pay elsewhere in the casino.
Riverside had a 3:2 single deck game back in February.

Just read about 'high card flush' on the wizard's site. Looks interesting and it's supposedly at PH in Vegas. I may give it a try.

    Wizard says:
Make maximum Call bet with J-9-6 or higher.
    Fold 9-7-4 or lower.
You're on your own with 9-7-5 to J-9-5.

Been to Laughlin about 10 times. Just went there last month sandwiched in between vacationing at Grand Canyon and Vegas. Always get comped rooms at Harrah's so we stay there.

Things we do every time we go... Eat at Saltgrass steak house at GN at least 1 night. We both always get the T-Bone. Fried Mushrooms for appetizer. You wont be sorry.

I also like playing at the Tropicana. We'll spend half a day there at least. Also, the Rueben at the 24 hour diner is very good. I always get one when there.

Aquarius is nice too. Use to be The Flamingo and they kept a lot of the pink color so it still looks like Flamingo. They may still have a seafood buffet there on the weekends which is very good, but about 40 bucks which is kinda steep for Laughlin.

We'll visit the other Casinos for a few hours on each trip. Longer if we're winning. The Edgewater has a craps table that's half the size of a regular table. It would look great in my garage, but looks funny in a casino.

Laughlin use to be the place for the slower crowd to go. But lately it seems that more and more families are going there. Last time I was there Harrah's was taken over by kids. Also, most of the tables had Vegas minimums, not the 5 bucks that I've been accustomed to in Laughlin.

Best thing about a comped room in Laughlin though....No Resort fees (yet).

Summertime in Laughlin brings in the families! This is true. People who need multiple rooms and are on a tight budget flock to the place for >$20 rooms. Wintertime is full of retired folks getting away from Minnesota, Canada, and a number of other places you don't want to find yourself November to February.

I can't speak much about the BJ conditions in town, but there is some decent VP to be found. There is more in Vegas, but you will find it on the River.

Aquarius- Probably my favorite casino in town has some FPVP back by the Outback Steakhouse. There is also a bank of short-pay 15-coin nickle machines that I always seem to win on. I would make it my home base if they had a better pool than the bathtub they call a pool on the roof of the casino.

Harrah's- has a bank of okay machines (9/7 DBP??) right next to the Range Steakhouse overlooking the river.

Golden nugget- They too have some solid machines. Love that they still have a bunch of coin-droppers in there.

Pioneer- JOB at the bar is nice!

** Actually, I just looked at the VPFree site and you can find some stuff at Edgewater and the Belle at the dollar level. And some of the other places look like they've added more offerings. Still very limited offerings at over 100%.
