Got back last week from a 4 night visit to Wynncore.....no report coming from me as I had one of those trips where quads were in short supply and I wracked up my single biggest trip loss ever. sigh....

Anyway, while there, I noticed that many of the slots and video poker machines (below dollar denomination) now have the Wynn logo with advertising for their restaurants and other amenities on the screen with the game. You can touch the screen to close the advertising, but it will eventually pop back up and you have to do it again.

So, love it or hate it? I'm a hater on this one....geez, I know I'm in the Wynn without you reminding me. I was surprised at how many people's screens showed the advertising.....which tends to scrunch the rest of the game. Makes me think it doesn't matter to most?

I've only ever seen it on the small screen where the player's card info usually displays.

We were playing at Wynn last Wednesday and didn't notice the advertising on the slot video screen itself.
    Interesting.

Four Queens has had it for quite a while, but only before the money is inserted. Then it goes away for good, or it did so far.

Some of the MGM properties have this with their "MLife" screen and info. I don't mind it, actually think its a pretty good idea and once you close the screen it stays closed.

If it kept popping up then I'd probably go play somewhere else: like you see that a lot on Facebook games and even some apps and they do it keep the games free with advertising, but when you pay for the game/app the popup ads disappear - from that I wouldn't expect to have to keep hiding a popup in a casino because I am effectively paying for it by playing there.

Four Queens had video ads running on a lot of their video poker machines - featuring that creepy-looking over happy old guy - anyway, you had to hit a button or touch the screen to get the game.

They didn't last very long, thank goodness. Maybe 6 or 8 months?

We were there July 26-30....maybe they got rid of it already? It was on a lot of the "north half of the casino" machines at Wynn. Especially in the NE quadrant over by Parasol up. It was on the vp machines and the slot machines, but not all of them. Also, there was no advertising on the machines when we were there in mid-June during the renovations.

Wynn sent me a survey last week and this is one of the things I complained about....that and how they keep eliminating machines on their floor. Frankly, the Wynncore slot floor is becoming pretty boring when you compare it to Aria, Bellagio, Palazzo or Venetian.

I also noticed the floor has changed from rows of slots to carousels and groups of 2 or 4 throughout the casino. We'll have to see if this advertising thing sticks.

I agree that Palazzo/Venetian have more of a selection and variety of slots, that's for sure. (Haven't been to Bellagio in a while.) We had a blast playing
last week and I've finally got the Palazzo casino floor wired so I can find the hub when he says he's at the Star Wars machine. :evillaugh
Of course, that'll change by the time we get back in December. :faint:

Stayed at WynnCore 2 weeks ago and noticed these as well. At least they were easier to close and not as annoying as the ones at MGM. Cosmo has them on all their machines and they have for quite some time.
The thing I hate most is they shrink the game screen to make these fit. Distorting the graphics in such a way that it sometimes takes away from the fun of the machine. The ones at MGM were sometimes hard to close or they were very loud and annoying. Especially on the empty machines close to you.

Should be all you have to do is press "CLOSE" on the screen or press the "SERVICE" button

    Should be is correct!
The close button relies solely on touch-screen architecture. On some of the older Aristocrat machines (my favorite BTW), the touch screen was almost non-existent, or the "true" activation for the close switch was about an inch above/below the one you see. So it would take 5 or 6 tries to close the annoyance.
Maybe it was the bloody mary's that caused this, but I swear they were a PITA sometimes. :rolleyes2:

I guess thinking about this reminds me that I have seen women with long fingernails trying to use their nails to close or manipulate a touch screen and that doesn't work because the screens operate by sensing the heat of your touch

What I don't like is my first name being displayed.

That kind of annoyed me at first and I would always hide it. Now I guess I'm used to it. I'm talking about CET here.

Our local Ameristar now has low-key ads alternating with witty and dumb sayings. "When the alarm on your clock turns on, why do we say it goes off?" "Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?" Things like that.
