Hi everyone!

Long time observer, first time posting, and really need everyone's help.

But first, I think the hardest thing about signing up to forums like this one is coming up with a good user name. I hope you like it, for it say's...

What happens in Vegas goes on youtube.

Anyway, I need some serious help. Cindy and I are planning our fourth and possibly final trip to Vegas, with a fifth trip in the distant future years down the road.

So I am wanting to make this one really good (lol, just like every prior visit).

First year, Bally's South tower, 1/2 Bellagio fountains. 2002
Second year, Paris Red room, Bellagio fountains. 2004
Third year, Flamingo Go Room South Tower, Bel foun. 2012
Fourth Year pending late Spring / Early Summer 2014

This time we want to stay at Planet Hollywood, and yes, you guessed it, for the Bellagio fountains. I have done my homework, understand the different room types at PH.

What we can afford (minus any $20 sandwich that may or may not work), is a Premium Fountain View Room. But I have a major concern with this room (regarding the VIEW, not the room itself).

From what I understand, the Premium Fountain View Room is a regular Hip Room, but with a better view of the fountains. That is fine.

But look at video #1 below.

WTF is that dingy, tiny window!! Is that what we can expect? If so, then PH is out and back to Flamingo (that we REALLY DO NOT WANT TO DO).

In the second video is a room at PH with a window that would be fine with us, and PH would be a go. It would be a downgrade, for our Paris and Flamingo had Floor to ceiling windows, but it would be fine.

But not that dingy tiny window, for it would ruin the vacation.

So my question is.... Is this the window you get for a Premium Fountain View room, or is this one a fluke?

Video #1 Dingy Tiny Window: :nono:

Video #2 This is OK for us:

Thank you!

Your video links aren't working for me.

But yes, PH's standard rooms have tiny, awful windows. If you're tall, you need to squat to look out otherwise you'll hit your head on the shades. (I'm not a fan of their rooms in general).

Trying to edit the, but I'm having issues as well. Apparently the board is not allowing direct links to the video, but will allow links to the comment page for the video.

You need to use the "YOUTUBE" tag to post a You Tube video.

You take your link, the part that looks like: k2LyvqIsHE4

And you put it between two You Tube tags which look like:

except I have added a space before each ones final ] so they show up instead of start working

So you end up with:

k2LyvqIsHE4
Which, minus the extra spaces will give you:

There is also a YOUTUBE button at the top of the editor (above the white box, far right) that will put the two tags in for you.

I stayed in both a Resort Room and Resort Vista room that had very good views of the fountains with large windows, but I don't know if they all have the fountain views. As was said above, the Hip rooms have small windows.

I have not figured out what a Resort room is, or if they have fountain views, but (someone correct me on this), I have done some extensive research about the Vista Resort Room.

They are only located in the small wings that extend out of the main structure.

They are located only at the very end of the structures. There are nine or ten windows at each end, so this is either 3 separate guest rooms with 3 windows each or 2 separate guest rooms at 5 windows each.

There is a youtube video of room 2080 Vista Resort, and it is a great room, but it is bad, for the Paris Balloon is right in the middle view of the fountains, and you miss the major center pieces of the fountains.

This is a possible room people get upgraded to with the $20. I would not want it at all! I'll take the smaller room with a better unobstructed room.

Room 2080 is in the little wing NORTH, I believe facing far north side.

I have seen a Vista Resort Room in the little wing SOUTH, facing NORTH towards the fountains... (Do not get the South Wing Vista on the side that faces south = no fountain view).

It is PERFECT, if you can get it. You get the fountains, and all the way down to MB! I would give $50 sandwich for that one!!!!

So see..... I am a newbie, and I can contribute too. I will later post a youtube video of this great Vista Resort room. :licklips:

They don't. My resort room looked down strip. Still a great view on higher floors though.

I do not know happened, but the Mod must have removed my last few posts.

There is nothing wrong with it, and I think the MOD was just trying to help edit out all the miss fired post I have done today, so good job to the MOD. :nworthy:

This vid is a great VISTA REORT ROOM. It is in the SOUTH tower extension, looking towards City Center and the fountains.

But back to my original question. Does the Premium Fountain View come with the Tiny Window, or the other one in the video that looks larger? For that is all we can afford to pay.

------------------------------------------------------

Now here is the Vista Resort room video that we could fall in love for, but only with luck and a $50 sandwich.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

So how about premium fountain windows?

Are they tiny as in the first video, or the bigger one in second video. :confused2:

Have you considered calling the hotel, explaining the importance of having floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the view you desire, and asking them which rooms fit that description?

