So a few recent threads about bankroll size, etc. have cropped up and it got me thinking; Do the folks who are high rollers bring most of their bankroll as cash?

Like if you have a bankroll of 10K, are you really coming with cash? Do you instead set up a line of credit with your home casino and then draw on it to avoid using banks or having to go through the airport, etc. with a ton of money?

The most I've ever taken out was 4K in cash, and I didn't exactly like carrying that much with me. I wasn't comfortable until we were checked in and it was in the safe, and even then I wasn't thrilled about the idea of leaving it there either.

For a three day trip I take between 10-20k and carry it on me until I hit the room. Never any issues

Most of the high rollers are going to play on credit lines or wire front money. I think once you get to mid-5 figures its not really all that feasible to keep bringing cash, and a lot of them gamble with 6-figures. But I've seen people play with crazy amounts of cash too. Last time at MGM a guy sat down at my table with his wife, he looked almost exactly like Cee Lo. He told his wife to give him 5k, she opened her bag and I swear there had to be well over $100k in there. I just saw stacks and stacks of $10k wraps.

There are two things - 1) is it too cumbersome 2) do you feel safe?. As far as being cumbersome, carrying $10k is nothing. It can easily fit in your front pocket, even more. Whether you feel safe is up to you. Some people would get nervous carrying around 1k. My grandfather used to wholesale gold and would walk around Queens with 5 or 6 figures on him a lot of times after making sales, even taking the subway. We thought it was nuts, my dad didn't like him doing it. But he thought it was no big deal, and he wasn't wealthy by any means.

I take my whole bankroll of $42.75 with me in nickels and dimes, which makes it kind of hard getting through airport security!!!!!

    1) Wire Money
    2) Have a bank account/bank where there are Las Vegas branches.

I'm most uncomfortable with too much cash while going through airport security. Taking it out of my purse and carrying the cash through the security machine advertises my bankroll to anybody. It isn't a huge amount to many but more than I want to lose to anyone except a casino. Hopefully I still have a bankroll to worry about on the trip home.

I always keep the majority of my bankroll ($2k-3k) hidden in my carry on. I keep a couple hundred in change in my pocket for tips, etc. Since my carry on is always with me, I don't have to mess with the cash until I get to the room.

I always bring cash, at least 10K, but do most of my play on my LOC.
It's probably crazy but I can go through a couple grand real easy in Las
Vegas and I hate to not have a cash reserve.
Also I don't want my wife working off my LOC for VP and slots.

I've brought as much as 20k in cash in my pockets and brought home 50k in cash before in a bag. it's really no big deal. everything is normal and nobody knows you have it.

but these days I use markers for my BR. when I win I just deposit it at the cage and then have them wire the balance home at the end. just so much simpler.

There are several ways to get funds to Vegas. People just have different attitudes about carrying cash. I have read posts where the poster is concerned about carrying $2000 in cash and looking for other options!

Just keep it securely on your person and put it in the room safe. It that's still a concern, get a safe deposit box at the casino cage.

While I wouldn't be opposed to taking more than 10k in cash, I think if I get to that level, I'll be using markers and then taking just a little for other stuff. I still wouldn't feel uncomfortable, I just think at a certain point it becomes easier to do it via markers and LOCs.

I can't imagine there are many people in the 6 figure range that are using mostly cash. Simply counting out a 20k buyin would be annoying I assume.

How would anyone know you had a boat load of cash on you? as long as you aren't flashing it around no one is the wiser. As far as airport security, go into a stale in a bathroom pre-security, put the cash in your carry on, go through security, go into a stale in a bathroom post-security and put the money back in your pocket.

I usually just keep my cash in my pocket through security, I have never had them ask me to take it out.

Thanks for all the responses. Funny, because airport security is the place I'm the most uncomfortable, if for no other reason, they are the most likely to discover I have a wad of cash. It's just more of a concern than usual this trip because I'm going out with a lot more than I have in the past (40th birthday).

Depending on when your flight lands you can always find a bank on your way to the hotel and withdrawl all the money you need for the trip. Then you will only have to carry it from the bank to the hotel and you can then put it in the safe...

I usually go out there with $20k give or take a few g's. I used to do Travelers Checks, but as the bankrolls got bigger they became impractical and too damn time consuming. Now I get the cash and keep it in my carry on, and have been questioned about it only once. Most of the time if they see you're going to LV they're pretty cool about it. I use the envelope method and the room safe. I have never had a single dime stolen from me out of a hotel in Vegas - tables and machines notwithstanding - and I have been pretty careless with valuables and cash out there a few times. One thing I also do is the big win rule; cash in the ticket or chips, and get to the room to safe it. I found this also helps avoiding the dreaded depression causing "giving it all back" scenarios.

I have a zipper pocket inside my carryon.i always keep it with me and keep my cash inside that in an envelope.
This way I don't have to take it out going through security and it is in the overhead above me on the plane.
If there was any chance I had to gate check the carryon the envelope goes in my pocket.