That was my next plan of action.

But before I call, I needed the experience of people like yourself.

And remember, this trip is for next June / July of 2014.

Now.... before someone says, why are you asking now?

We do cruises and Biloxi. Vegas is a super treat to us, special.

Due to air fare, Vegas is a very special treat to us in Florida.

Yes, we are going to spend the extra money to do Vegas. Why...

June/July 2014:

1) The Ling and Big roller should be done.
2) Sky Vue should be done.
3) The RIO zip line should be done.
4) Bills (so sad to see it go, had too much fun there as a low roller) change over will be done.

Would love to stay at PH, and trying to make it work.

Last:

LV is about a year away. So why am I asking now?

This is how we plan cruises.

Same with every Vegas trip we have done.

It is torture (the waiting) to do it this way. Yet, we get advise and save money this way on long run.

We just got off a cruise in May 2012. Now it is Vegas, Vegas, Vegas! :drunk:

I wish I could just look at Cindy and say....

Hey, let's go to Vegas this weekend, or a cruise for the next week.

The resort rooms are on the part of the hotel perpendicular to the main structure with the resort vistas being on the end. The North facing rooms have fountain views with the better views from the higher floors.

It sounds like you had a red room with fountain view at Paris before. IMHO this is an amazing view....Probably only second to the Lakeview Rooms at Bellagio.

We got super lucky at Paris with a $20 sandwich. We got the highest room, Fountain view possible, without going to the Penthouse suits.

The very top two floors required a special key card.

We were on the floor very below.

Now to make everyone know our luck has not been "wonderful".

Our very first trip to Vegas in 2002 Ballys....

Did the $20, and got the worst view room you can think of. Very low and a view of the rooftop.

Clerk took my $20, must have laughing all the way..

Anyway....

We went back downstairs, to asked for a better view room (this time, no $20).

Got a great high view, closest to the strip.

It's Vegas, so go figure...

That is why I am nervous with any attempt using sandwiches.

But ya gotta try.. :poker:

If all you're looking for is a nice night time view of the Bellagio fountains for a few hours, you might think about getting a room anywhere and having a dinner in the Eiffel Tower restaurant. The meal will last a couple hours and has a great view of the fountains.

No, please think of it this way.

Cindy will spend hours upon hours in the room very late at night

just looking at the fountains and the strip, until daylight.

Every night. Every very night. :ssst:

Till dawn. :nworthy:

---------------------------------------------------

Then come home and crash for two hole days to recover.

Have you thought about a Terrace Room at Cosmo? If you're into the Bellagio Fountains that much I would think this would be very special for you guys.

We would LOVE to do that!

Again...

WE WOULD LOVE, LOVE, LOVE TO DO THAT. :nworthy:

One reason we want to stay at PH is Cosmo is right over the bridge.

We love the "Lousy" pay VP at the Cosmo bars, all three of them are JEMS of a place to play VP bartops.

Play our VP, 3 Card, and some slots at PH, but have the Cosmo right across the street for our VP at the best bartops in Vegas.

Great food options at PH too, plus Paris next door for great food!

Monte Carlo Brew Pub is fun too...

-------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, the Single Terrance Fountain view rooms are on a Sunday - Thursday night stay that we plan to do Sept 2014 are
(rate not listed yet, but with prior years research) are in
the $220 - $250 range per night (plus resort fees)

For a five night stay, we just can't do a $1400 for the room! :grrr:

So, Planet Hollywood..

We have done Ballys (first visit, will not go there again, but fun VP bar)
Paris 2nd visit (got Red Room on $20 facing fountains).
Flamingo last visit, Go room facing Fountains.

We figured PH is the next best shot for the view.

Last, We are in our late 50's. We have read about the crowd at PH Casino, Younger, Louder, and Partier. :drunk:

And we actually like that (Flamingo too boring last trip), as long as the kids are not banging the headboards against the wall ALL NIGHT LONG between 2:00 AM to 10 AM....

But we know they will.... :evillaugh

That rate sounds way too high. If you wanted to stay there you could start saving up now! You have 13 months! So, it's do-able.
If you love looking at the fountains just think how nice it would be to sit out on the Terrace sipping coffee first thing in the morning.

OK, I am all game to Cosmo lower rate.

The rates I lsted are Cosmo rates. I have been watching how people...
through 3rd parties, get much lower rates.

HOWEVER, They always get burned when trying to upgrade or try the $20.

People on this forum say, when you book via 3rd party, the checkin people have limited room to work with.

If you book direct, the desk may find something (and they do) for you.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

So how do I book direct, and get below the 220 - 250 range? :poke:
